5 simple things you'll NEVER be able to do again once you...

18 April, 2018 - 07:36pm by - First Lady | 28 Comments

1.  Itch your face.  You're rocking the new manicure.  Next thing, you cheek itches.  Your eye itches.  Your nose itches.  And however gently you scratch, 1 of 2 things will happen.  You will bleed or your makeup will smudge.

2.  Type...anything.  Nails on, time to put them to work right? The vibrations.  The missed keys.  The tap tap tap.  Number one tip for typing with erm, tips?  Spell check.

3.  Open seemingly harmless but necessary packs.  Seriously, it's like your falsies go on and your lips need more lip balm than they ever had in their life.  Lip gunk under your nails is so not vogue.  And yes, we could use a lip balm stick, or even EOS, but fiddly lids are the enemy.  See the next point.

4.  Crack open essentials.  Ringpulls.  Puncture packs.  Peel back lids.  Diet Coke, Gum and Pringles just became mission impossible.  And a serious hazard - have you ever pinged off an acrylic when opening a can of DC?  Worst pain ever.

5.  Get into your own clothes (let alone someone else's!).   Clothes re now impossible to get in to.  Zips.  Buttons.  Pulling skinny jeans up your legs.  Laddering your tights.  Bugger it, lets go back to the old days and just wear a sheet.

And, after a quick poll of BRHQ - here's some other things you just can't do with falsies on:

  • Pinch someone. Seriously it's nigh on impossible.
  • Use your touchscreen.
  • Put in your contacts.
  • Wrap a present.  Or use any kind of tape for anything.
  • Hold anything without channeling your inner hand model.  Look at my new feather duster.  I'm really showing you my nails, not looking for a compliment...really!

So - are you a falsie girl?  What do you sacrifice for the slayin' manicure?

Eek I don't even like growing my own nails longer than my fingertips! Definitely will never be one for fake nails.

I have never had acrylics, all I have ever had is gel on my nails, it is a pain because you have to go back to the salon to get it removed, that is time and money. I am sticking to doing it myself, I have heaps of nail polish I need to use.

I’ve never had acrylic nails before . I can’t in my job . I’ll be rocking short natural nails :(

no not a falsie -I work really hard to keep my own nails at a really good length however I must admit gardening even with gloves does not help.

20th April, 2018

Not so much a problem anymore because I hardly carry cash, but picking up coins off a bench or counter used to be SO hard!

I cant do falsie...i just end up taking them off. however i do love a good manicure :0

I've always wanted to try but I struggle even with just long nails ! I used to sport long nails when I was younger and then I would often scratch them against smooth surfaces. Oh boy the sound would be ringing in my head the whole day. It was torture!

I haven't worn acrylics in years - I wouldn't go back to them. I do remember when I had them though - picking up a eftpos card, or a coin dropped - impossible to pick them up - and I provided great amusement to people while they watched me trying to pick my card off floor!

I stopped wearing arcrylics in my late teens they ruined my nails. I'm nearing thirty now and almost completely recovered. I just do my own mani's on my real nails. The worst I did with my arcrylics was try and open my car door. It must have been a wrong angle or something my nail snapped off I was devastated at the time and it was so painful.

19th April, 2018

I'm not brave enough to get acrylics so my manis are just on my real nails. I've mastered no. 4 by using objects to help me open things (i.e paper clips for fizzy cans).

Haha some of these are funny. I don't do fake nails as mine grow well...hmmm most of the time.

The worst thing I did was left scratch marks around the handles of my new chest of drawers. They're still there, years and years later :(

18th April, 2018

It's funny because I've been growing my nails out and have sort of adapted to be able to do most of these things. When my thumb nail snapped last week I found that my typing on my phone has majorly been altered because I've gotten used to long thumbnails.

I've never really tried false nails again since then...

Part of the reason why I have never had acrylics don't want to damage my natural nails, plus the cost of upkeep.
