As an avid shopper I spend a lot of time down the local high street, browsing, checking out new releases, looking for bargains. And yet the one place I seldom loiter is the fragrance section of my local Farmers, department store or pharmacies.
Other than my signature scent Dolce Vita, all of the fragrances I own, I've been given. I wear them, some I really like, and yet, when it comes to shelling out my own money, I stick with what I love. Which means I only buy fragrance when it's on special. Because Christian Dior is a lot of things, but wallet-friendly is not one of them.
Knowing I have two back ups in my sock drawer, last night I decided I was in the mood to purchase a different fragrance, so I sat down and read reviews. I started with other Christian Dior fragrances, because, well, stick with what you know right? An hour later and I'm considering buying Taylor Swift. (A part of me died inside admitting that. Lets not dwell on it). I now have a short list I'll head into store with, and after that...I have no idea what will happen. I'll probably come out with a third bottle of Dolce Vita, because true love lasts a lifetime.
Imagine we gave you a blank cheque and told you you had to buy a completely new fragrance. Something you'd never owned before. What would drive you to your choice? Do you see an advert and have to try it? Or maybe you catch a whiff on a friend and based on that you seek it out? Do you read reviews and think 'that sounds like me?'. Or are you a fragrance browser, lingering around the testers in the department store?
Is it the price that motivates you? Do you have a top price that you won't go over, or for your ultimate gotta-have-it scent will your budget flex?
And - have you ever bought a fragrance blind? (Let's skip right on passed that mix-metaphor)
I don’t tend to wear perfumes at work.. but i love soft but sweet subtle fragrances. I love fruity floral notes especially with a hint of raspberry.. blackberry... musk.. or vanilla. The type of perfume i would love to wear would have light and fruity scents such as the light musky raspberry scent of the Coach’s New York Eau De Parfum. I don’t tend to wear very strong perfumes.. but i do get attracted to the sweet caramelly or creamy vanillary smells such as Juicey Coutures Viva la juicey Sucre... Everytime i go past a tester bottle.. i would take home the testing paper with a spray of ‘Sucre’.
