Super Spray

Like a lot of other lucky beauties I was lucky enough to receive this in the ‘ball season’ BBBE. I was in two minds excited and anxious, I kind of gave up on setting sprays after a bad experience with one that made my skin feel like it couldn’t breathe. And I never normally need it as I never find my makeup fading or melting away or not lasting the distance, or maybe I still have a lot to learn, maybe it does look terrible to an outsider? Ha anyway

The black spray bottle is nothing fancy but it does the trick in fact I quite like it but then I LOVE black, with white writing and a bright pink strip near the bottom of the bottle It’s not really like anything else in my collection.

After I do my face I grab the bottle and read the back for the instructions- don’t laugh I have been caught once or twice not reading the instructions properly first. ‘Hold 8-10” from face’ one would assume that is in inches. And ‘spray 4-6 times’.. crikey that seems a lot but ok. I hold It about 30cm from my face and spray 3 pumps, just as I thought, 4-6 sprays would be far too much. I notice a bit of a sweet scent but it’s nothing I can really put my finger on just a makeup scent, after a few seconds it’s gone anyway, it sprays a super duper fine mist it’s kind of refreshing.

I stand back and admire my face it looks really dewy which I LOVE, I do have really dry skin so anything dewy or satin finish gets more love from me. Over the course of the day I keep checking my face to see what it looks like and it looks great every time I think it does keep my face looking that wee bit fresher than it normally does. As for the feeling on my skin? I can’t even notice it. I can’t even feel if I have it on or not.

I am now nearly halfway through the bottle and the mist nozzle still works fine it hasn’t clogged up with product like I thought it might have and I am still loving it, and I can still feel my face breathing. It’s a winner for me and I will repurchase.

Master at setting things right!

Over the past few years I have trialed and tested so many setting sprays, I will say with confidence that this setting spray is a drug store dupe for Urban decays All nighter setting spray, after weighing up how well they perform, they would go hand in hand, maybe even besties?

I have normal to combination skin and with that in mind, if I apply a medium to full coverage of makeup, most times it ends cakey, the powders and the liquids start to react and I have one powdery overloaded mess. Spraying this over the top absorbs all of the excess powders and seals the makeup. I can carry on with my day and not worry about my contour sliding down south after a few hours. Not to mention this works great with water, rain, sweat, its like a magical barrier that helps keep your makeup in place. It reminds me of that phrase "Take her swimming on the first date". We have had a few adventures to the swimming pool and with all the water that is splashed about, my makeup still looks flawless after each swimming day.

Another thing I like about this setting spray is you can spray this all over your face and eyes when you're wearing false lashes, I have noticed in the past that a lot of setting sprays will react with the eyelash glue and stops them from sticking, it can end up a horrible nightmare (speaking from experience) but you can spray this setting spray all over your face without any worries, you can also spray this onto your brush when applying eye shadow, it creates a foiled eye shadow and makes the eye shadow last all day, there is no need for eye shadow primer.

The mist that is released is small but sprays a large perimeter of mist, 2-3 sprays is more than enough to set your makeup. This also doesn't have a mask like feeling when you spray this on your face, it keeps my t-zone clear and its not oily at the end of the day which happens when I use All nighter from Urban decay.

This was sent in the Ball seasons Best beauty box ever and this has to be my most favorite product from Best beauty box ever. And Im sorry to say this Urban decay but I have officially ended our 3 years relationship.

I will be repurchasing more.

Promise Perfect

I'd never tried a setting spray prior to recieving this one in the ball season BBBE. Having a modest beauty budget at most times, I'd always kind of thought of it as an unnecessary makeup product. Well that thought has changed since i've been using this, i'm now sold on setting spray.

This spray pump disperses the product quite lightly as a very fine & cooling mist, it feels quite refreshing, not too wet and dries quickly. I was slightly concerned that it might affect the matte finish of my foundation, but it doesn't seem to. This product performs as promised and keeps makeup on point and in place throughout the duration of use.

This setting spray has convinced me that it's definitely worth having, and I think that the $20 RRP is very reasonable. I'll definitely purchase this setting spray in future and highly recommend!

What a Fix

I got this product in the Staff Picks BBBE. I thought to myself, what is this magic potion that can be sprayed on the face after make up?? So I read the reviews and figured I knew what to do with it. I’ve used Maybelline products over many years, and used many of them when I was younger, and haven’t ever used one that I haven’t liked.

It comes in a zany black spray bottle with white print and a pink strip and looks professional and attractive. It contains just enough information on the back to explain how to use it.

I have been applying it each day after finishing my make up application. I find four sprays is ample, one in each quadrant of my face. I have to say I kinda surprised the first time I used it that it didn’t cause my make up to start sliding off my face!

So, I’m finding it very good. I think it adds a bit of a glow to my face and my make up stays in place well throughout the day. It does dry quickly and leaves my skin feeling soft and fresh, not sticky or shiny, as the product claims. I’m very impressed it, especially considering how sceptical I was initially.

$20 seems a very fair price. It does a good job and will last for ages seeing as I only use four sprays each day.

I would recommend it to others to try, though I’m the first to admit it is the only product of its type that I’ve ever tried, so while I found it a good product, I can’t say if it’s better than other similar products or not.

Face fixer

I got this in a BBBE & it has become a welcome addition to my routine. I have oily/combination skin & after applying all my makeup, I spray and go! Makeup lasts all day. The spray itself is light, and feels refreshing. Little odour, and the bottle itself is a good size to fit in my cabinet, travel bag, but will also last well.

I think at $20 I may just be repurchasing this wee gem.

Effective but Not!

To be honest I am not really sure how to rate this setting spray because of the mixed results I have had with it. This use to be my holy grail! It was affordable, it didn’t leave any milky residue and it worked, what more could you want? However, after using this nearly every day for at least six months I found that it started to become less and less effective. So much so that I did not finish the bottle. I am not sure if the product had gone bad or if my skin had just become so use to that the spray became ineffective? Either way, this is not something I would expect from any kind of makeup related beauty product, especially one that I really like and want to keep using! So, after many months of being very happy with it, I ended up being disappointed.

Makes makeup last a bit longer, but doesn't do muc

I have always had trouble with setting sprays as I find they don't really do much for me and my make-up still does not last the day. I do have quite oily skin, so keep in mind my experience with the product will be a bit different to everyone elses. The product comes in a generously sized 100ml bottle and I found the price reasonable for a setting spray. The spray is an attractive black in colour with pink and white on the bottle. I find the spray doesn't blast huge amounts on the face so it doesn't run out too quickly. I found the instructions to use 4 sprays per face of make-up a bit excessive, but I haven't run out of this quickly. The spray dries relatively quickly and smells a bit like glue. It doesn't wet the make-up or make it move around. I noticed since purchasing this that my make-up did last a bit longer and appear less shiny compared to when not using a setting spray at all. However, this doesn't make enough of a difference to justify the price, hair spray does a fair better job. I am quite oily and my eyeshadow tends to crease and wear off within three hours, despite primers and having good products. My foundation also gets quite oily by the end of the day. When I used this, my eyeshadow still had heavily creased and worn off by lunchtime, and my foundation would start to slide off. So this didn't really do much to set my make up at all, it just increased the wear of my makeup by only about an hour. I wouldn't use this again as it failed to set my make up at all, but I think this is mainly down to my skin type, so don't be too put off by my review.

Spray and walk away

I've been ogling for this mist since last year so glad NZ got on board with it. A sleek bottle that isn't transparent, which is a peeve for me because I love to see where I'm at with product. However the bottle has branding on it in pink & white. It has a lift of lid easy to remove. The spray itself emits just enough product & isnt invasive. I don't it has an offensive scent at all. The price point is the most appealing part for the amount of product for just under $20 it's a winner. The spray definitely helps with my makeup lasting & takes the cakey look.

Master fix?

I recieved this in a BBBE a few years ago. I had never used a setting spray before so wasn't too sure what to expect. It's a fine mist so care must be taken to not spray in your eyes. I normally hold it about 15cm away from my face with my eyes closed and circle around my face for a few seconds. Its lightweight when sprayed and fully dries within 30 seconds. Once it's on your skin it's like an invisible shield. Not sticky and no residue. It really hard to say whether it improves the longevity of my make up so not entirely convinced about it.

So pleased

I have been hearing all about "makeup fixers" for a while and really wanted to try. Wow, what a world out there but decided to try this Maybelline one after reading about it here on BR.

I applied as directed, spraying 4-6 times after application. The first day using it I felt it was working but not quite in the way I expected....keeping in mind this was on a day with extremely high humidity in Auckland. The next time I sprayed it after applying my foundation, left it for 5 mins and finished with my powder and sprayed it again. Not how recommended but this time all foundation stayed put ... also during a highly humid day.

I am pleased that it didn't change the look of my makeup (not changing my matt look). I came in a 100ml bottle, pump (not aerosol), the droplets seemed big to me but giving it time to set sees them disappear without leaving spray marks on foundation.

Very revealed also that it did not leave any marks on the clothes I was wearing. It didn't have a offending, over powering fragrance.

All in all, for the price, IMO its worth a try, it might work better over winter and expecting any makeup to maybe last on these hot, humid, Auckland days is unrealistic.

I applied my mascara and finishing touches to eye shadow after applying so I don't need to close eyes with mascara on.

For the price at $19.99 I don't feel its unreasonable, pretty much a bargain IMO.
