Neutrogena hydro boost water gel day cream

The day cream was a little confusing to me, with all 4 products I didnt know where to put this one as i prefer the Neutrogena SPF15 water gel.

The packing of the Hydro boost is gorgeous, the jars look expensive and luxurious, the theme of hydration is all over this beautiful range. When using this and the night concentrate I have to double check I open the right one because they are the same jar and packaging.

The formula is very similar to the night concentrate without the beads, its a thick and creamy formula that has a silicone feel to it. When you rub this onto your skin it feels smoother and softer but too thick for when Im applying makeup. I use the day cream for when im at home and im not wearing any makeup, it keeps my skin moisturized for the whole day, there is no sign of dryness when using the day cream. It instantly hydrates your skin once applied, a quick and easy fix to those dry areas.

Overall the day cream is great, a few things to note is the day & night cream are similar in packaging and the day cream you cant really wear under foundation. It is still a great product.

Good but not amazing...

First thing I noticed when I received this product was the "High end" look Nutrogena have gone for with the packaging, the ocean blue tub looks amazing although it is quite bulky so wouldn't be ideal for travelling. The product has a pleasantly light and refreshing scent that isn't too strong which I love and the texture is Kind of like a thick watery gel and Its consistency is thin, runny and translucent. Only a small amount is needed and I assume the tub would last a couple of months even being used twice a day so that's a bonus! Because of the texture It glides smoothly over my face and absorbs very quickly leaving my skin feeling velvety, soft and smooth no stickiness at all that I experience with other moisturisers. Im not sure it doubles skin moisture as it claims too, maybe if it was used in conjunction with the other products from this range... I found the dry areas of my face (nose & cheeks) to still be a little flakey BUT I do think I will purchase in the future because it does make my face feel nice and smooth and Ithink is great to wear as a primer before make up :)

Tips: A pea sized amount is all that's need for the whole face.

Neutrogena hydro boost

First things first the packaging was perfect. It reminds you of water. It smells fresh and looks refreshing. Just looking at it makes you think your skin is going to feel instantly hydrated. When I first applied this It soaked into my skin instantly and I definitely didn't use it sparingly then I waited for it to dry and apply my BB cream over top. Big fail. It just turned into a mess I tried this several times less gel more BB cream then more gel less BB cream and nothing worked so I gave up and used just the gel over a good 8 days my skin has changed. I have noticed the fine lines around my eyes have smoothed out and my skin does feel smooth and does feel hydrated. Over these 8 days I very reluctantly gave up my serum so I could make a fair review. This would be an awesome summer must have as it reminds me of summer and after sun gel. It instantly cools your face. I never had any breakouts using this gel which is one thing I love about it. I would probably consider buying this again. Especially over summer on days I can get away with not wearing BB cream or make up

Tips: Just use the gel on its own. Under a BB cream doesn't work unless somebody has a good tip on how to??

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel

First of all Love the packaging that this product came in I am in love with the blue/silver packaging and the simple style of the blue potttle which is GREAT. When opened the smell of the product is minimal and pleasing, definitely not an overpowering product, some of nutrogenas products are quite perfumy but this isnt! The texture of the product is a light pale ble gel, this was extremely pleasing as I have never used a light gel on my face I have always used the thick consistency products. I am also always sceptical of using anything that contains an "Acid" as my skin is so sensitive that it reacts with anything unnatural on my face but so far so good with this product. The most noticeable effect from this gel is how your skin feels within 30 minutes of applying the product, my skin was so incredibly soft although I had a slight tingle on my skin from the ingredients it never eventuated into any reaction. It didnt help that I am in early pregnancy and the fact that my skin is breaking out like no tomorrow so I cannot review this product in that respect. In terms of keeping my skin hydrating for elongated periods of time I didn’t notice any incredible difference. All in all not the worst and not the, best 3 out of 5 for this :)

Hydro boost water gel

I was very exited to try this gel when I saw this clear blue jar and this name " HYDRO BOOST WATER GEL" on first time. Also they say Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel double’s skins moisture in just 1hr!? I thought I couldn't image what would happened in 1hr but It sounds what I need. And I am using this for 2 weeks, still I haven't got clue about it. This gel is light gel and spread on skin very nicely.(one finger top size is enough to spread on my face and neck.) It gives me cool fresh feeling and I could feel like my skin is getting hydrating and after this gel disappear my skins are very smooth. And what???? It didn't really moisturized me.Through a day I feel my skin needs more!! To be honest, It is nothing specially boost up thing happened to me. Is it because I have a dry skin??? hmmm... I am a kind of disappointed. I like this texture and I am going to finish to use it. Hopefully I will find something special about this gel and I f I did, I will review again.

Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel

I liked the blue pot the creme was packaged in. The creme has a lovely soft feel to it and is easy to apply to the skin.It is light but a little tacky to start with but this soon disappears leaving a nice smooth feel to the skin. My skin definitely felt hydrated after using this product. It is has a lovely fresh fragrance but this may be a problem for people who are allergic to fragrance.I was pleasantly surprised with this creme because I was a bit worried about the list of ingredients in it especially the methylisothiazolinone which causes a lot of allergic reactions. It worked well for both evening and morning and was great under foundation. I would use this product again

Tips: The creme spreads well and is absorbed really quickly so a small amount is needed

Great for oily skin

The look of this product is on point. Well packaged, sleek and clean look. Great choice of colours for this product, calming and fresh looking. The gel itself has a great mild scent. The gel texture is very different to general moisturizers. Took me a few days to get used to. It is absorbed very quickly without any feeling of over application. Its quite good at making your skin feel smooth & soft to touch. I have unbalanced skin and found it beneficial for the oily parts of my face, not so much for the normal/dry parts. It doesn't offer enough moisture for me, but it's light and fresh for the days my skin is more balanced.

Tips: Light enough to use under foundation, absords so quick you can move on to foundation application without delay.

my first go at using a gel

I was really excited to receive this product in the beauty vault from a mystery box. I had seen the superheroes at the time trialing this range and I was itching to get my hands on It! I wasn't totally sure when this product was supposed to be used for. I prefer my day creams to have sunscreen in them so I decided to use this at nightime instead.

My first impressions of the jar is that it is a beautiful blue color and the jar just looks luxurious. It definitely doesn't look like a cheap product, it more reminds me of something high end. When you open the pot, you see a light blue substance (which is actually white, the packaging just makes it look blue), and it has a really nice fragrance. It's light and fresh and slightly sweet.

When you look at the gel, it's half opaque white and half see through. I was expecting something like Aloe Vera gel but it just seems like a light cream. I find you only need a really small amount to do your whole face and it absorbs so quickly. I can touch my face 2 minutes Ater I've applied and it isn't sticky at all and just feels soft.

initially I was just using this on its own as a night cream. For the first hour after applying, my skin feels nice but then I find my face starts feeling a bit tight and dry. I do have dry to very dry skin. I decided to start using it as a primer instead before applying some richer face cream after. I've used about half the jar doing it this way and I think it works well for me. I haven't had breakouts from it and is enjoyable to apply in the evenings.

I'm not totally sure if I'll buy this exact product again but I wouldn't mind trying a different product from the same range out. I think this range is probably suited more for oily skin, not skin as dry as mine. So I would recommend to someone with oily skin to give it a go and see if it works out.

Bit heavy for a day cream

At first I was a little confused as to what I should do with this gel, I had also been given another with added SPF15 which I assumed was the day version of the night concentrate, so what was this chunky jar for and how was I going to apply it in my daily routine. There was no guidance on the box, or on their website to refer to. As I have really dry skin in areas I decided to pop it on as a substitute to a serum or oil that I usually apply before I put on my day or night cream. This was fine for the first few days but then my combination skin decided that it was far too much moisture for my skin and started to act out with excess oily areas along the T-Zone and a few pimple outbreaks, so I stopped using this as a serum/oil replacement and instead used it on odd days instead of the water gel with SPF15 added as it felt like it needed to be a day cream, which was better.

Design wise, I love this in its aqua blue casing, the whole jar is made to feel chunky as it has a outer layer of clear acrylic around it, the lid being of a pale blue steel look was easy to use, even with excess gel over my hands it was solid enough to twist on and off without dropping it. Overall I do love how they look on my bedside cabinet, very stylish and chic.

Formula, as it states it’s a water gel; the texture is a cross between a gel and a cream, slightly softer and less tacky, sticky then an actual gel but the quick absorption of a gel. Being a pale blue colour it gave a very good example of what we would expect water to look like in a gel state. It has very light fragrance, if any; I never actually detected any as I was using it. This gel never felt tacky, sticky or left any reside on my fingers, it also wasn’t irritating at all.

Application, quick and easy, a dollop on the end of your middle finger warmed up in your palms then spread across your face quickly gets absorbed and left my skin feel soft and plump with moisture I did notice an almost instant relief to the very dry patches so their claim of doubling skin moisture within an hour is very true!

Hydrating

I was selected to review this product and also won another 50g as part of a prize pack. The container is really robust and the grey/silver lid easily screws on and off the beautiful translucent blue container. After unscrewing the lid a second lid sits on top of the opening of the container like a plug. I think it's a really great idea to prevent waste and gel leaking out of the lid if dropped or knocked over. The second lid is pastel light blue and has a raised portion to pull the lid off. I found it came off easily the first time but, really acted like plug the next few times. I found it difficult to get the lid off because the raised portion is only about half a centimeter high and is not easy to grip onto or pull upwards when the lid forms a seal.

The actual gel appears to be a blue tinged cream but quickly becomes translucent gel that feels like silk as soon as it's on my skin. It feels amazing to apply and smells fresh. The moisturising gel soaks into my skin really quickly and leaves my skin feeling soft, silky and supple after application. My skin feels hydrated with this product and a little can go a long way.

I have combination skin and am prone to break outs. Compared to my usual moisturiser, Hydro Boost Water Gel doesn't prevent my skin from becoming oily by the end of the day and I have had a bit of a break out since using it. I can't say whether this is due to the product though and I wouldn't have dared to trial it if it wasn't oil free.

Neutrogena's Hydro Boost Water Gel keeps my skin hydrated but, I would use it with caution if you have oily/combination skin, even though it is an oil free product.
