My First time

So as you may have guessed from the title, this was my first time using dry shampoo. Now this wasn't because I didn't know what dry shampoo was, this was because I didn't like the sound of it and the thought of sticky, white residue in my hair had put me off. I finally decided to give it a shot and luckily made the cut to be receive a sample to review - boy was I converted!

Firstly, I LOVE the way this dry shampoo smells. It has a lovely fresh scent that lasts all day and sure does make you feel good, especially if you're like me and forget to wear perfume some days coz you're in a mad rush!

Much to my surprise there was no sticky white residue. There was no stickiness at all - it was a cool dry mist that seemed to mop up my three day old oily hair. There was no residue, not even the slightest bit which was great.

The dry shampoo was easy to apply and the instructions were clear and simple - easy enough for a first timer to follow.

The can was cool and funky, it had me intrigued and made me want to try it.

Once applied, the dry shampoo was very effective and lasted all day.

Like I said I am converted and will definitely be buying more of this.

Handy Spray for Instant Freshness

I’m the type of person who washes her hair every day because of oily hair/scalp when I wake up in the morning (I know it’s bad but I just can’t get myself to skip a day!). However since I started going to gym I felt the need to use dry shampoo because I don’t want to wash my hair more than once a day. Luckily I was able to get the Schwarzkopf got2b Fresh It Up Extra Fresh from BR to try.

The instructions say you’re to spray it to the roots (20cm away from head) and massage with your fingertips before combing it down your hair to get maximum freshness. I followed the instructions and found that it works fast and effectively at getting rid of the grease, especially for mild grease or gym sessions where your hair would get greasy but not wet. After you spray on to your roots, leave it on for a few seconds to let the product work its magic before massaging.

I have short and fine (colored) hair and most of the grease, including the white residue, easily gets dissipated once I massage the dry shampoo onto my scalp. I’ve had trouble getting rid of the white residue from other dry shampoos I’ve tried so this is very convenient as I am often on the go. For me since I have short hair, I only had to comb it down with my fingers a handful of times and my hair looked clean and fresh already. Most of the freshening up gets done when you massage it to your scalp. For moderate workout/grease though, while it freshens up the look of the hair it starts feeling a little bit heavy on my head after about 3 to 4 hours. The hair still looks fresh though so it could be psychological on my part.

I like the smell of the shampoo. My husband even commented saying that it smelled fresh. It has a fresh and slight fruity scent but not too strong which is good for people sensitive with smell like me. I was also flaking when I tried this product and I don’t feel like it had any effect at all in this aspect. Don’t spray too much though. As with most products, it can be too drying to your scalp if you spray too much. What I do is I part about 2 to 3 inches of my hair and spray, massage, then comb. And if I feel that some areas are still a bit more greasy, I part the middle of that area and do another spray of the dry shampoo. Don’t over spray at the get go.

Honey Babe Range Review

Oh Honey!!

I was so excited to receive the Honey Babe baby range by Wild Ferns to review! This will be my first time using anything from Wild Ferns. In this package I reveived a Shampoo & Wash, a Barrier Crème and a Massage Oil.

As for the packaging; the cream and massage oil came in beautiful cream, orange and gold embossed boxes. Its got a picture of a baby on a manuka flower floating on honey. The soap just came by itself. The 100g cream came in a tub with twist top and so did the oil which was 120ml. The soap was 140ml and had a pump bottle. They are convenient size. Easy to travel with and pop in the diaper bag.

Now lets get on to the products: firstly the shampoo & wash has a no tears formula so thats gonna make bathtime so much more fun. It has a mild familiar scent (that for the life of me I cant recognize) and is easily dispensed. 1 pump is ok to wash hair and face but if like me you want lots of lather than by all means use 3-4 pumps for the body. Skin and hair was left soft with a lingering mild scent.

Now for the Barrier Crème; its creamy and very luxurious and thick. I just needed a little bit at a time as it spreads easily on skin and leaves an oily residue ( in a good way!). Its got a mild scent-nothing overpowering. Works okay but need regular application because the cream rubs of easily.

Lastly for the Massage Oil. Where can i start? I just love this product. It will always be my favourite from the bunch. Its easily dispensed. Got a stopper on top which allows only drips to come through so no wastage. Its a little bit thick and has a very pronounced scent. Absolutely delicious which is dangerous cause you dont want to go about biting your baby no matter how sweet he smells! Spreads and absorbs easily on the body leaving a healthy sheen ( note to myself: use on legs after shaving). And also washes out easily. I have used it on my hands before sleeping and its so calming and soothing. And the skin is left soft and supple.

I would recommend parents to give this range a go. They might just find their new favorite. If you only want to try one product than give the massage oil a go. You wont be disappointed.

P.s baby boy didnt react to any of these products and when i asked him his view he said: bababababa pprrrrrrr!

Tips: To get decent lather, I recommend 2-3 pumps of soap on a wet washcloth.

There will be a more in depth review of each product tomorow:)

Schwarzkopf Extra Care Rose Hip Oil Elixir

I was quite excited to be a part of this trial because I have been looking for a new, more affordable hair oil for my super fine and straight hair! Pretty much anything I put in my hair weighs it down. This product claims to be lightweight and also moisturising.

I have used this every day since I received it. I wash my hair almost every day as it does tend to lean a bit towards the greasy side towards to end of the day. After styling, I would take a full pump of this, distribute it between both hands then put it through my hair. I concentrate it towards the ends and make sure nothing gets on the scalp. I have mid-length hair so one pump is all that is needed. I found that even though this oil is very lightweight, my hair would still start to feel quite greasy towards the end of the day as usual – I am assuming this is just my scalp and cannot be attributed to the oil!

The condition of my hair is damaged because I heat style it. By using this product, I have noticed a change in the way my hair feels. It has become softer and I can run my fingers through it without my fingers getting caught in it. It has also become a bit more manageable as I noticed it isn't as frizzy as it can be after a shower. All this in a week!!

The oil comes in a sleek, clear bottle with an easy to use pump. The rose scent may be a bit strong for people that do not enjoy that scent but I think it smells delicious! The scent does last a while. I can smell it for a good part of the day.

The consistency of the product is a bit watery. I found it to be quite messy when I pump it into my palms. I did find that it would splash a bit. I think this is to be expected with such a lightweight product though so it wasn't a big issue for me.

Overall, this is a great hair oil and I would easily repurchase this again. Schwarzkopf are onto a winner with this magical product!

Tips: Careful when pumping this product out - consistency is quite watery so may splash a bit!

Dream Cream

Packaging is semi attractive, a glass jar with a screw top lid nice and basic, I do like glass it’s clean.

This cream is very light and doesn’t feel heavy enough in texture for my dry skin, it comes with a light fragrance reminds me of lilies semi pleasant a little cheep dare I say it, first sniff was like oh ok lets see if this is worth trying.

I stuck with my usual skin care routine and used this in place of my moisturiser (my more expensive one) nothing compares to it ha ha well so I thought

It took my skin a few days to get into the swing of this new product that I do use quite generously (a small broad bean size), I was double dipping the joys of dry thirsty skin, I gently smooth all over my face and neck followed by a gentle pat to push products in ha ha a habit I’ve gotten into and it’s worth trying I even wipe my hands on the back of my neck a very neglected area. Anyhow it soaked nicely in without leaving me shiny or feeling tacky. Ive been left moisturised all day with no dry patches, I can even wipe my face with a wet cloth ( when I’m working in dirt) and I just top up with sunscreen no need to remonstrance that’s a biggie for me.

I have noticed an improvement I’m definitely more hydrated all day and with that I can see a small improvement in my smaller lines. Softer skin that doesn’t slurp up the next product I use the old faithful sunscreen as this moisturiser doesn’t contain any and I’m fine with that as I don’t mind sticking extra sun cream on and BB or foundation sits nicely on top even powder glides on.

As the weeks have gone on a definite improvement to the point I will be saying cherrio to my more experience cream and pop this little beauty in its place

Will I purchase this for sure some of us old girls need a helping hand. I’m liking this very much who says you can’t mix and match brands. Not only will I save my skin it will save some dollars.

Tips: Give this cream a good pat on your skin to push it in, cleanse serum cream follow with sunscreen I didn't use the same range and got a great result.

Budget price tag but pure class!

I'm really enjoying skin care products now I'm in my 50s. I've gone from religiously sticking to the same moisturiser to experimenting and enjoying so many incredible products. What I've found is that when it comes to skin care, you very much get what you pay for, so I'm not going to lie - my expectations for a $20 cream were low.

Well.

I stand corrected like the very-wrong-skincare-snob I am.

The packaging is standard L'oreal, it doesn't feel cheap. I don't actually mind pottles, I use a wee spatula so its not a drama for me.

Ok having '55+' smeared across the front was a bit, 'this bathroom belongs to someone OLD', but then again, at least I'll be able to find it on the supermarket shelf!

The cream itself is light and non greasy, but it still feels incredibly rich and hydrating. I definitely noticed an immediate hydration. I love that its not overpoweringly scented too.

So I've been using it for a month and my skin looks and feels hydrated, plump and smooth. Its soft to touch and looks a lot less sallow.

Is it botox in a tub? No. Do I want it to be? No. If a $20 cream can give soft, supple and younger looking skin - I'm very happy!

Definitely look out for this one!

This is a wonderful fragrance that I personally would choose to wear more in winter than summer, as for me, it tends to be slightly heavy. On initial application you get a heady smell of roses & if this is where the fragrance ended I probably would choose not to wear as I'm not a lover of rose scents, but this fragrance is full of surprises because as it warms to your skin, you get a whiff of peony & leaves a lingering warm fruity, amber like scent. For me it's a definite must have!

Tips: A little goes a long way with this fragrance,so apply to pulse points rather than spraying indiscriminately

love the review -I will be checking this one out now.

Love your description because the initial blurb about roses would've put me off it, so its good to know it's not too 'rosy'.

I'm Confused

Got two huge bottles last year and I really just don't understand how I'm supposed to use it,or maybe I just never found the need to? I've never had sunburns/irritations since I got them so I never tested in that aspect. I did have really bad acne breakouts and I do spray this on my face in the morning or in the middle of the day but I just don't feel any different afterwards. The redness on my face still looks hella mad at me so I don't feel like they soothe acne-related irritations. I suppose it does feel a bit cooling for the first few minutes after I spray it on but nothing that a nice cold glass of water can't do. I also tried using it to dampen my make-up brush or sponge and it didn't end up well. The concealer on my face oxidized and it was so hard to blend after that. I'm really not sure if I'm using this properly. Maybe a smaller bottle would be good to bring with me to a long-haul flight but it's definitely not something I would 'need' to bring with me nor spend on. I'm probably not going to repurchase.

What a sugary gem!

I was thrilled to bits to get on this trial. I love sugar scrubs and usually make my own so I was excited to try this out. It comes in a sturdy glass jar with a screw on lid. Looks quite simple but luxurious.

My skin is very dry at the moment so the word nourishing really appeals to me. First the smell, omg it smells like chocolate! I love it, it is not overpowering at all. It is quite thick and a rich brown so also looks a bit like chocolate, unfortunately it does not taste too good! Lol that was an accidental taste test when I used it on my lips, it left them super smooth though.

I like to use this in the shower, I wet my face a little and scoop a bit out then massage around my face, the sugar is so fine so it is not too harsh which is nice, it gives a nice light exfoliation then it melts into my skin, simply rinse off and boom, beautiful soft skin!

It does not leave my face feeling tight at all and it feels quite moisturised. I have sensitive skin and got no burning or redness. It is even gentle enough to use everyday as that is what I have been doing.

A gorgeous sugar scrub which I would purchase when it runs out. Definitely recommend for ladies with dry skin. Love it!

Great Colours Super Stay Debatable

Well, I have to admit I absolutely loved the colour! when applying the product I found the applicator a little odd with a hole in the middle of the sponge-like end. Maybe this is a new thing but it did prevent me from having to redip to apply more and it didnt leak out when applying so that was great. The first day I used it found it lasted most of the day I was actually quite impressed as the most colour starts to disappear within hours but this product I managed to get a good 8 hours out of it, so a big thumbs up. The second day is where things fell apart a little I was disappointed at a function I went to my lip colour left lumpy lip ink on my wine glass and this wasn't just a small amount either it was clearly obvious (don't worry I know you are never going to prevent that) but compared to the other ladies my glass looked terribly worse and obvious. Overall I would use it again sparingly maybe with a non-sheen lip moisturiser to help prevent transfer and the colour is absolutely fantastic.

Tips: Use a lip moisturiser to help prevent transfer to glasses when out to functions.
