Have You Used an Elizabeth Arden Foundation Before?

Applying foundation is a tricky task.  It really is a skill that you learn through trial and error.  Brush, wedge, sponge, your fingers - each tool has it's pros and cons, and each tool works differently depending on the format of foundation.

Today we're looking at a cream foundation, which generally, are great for providing medium to full coverage, being easily buildable.  And this foundation comes complete with its own applicator too!  Oh.  And one of the ingredients......diamonds.  Actual diamonds!

Recently Elizabeth Arden improved their best-selling and beloved Flawless Finish Sponge-On Cream Makeup. The new formula delivers more of what was great about the orginal foundation:

  • more radiance-boosting benefits
  • improved complexion-perfecting ingredients
  • increased moisturising
  • a natural luminous finish that lasts all day.

Infused with micronized diamond powder, this light-reflecting foundation manipulates and scatters light to diffuse the look of imperfections. Immediately, the look of fine lines, pores, blemishes, scars and dark spots are diminished. Skin appears smoother and more even in tone, as luminosity and radiance are boosted. This moisturising formula offers medium to full coverage that feels comfortable and lasts all day.

And if you think the formula sounds amazing, how about the double-deck compact that's great for travel and on-the-go touchups. Open the top cover to reveal the cream foundation and a mirror, and flip up the bottom level for a contoured application sponge.

So, we think the interest in reviewing this for us is going to be high, so without further ado it's time to put your hand up.

How easy do you find it to apply foundation? If your regular foundation comes with an applicator, do you use it?  Or do you have a favourite foundation tool, independant to the foundation itself?  And what about your experiences with Elizabeth Arden foundations?

OMG I would LOVE to try this foundation! I have never used an EA foundation but have read a bit about them. What I like the sound of is that they are a cream (which I use) and offer medium to full coverage which is what I need. I have facial burn scarring and find it difficult to find a decent foundation that covers well and stays put also. I currently use a cheap cream foundation as we are on a budget due to being on 1 wage :)

I have only recently started using a blending sponge for my foundation after being lucky enough to trial the Manicare one. I am hooked! It is sooo much easier to use & I can add a little more where I need it & it blends so much better than fingers or a brush. I have not tried Elizabeth Arden foundation but it does sound like it would really suit my skin as I have some blemishes appearing (they are not age spots yet!!!). I was just thinking this morning that I need a bit more coverage..... Having a sponge in with it sounds great - less to carry around.

I am not the best when it comes to applying foundation.. I generally end up sticking with BB cream as I find it more forgiving. I might not have found the right one for me as I look ok when its applied but before too long I feel like its emphasizing the lines around my eyes. This might be me applying it incorrectly also or all in my head as no one ever mentions it (and my partner definitely would mention something out of place lol). I would be interested in giving this a try to see if it works better for me

Yes! I've used several of their foundations, including an earlier version of this compact. The older version was never quite the right shade for me - some ran too yellow and some had a pinker base but were too dark. A shame, since the feeling and finish was really nice. The coverage was buildable. There was a sponge included, which I assume the new version does too, but it should be washed and changed out often to prevent bacterial build up. in larger, bulkier packaging that was in a black and gold colour scheme. Hoping that since the previous version was already good, that this version will be even nicer. Would love to try this product for comparison.

Would love to try this! I am a big fan of on-the-go products. I like a simple, effortless morning routine and this sounds perfect. I’m currently using a chanel tinted moisturiser and love this. But I would love to find a product with a bit more coverage for evenings out :). This looks so perfect!!!

I would love to try this, Elizabeth Arden have a fantastic reputation and my mother never used anything else. Now I am an older lady myself I would love to find out why she liked it so much.

As an older woman one of my favourite Elizabeth Arden foundations is the Ceramide Lift & Firm Creme Foundation. Obviously I don't believe the lift and firm claims - otherwise it would be a cosmecutical product, not makeup. It is highly moisturising, leaving a soft glow finish and over a primer it lasts all day without creasing. The consistency is true cream, and it is medium to full coverage, though I thin it out with a damp beauity blender. It is perfect for winter, though in the NZ summer it slides off the face by afternoon unless you go easy on the underneath layers of moisturiser. PS I never wear powder - so others may find setting it with powder works for them - I only use a setting spray. It also never seems to grab dry patches of skin. They also do a perfect match for neutral beige skin, which is very hard to match in other makes. I hate the pot container, as I don't think this is very hygenic, but I love this for the winter months so will persevere.

Ahhhhhhhh.... I have the fondest memories of Elizabeth Arden covering cream, sadly discontinued years ago for reasons I will never know. It was amazing coverage, applied like a dream and the colour was absolutely perfect. I've never found a foundation since that's given me the same level of coverage, and alternate between a range of brands- Revlon and Maybelline and Mac. I would absolutely love to be apart of this trial and see if there are any similarities to my lon missed fav!

Great timing! I'm in between foundations at the moment - as my skin is aging (I'm coming up to 40) I've found my needs are also changing. My skin tends to be normal-dry, and is starting to get patchy and lose radiance - this foundation sounds perfect! I've been using a powder-based mineral makeup, and have been experimenting with a liquid foundation as well - and for both, I'm actually using an old Thin Lizzy brush to blend my foundation! It works so well! I'd be interested to see how the Elizabeth Arden applicator goes.

Would love to try this foundation. As a mother of a toddler and a nurse I need a foundation that goes in quickly and easily and stays on throughout the day. I would love a product that provides medium coverage without too effort.

I'm still looking for THE foundation, I have combination skin tending towards dry, I use a sponge to apply these days but I have to mix 3 types of foundations just to get it acceptable, would love to try this!

I currently use a makeup brush to apply my foundation which I find it smoothes over nicer and I didn’t like using my hands on my face as it may cause breakouts. I’m currently using thin Lizzy foundation which is lovely but I am on the lookout for something with a better coverage and lasts longer especially as I’m into my fitness. I’d love to be selected for this amazing trial as I have never tried Elizabeth Arden foundation but have used their amazing mascara and lipsticks which I loved

With aging comes a lot of changes that sometimes happen over night. I have never had an issue with skin having an uneven tone and looking dull until about a year ago. I am yet to find something that even out without looking cakey or feeling cakey. As the years have past, my skin, from laughing, crying, frowning to name but a few, have contributed to my reflection in the mirror having a few more lines that I would rather not see or try and at least slow them down lol, to be visible even with a few foundations that I have tried and techniques. The lines seem to look more obvious, some foundations more so than others. Don't get me started on the pores situation. So I would love to test this product as over all I think if I could find one that at least ticks one of the boxes for me I think we would become best friends for life. I find applying foundation relatively easy and able to sculpt out what I need to. I have a favorite kabuki brush that I like to use for all my foundations except one that I prefer to use a silicon pad as the coverage is smoother and works for that product. If there is a sponge or applicator with a product I have purchased it usually just gets left in the compact and used for cushioning to stop the product from breaking up. Personally I have never used an Elizabeth Arden cosmetic product. I wasn't a fan of the maroon coloured compacts they used to produce. (silly reason I know) Now being a little wiser in years packaging isn't the end all, if a product works for the needs you have set, that is worth lookingat packaging that isn't the prettiest. Their new packaging however looks really nice and has a classy feel to it.

I am usually a mineral loose powder foundation with brush girl, as I always struggle with blending & finding a colour that matches my skin - I have lots of pigmentation. So I'd love to trial Elizabeth Arden foundation and see what magic the diamonds can do for me :-)

16th October, 2018

I usually use liquid foundations or BB creams as I really like being able to control the coverage I apply and I generally try for a lighter look. I ADORE how much faster you can apply powder and cream foundations that are easy to apply quickly with a sponge, but I just find that they tend to look heavier and more cakey, so I'd love to try a cream foundation like the Elizabeth Arden that's designed for a more medium coverage!
