Manicare Flawless Complexion Sponge Review
1 members found this review useful
Works but not the best I've used

I received this sponge in the best ever beauty box nude collection. I prefer using sponges to put on my foundation as I think they work best for my dry skin. I hadn't seen this instore or even knew that this brand made a sponge but I was looking forward to trying it out.

This is a nice pink colour which I really like. Pink is my fave colour and just makes me feel better by seeing it. It has one rounded end and one flat end. I like this, it reminds me a lot of my real techniques sponge and I really do enjoy using a sponge with a flat edge.

To use this, you need to let it absorb some water and then wring out the excess. It does say you can use this dry but I tried once and didn't think it did as good of a job. The texture of this sponge is kind of odd, very different to me anyway. I've only used the real techniques and proper beauty blender before. When they are wet, they are quite light and very soft. This sponge stays quite dense and almost has a doughy feeling when you squish it. It is definitely not as soft to bounce over my face but I've gotten used to it after using it a few times. I feel like it gives me a really nice finish, just the same as what I would expect from a more expensive sponge.

While I don't think I'd actively seek out this sponge, I'd repurchase if I saw it on sale or if I needed to get one from a store instead of waiting online.

I think it would depend on the texture of the bb Cream? I tried using it with the za one but it didn't work at all. I think the za was maybe too Thin? A thicker product would probably be OK.

Collection Cosmetics No Clumps Mascara Review

Collection No Clumps Mascara - Review

I found this mascara on sale a while ago, and figured I may as well try it as I was looking for a less clumpy mascara than the one I was currently using (Maybelline Mega Plush) and I was surprised with the quality of it!

The packaging is quite sleek, simple and I am a huge fan of the brush which is plastic with short bristles. It's really great for combing through your lashes (for no clumps!) and works really well with the formula.

The mascara has quite a wet formula, and it darkens and lengthens your lashes quite a bit, however isn't too dramatic so it's good for an everyday look.

It lasts better than some of the waterproof mascaras I have, especially on my oily eyelids, and is very good for both top and bottom lashes. Most importantly, it both holds a curl and curls lashes naturally.

I will probably be repurchasing this once I use all my other mascaras up, as it's just perfect for me and the price is great too!

I just opened this one up this morning, I wasn't sure of the brush to start with but I was pleasantly surprised by how well it works.

Trilogy Hydrating Mist Toner

Feels nice when you spray it on

I got this in one of the Beauty Review boxes. Trilogy is definitely one brand I like to receive. I haven't liked everything I've tried but most of them anyway. I also like that this is a NZ brand but it can be a bit pricey to buy from the store.

The packaging of this is really nice. It comes in a spray bottle which I love. It's also glass and is brown. I think being brown helps stop the light from detoriating it? I'm not totally sure on that one though. There is 100mls of product in this. Not a huge amount I guess but it will last a while. I use this twice a day and have been using it for around 2 months now and I'm just over halfway through the bottle.

I like to use this as a toner after cleansing, both morning and night. I usually do 5 sprays and that is ample enough to do my whole face and neck. It sprays out really find so I don't get large droplets of liquid settling on areas of my face. It also dries down pretty quickly two. Maybe 1 or 2 minutes. I've used this a couple of times during the day over makeup, it feels really nice but I don't see any difference in how my makeup looks after.

I do have very dry skin, but I can't say that I've noticed any hydrating effects from this. Initially when I spray, my face feels good but quite quickly after it dries down, my skin feels tight.

I like that this has good ingredients in it. Like the rose, aloe and lavender. It also smells nice too, a strong hint of rose but a bit of herbalness as well. I don't think I could bring myself to buy it at full price though. I'd maybe pick it up if there was some special deal on it but I'm not 100% sure on that yet though. I will happily finish this bottle up and I'm also considering keeping the spray bottle to put other toners in to use as well.

Clinique All About Eyes Review

avereage

i like clinique brand and heard great reviews for this eye cream so i bought it from farmers. first of all i like little glass jar with silver lid on. its so cute. cream is just like little bit gel when you put on thats gives you cooling effect which i love it. great for summer according to my opinion. you can use under eye makeup. this cream didn't work for me. its says remove under eye circle and fine line so i had finished my whole jar but didn't see any kind of difference. my fine lines are there and dark circle too. cream consistency is not thick and very light .when you puts on doesn't feel heavy at all. i would like add another thing i prefer eye cream under my concealer because of my dry eyelid.but still fell dry on eyelid so that's means doesn't provide hydration for dry eyelid

Tips: good for tired eyes...but not for fine lines and dark circle.

Not worth the price

I was super excited to get this because of all the hype around it, I ended up getting the shade Moonstone because I have more fair skin but I think I should have got Opal instead. The formula is nice enough but I was under the impression it would give more of a wet look, similar to the Mac Extra dimension skin finishes, but it ended up looking exactly like my TheBalm Mary Lou. There also isn't a lot of product in the pan either, you can see the bottom of the pan through the product because it's so thin. It's a great highlighter and gives a beautiful finish and a nice champagne colour but especially in NZ where you're paying $60 for it, it's definitely not worth it when there are plenty of other products that are similar out there that are way more afforable

I have both moonstone and opal. Opal is way, way better. I got my opal in a mini size from beauty bliss, might be a good way for you to try it without paying $60 for one?

Oxygen Organic Eye Creme Review

Little pot goes a long way

Morning and night I have been using this since it arrived a month ago as a freebie in my Indulge pack. I must say that I expected great things as I absolutely love this brands serum. The packaging is cute... petite and very classy. It has a wee sticker on its base to say when it is good until as well (mine says 6 2017). I did crack the lid somehow too (I didn't do it up tight and it hasn't been dropped). I love that it is all natural ingredients (no nasties), made in NZ and not tested on animals. I have been diligent in using it morning and night and it feels light and soothing, not sticky or greasy... so I am loving it on those counts. It has no detectable scent yet their other products I own smell of soft vanilla or honey.

My eyes watered a little the first time I used it so I might have gotten it on my tear line? but it was fine the next day and didn't hurt my eyes at all. I expected to see an improvement in my eye area as per the product claims but alas I am not seeing much change (if any) to fine lines after a whole month of use. Now I didn't expect miracles but some improvement even if visibly small... I took before photos and compared them too. My eye areas skin texture is however more soft, but otherwise no different. I am disappointed but still love my Oxygen Serum.

That's not good that it dried up! I have about 1/4 to 1/3 left so I'm hoping I can get through all mine before it dries out.

Oh that's odd... maybe it's a packaging fault then? I just blamed myself but couldn't figure out how lol. It does dry the product out eventually as well... I had to throw out the last of it as it went solid like a soap before I could finish it all.

By nature Body Lotion Kiwifruit/Aloe Vera Review
1 members found this review useful
Super cheap and works ok

I bought a big 500ml bottle of this from The Warehouse when this brand was quite new. I'd never heard of their products before but this was $4 and I couldn't pass it up. There was this scent and one other to choose from that came in a red bottle. I can't think of what 'flavour' that one was but this one appealed to me more. Kiwifruit and aloe vera seems like such an interesting combination. Anyway, this has been sitting in my lotion collection and I'm finally just using it now. I've used almost half of the bottle so I think I'm pretty set in what I think of it.

Packaging wise, this is very simple but it's also very practical. The bottle is thin enough to squeeze product out and the easy press open cap is handy to use. I hate having to muck around with unscrewing caps, I'd rather spend that extra 10 seconds elsewhere. The writing is simple but it does tell you that this has no parabens and a bunch of other long words which I presume mean something bad that you don't want in your products. So that's nice to know you can get something very cheap that isn't filled with things you don't want on your body. This is also a New Zealand product so it's nice to support our country in that way.

This lotion is a thin consistency, it's not like water runny but it will run a bit if you lift your hand up. The scent is nice. It's fresh and sweet. I can't pinpoint either aloe or kiwifruit but I like it. It's quite strong in the bottle but once you rub it in, it's not too noticeable.

Less is best with this. If you use too much, it doesn't rub in well at all. It just kind of leaves white streaks everywhere so you have to spend a while rubbing it all in. Once it is rubbed in though, I don't feel sticky at all and can get dressed straight away.

I have dry skin and thought this may not be moisturising enough as I tend to prefer thicker products but I don't get any dryness at all.

Overall, I think you get your moneys worth with this product. I'm not 100% sure yet if I'll re-purchase yet. I feel like I would be more inclined to buy it if it was in a 250ml bottle. I get over using products quickly so I like to change things up a lot. 500mls takes a long time to use up!

It Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Palette Volume 1 Review
1 members found this review useful
This doesn't inspire me

I purchased this palette last year from Beautylish. I am an eyeshadow junkie and to be more specific, I love matte shadows. When I first heard about this palette a couple of years ago, I was dying to try it. A fully matte palette is pretty unique but as I couldn't seem to find anywhere that stocked this brand and shipped directly to NZ, I feared it would never be mine. When I found out Beautylish stocked this, it was the first thing I purchased.

This is packaged really beautifully. It has a pink, soft suede material covering the outer and the branding is all printed in gold. Unfortunately mine has gotten a bit grubby looking but I haven't tried to clean it yet so I'm not sure how well it will fare from that.

When you open this palette, which is securely magnetised by the way, you will see all the beautiful shadows plus a mirror encased in gold.

At first glance this seems to have every matte shadow you would ever need. It also has one handy shadow called a transforming pearl shade. This is a off white, colour that has a nice sheen to it. This colour makes a pretty lid shade or supposedly makes the matte shades not matte. I didn't really find it worked too great in that way. The shadows are mostly warm shades but there are a few cool shades too.

The lighter shadows are not as pigmented as I was hoping for. You have to build them up a bit and even then the intensity isn't there. They are also quite powdery but they do blend really well. They can almost blend to nothing as well if you go a bit overboard with blending! I find these last reasonably well on my eyes and I don't get creasing with them.

I originally bought this because I thought it would be a great palette to incorporate with my other palettes that don't have all the matte shades I would like. In reality, I just don't reach for it. I really am just a one palette girl. I don't own single shadows because of this (unless they are in a z palette!), and this palette has sort of become a extra that I don't need. When I have used this palette on it's own, I feel really stuck and bored. I see beautiful colours, but I just don't really want to use those shades in matte form. Out of the 15 shades, I use about 7 of them.

For me, this is a dud palette and I plan on selling it. I think if you are older and only gravitate towards matte shadows then this seems perfect especially with no talc in the shadows and the supposed anti-aging benefits. If you don't mind changing palettes through a look, than you would probably also like this. As I'm downsizing my makeup collection this year, it doesn't bother me too much to not love this and at least it has taught me what I want out of a palette which is not what I originally thought.

The Balm Hot Mama Blush

Beautiful, glowing blush

This beautiful blush also has beautiful packaging. It is just a simple cardboard outer but it has a cute pin up girl on the front. I really love The Balm's modern take on old style glamour that just gives their products a very recognisable look without being over the top. This blush has a strong magnet which keeps is securely closed and also has a small mirror inside. I personally never use mirrors in products but I understand how helpful they can be if you travel or take a product on the go.

When you look at this blush, you are greeted with a shimmery peachy pink. It's the kind of colour that would suit most skin tones and just gives a flattering glow. This actually reminds me a lot of Nars orgasm except I much prefer this as it doesn't have glitter chunks. The shimmer is really fine so doesn't come off as glittery, it just gives you glowing cheeks.

When you swatch this, I find it's very pigmented but with a brush it doesn't go on too strong straight away which I like. I prefer low pigment blushes so you don't get clown cheeks straight away. I also find this blends really easily and doesn't go patchy.

Even though, I've been using this for the last month plus heaps of other times before that, I have no dip in this. I think this blush will last me forever!

I get maybe 7/8 hours wear before I get fading but it still leaves a glow that lasts till I wash it off. Another great thing about the glow is that if you are in a rush, you can skip the highlighter (I still wear highlighter because I like to be seen from space)

I'd definitely recommend this blush to anyone who wants an easy to wear blush. Especially something without chunky glitter.

HOLY GRAIL BLUSH

I have tried a few of The Balm products and have loved what I’ve tried so far so I thought lets try a new blush and this pinky peach colour seemed right up my alley.

This comes in a super cute cardboard type package with a wee mirror on the inside of the top lid – I love The Balms packaging they are always such neat little things.

The colour is a beautiful pinky/salmon/peachy/coraly colour with some definite shimmer hidden in there.

I was really excited when I saw this colour for the first time as it really looked like my perfect colour – I have really fair skin and am generally the lightest shade in absolutely everything so a lot of the time I have to be super light handed with blush or I look like Mimi from Drew Carey 

I applied this with my artiste blush/contour brush - the texture of this blush is really wonderful its soft and buttery and really easy to build if needed and really easy to blend. It’s not super pigmented but at the same time it’s just right. For me bearing in my mind I am very fair a swipe or two is more than enough on my cheeks. It does have a bit of shimmer in it so it’s not something I would like to build up too much or I think I would look far to shiny  .

I absolutely adored this colour this is by far the best blush colour I have ever come across for my fair skin I am in love.. My definite Holy Grail Blush !.

This lasted on me all day which is a huge plus.

I would highly recommend this blush to all my fair skinned friends it’s a game changer
