You Won't Believe The Household Item That Gives Great Skin!

Potentially embarassing Kellie Confession - I am a bit obsessed with the Duchess of Cambridge.

I love her hair. Her makeup. Her dress sense... well most of the time. I enjoy her Mum clothing, though sometimes I feel the mark is missed on the formal wear. But then, the fact I have an opinion on that shows how I care... probably too much, haha.

One thing I'm especially interested in is what she chooses to put on her face, and what her skincare regime looks like. I've read she's a fan of Trilogy's Rosehip Oil, but more recently I read an interview with her makeup artist, Arabella Preston, in which she impressed upon the interviewer the need to use a flannel when cleaning one's face.

Now (and despite what all the headlines will have you believe) at no point in the article does Arabella say the Duchess does this herself, but I do like to imagine she might. So, what's so good about the flannel? And why do we need to get it on our face?

According to Arabella Preston a good flannel is less harsh than a motorised cleanser brush but allows you to gently exfoliate your skin while ridding yourself of makeup and dirt. However, it must be combined with an oil cleanser. So the deal is you oil cleanse as you usually would, then take a steamy hot flannel, place it over your face and then wipe off your makeup and the day's residue.

Something I do on occasion aready! What!? Now that it gets the tick of approval from the Duchess' makeup artist I'm going to have to break out the flannel a bit more often I think!

So do tell, are you on board with this potentially royally approved method of cleansing? Is it something you're now keen to try? Do you love imagining Kate hanging out a week's worth of flannels on the line as much as I do? When will the obsession end.... Chat away!

Ooh I've been wanting to try oil cleansing with a micro fibre cloth too!

I pretty much only use a flannel when removing my mud masks.

I've been doing this for a few years now ever since I started using the oil cleanse.

Best thing I've done for my skin was starting hot cloth cleansing with a flannel a couple of years ago. I do it every time I remove make up. My mum's skincare routine has always consisted of just a hot flannel so I'm not sure why I've been so slow on the uptake lol.

I don't use an oil cleanser (but would love to try one), but I do use a hot flannel to remove makeup, although not every day as I'm lazy and used wipes lol

I love flannels their my go to these days.

I would like to use a flannel every night, however I don't like to do all that extra laundry of washing those greasy flannels. So if I have makeup on I remove that first before I do my oil cleanse and then follow up with a gel cleanser to get off the residue. I do use a flannel to cleanse off some of my mud masks though because then I only have to wash that flannel once a week.

i use a hot flannel after an oil cleanse, it's lovely, as fast as makeup wipes and so much better!

I use a flannel at night. Exfoliate, wash off with a wet flannel (warm!) dry my face and neck then use a cotton ball to wipe over a 50/50 mixture of cider vinegar and water. My skin feels so clean and germ-free afterwards.

I love doing this - I'm pretty sure it was a Trilogy makeup remover that I started this with - absolutely lovely way to relax for a few minutes at the end of the day.

I usually use my small manicure brush along with a cream cleanser. I do however have a ZA oil cleanser patiently waiting to be opened so will have to give this a go ;-)

I do actually cleanse like that anyway. Who knew the duchess and I had something in common hehe. Good to know I wasn't wasting my time then.

Hot flannels are fantastic some reason they are even better when the beauty therapist puts it on think it's all in the draping

4th July, 2017

Ive been doing this for awhile now i love the feeling of a hot flannel on my face to remove the days grime, haven't used it with a oil cleanser though but i could be tempted :)

Old fashioned idea returned -sometimes you just have to get back to basics -Not too hot though as can break the small capillaries on your skin.

True that - if it was good enough for Mum, then it's probably better than most things we have today! (still banging on about the egg white face pack of course!)
