Products I Want
I know my down fall is food, but I am being more mindfull of moving & will keep doing a minimum of 3 sessions of 20min exercise per week.
I also spent a lot on Beauty boxes in 2017 - which were all wonderful, but now I have a lot of cleansers, moisturisers & all sorts of other items, so I am going to reduce my spending on products (sorry BBBE).
I have a few trips around the South Island for this year, and need to save money. I am also going to complete a few home DIY projects as well as a lot of other NBR craft projects.
AND, I am going to direct a play for our community theatre - really looking forward to that!
In terms of work/study, I am going to complete 4 more papers towards a Health & Safety Diploma, and apply for related job opportunities in that area, really hoping something will come up, but it is a bit more out of my control. In the meantime, I am going to keep on keeping on and not sweat the small stuff.
Yet to try out the 3 hair products which are meant to lengthen my hair - I'm waiting on a trial to arrive, and I will give the hair growing ones a go, once I have given the trial a really good go.
The leave in conditioner, I also love - good spray and light - it's keeping the frizz away from my curls.
I like the 'refer' new points - get these new members fully engaged and reviewing! I know of one lovely lady, (not my referral) who thought she could only review trial products!
Also I too am currently getting 2 points per article comment, and while I don't have as many points as others, I have a few and am looking forward to Saturday!
Fortunately I love this site, and am very excited about the Vault on Saturday. I keep hopping to see the preview.
Great tip on how to control the emails I might not want. In the meantime, I am happy to recieve them.
thanks BR for keeping this place great!
Depending on what I'm blending, I basically use a bigger, fluffier brush than what I used to apply what needs to be blended.
I've currently got 3 shampoo & conditioner sets open and on the go. Trying now to work through one at a time.
When it comes to my makeup & nail polish, every now and then I will pick up an item, declare it to be the weakest link and bin it. Or gift it to my daughter, depending on the product.
Currently it is about jaw length and half of it is natural in colour - although part of that (maybe 15%) is silver/grey.
The other half has been dyed, then striped, then dyed - although I think the last dye is out now, even permanent is washing out of the striped part.
then, there is the perm - 10 weeks old now, still kind of there, but I'm considering a re-do soon. So most of my hair is dry.
I get by with washing it twice a week, and spraying Anti frizz in daily, although when I wash it I also rub in a antifrizz cream.
I think I have it under control, but that is unlikely.
Recently I decanted my Palmolive body wash into my Only Good bottle and using the pump is making the body wash last a lot longer than normal, I at least I know I have a pump ready and waiting if it does fail.
they are a NZ brand and really nice and easy to deal with - I got a mini sample box a few years ago. I loved the solid serum, but am not really a solid shampoo kind of girl.
I do have a couple of solid masks I am looking forward to trying, but must use up other masks first!
Foundation is a product I find very hard to step outside my normal products and see how others perform, so getting to trial them without the cost has been fantastic!
I say this as I have just accepted a trial which will probably become my favourite - so excited to be on the Sally Hansen trial, I keep eyeing them up on the Farmers website, but cant fit them into my budget at the moment.
My fav clothes at the moment are the ones which have been too tight for too long, especially refinding my jeans! over the last year, I think the store I have found most of 'me' clothes has been Postie Plus, but they tend to be one or two items which just add to my current wardrobe.
In my 30s it was more Shanton, Meric, and Pagani - but now I also live in a small town which dont have any of those stores.
Also, about 5 years ago, some of my friends would get together a few times a year and have a clothing swap - this was a great way to clear out your wardrobe, try new clothes and looks for FREE and then donate the left overs to a favourite charity. I miss those clothing swaps.
Jump on the phone and call around plumbers, or another local hardware store - ask if they know who to contact for washing machine repairers.
Samsung are a big enough brand there must be places around that will service them and able to get parts - where do you live? alternatively, do you have a recycle centre near you? could you find the part there?
oh, also, most second hand stores have a service guy who fixes things - check with them to see if you can get a contact name.
I tend to make use of a longish fingernail when separating sections, and sort of press into scalp at the hairline, working your way up. If you are like me with loads of hair, you will also need to do half section bits - where you start half up your head.
I find it easier to do without a mirror on my own head and I have no problem working on either dry, wet, clean or dirty hair - although if it is oily I recommend the dry shampoo for starting - had this recently with my step daughter.
If you have a lot of whispy bits, or not quite long enough - try the alternative "german" method of pulling the strand under the other two, rather than over - this will make the plait sit on top of your hair.
While I didnt get an opportunity to be a Hero, I was always kind of glad, as I was worried about the pressure that would be bring - even if it was self induced.
I am very happy that the reviewers will come from a proven pool of people, as the number of reviews which could be better is frustrating, especially when most of us try to give a thorough review of a product.
Really hope some more products are added as well, I requested a few last year but havent seen them yet, the BEBB have had a few product not yet on here too. So very glad I write reviews in WORD and then pop them on once they are BR, that makes things easier.
I like learning the history of where some of this work comes from, and the different techniques and then I like to create my own images using that information.
Recently I have been doing more gardening as well - just planted some veges - I really enjoyed the New World little garden things, and particularly eating the food I grew, so now I have parsnip, beetroot, cauli and spinach (hopefully) growing. I still have tomatoes, capsicum and brocoli in the garden - but need to do some research on these, to make them grow better.
Za - many products
subscription boxes of all kinds
hair serum - this love is real.
Brow products - I did nothing with my brows before BR!
Eye of Horus
There are also loads of fun and great products I have tried which I never would have otherwise, and no complete disasters I can recall... even the eyelash curling went well.
I have also ordered their 12 days of Christmas. That should last me until Christmas day... I have no excuses to open that one early.
For other people, I ordered a few Best Ever Beauty boxes, have kept one whole for a special someone, and I split a few to top up pressies to some lovely ladies as well as keeping a few goodies for myself.
Do you think if they arent there when I go home from work it is too soon to ask for a tracking number?
My BR friend in the same town got hers on Friday.
How do you store them? After a BR article, I repurposed a spice rack & store mine there. There is a pic from ages ago, prob easier to find from my profile page.
The worst thing will be if it snags on things - so be careful with fluffy clothing & the like.
today I am looking at these white tips and can not believe I freehanded them - in my 20's I would have died for that skill and bought stupid stick on things which would either peel off half the polish or not stick properly & the white would get under them - arrgg (lesson learnt).
Once done I plan to choose just a couple to wear until they run out.
I hope that through this challenge I am also getting better at applying them!
I was soooo very tempted to buy a couple more polishes the other day - I spied the LA Colours Gel... it was only this challenge that stopped me.
*trying so hard to use up as many products before purchasing more*
(I got mine in Australia though - not sure if they are available in NZ) With the change in polishes & the Sally Hansen ones where you dont need a lamp, I'll probably get rid of mine once I get through the Gel polishes I have.
I have a hard time throwing things away that seem perfectly fine to me. I can't believe I'm struggling to throw away crackle polish!
I think if you mix it up & use more than one shade you count the shades - I dont want to put rules on the challenge, but am interested to see how many bottles, or covers we own & how they look, rather than how many different designs people can make - although that could also make a cool challenge... take 3 colours & go! (for example)
I really would like to deplete these numbers & just be left with my favourites.
So, I am going to start to make a conservative effort to deplete my stock, but first perhaps I should do a nail polish challenge - and post a pic of each colour (like the lip challenge), probably every couple of days - afterall if I like the colour it will be good to check it's wearability as well.
Anyone want to join me?
I have 3 Za liquid eyeliners (one of which is on the go, and I plan to dispose of it at the end of the month - finished or not).
While I also have a lot of hand creams, they are all opened & 'on the go' depending on where they are located. I have two at work, one in the lounge, one by the bed and at least one in my beauty cubby. And then I have a collection of body moisturisers too.
Sometimes, when I'm feeling generous, I'll pass products onto my daughter.
Also, remember that these people are people. Yes they are your dad, and your Aunt, but they are people, and people make mistakes. We dont have to like every person - even family.
As for progress, I would try to explain to your dad, that you do want to spend time with him, but you are struggling to accept these decisions and so if possible could you just spend time without his partner? you could also explain further that this may not last forever, but would give you time to come to terms with the choices he has made.
It may be that there is another underlying concern, you might have, which you are not consious of and re-establishing your own relationship with him, on your own may reasure your subconsious.
what ever you do, I wish you all the best.
it sometimes seems that fewer and fewer people are on the forum these days, which is a shame, as I like a good read, but I guess it's like most things - Quality, not Quanity.
I was wondering how your reviews are going? I'd love to see the site hit 100,000, but it seems to be taking ages, given how many people have joined up!
Personally, I'm trying to pop in a couple a day & I'm waiting on one product to be added...
- do you have a daily/weekly goal? are you holding off until the number gets closer? or are you waiting on products to be added?
Also, my Za Eye liner is lasting forever, I even have a back up one for when it will finally quit, and I know that hygenically I should replace it already, but I want to see how long this baby will last - two eye lines a day :)
