Is 'Moisture' the Most Important Thing In Skin Care?

You know what I think you can never go wrong with, no matter your skin type?  A moisturising skin care regime.  Why?  A few reasons.

As I'm writing this I can confidently say.  Winter is here.  And no, I'm not living my alternative life in Westeros - I'm talking the real world.  New Zealand is in Winter. And whilst there is something to be said for those rosy (albeit cold) cheeks, winter generally means our skin is going to suffer. The bracing winter air causes our skin to be more dry than usual.

And in Summer?  Well you gotta keep that moisture locked in for fresh, glowing summer skin.  You don't want to look like you've spent forty days in the desert.

And here's the thing - even if you don't think your skin is particularly dry right now, nature is against you.  You see a common factor of ageing skin is in fact, dryness.  As we age our skin thins, collagen production lessons and we lose oil glands.  All of these factors contribute to increasingly dry skin.  Add to that the fact that dead skin cells do not shed as quickly and the turnover of new skin cells decreases slightly and you can see why including moisturising ingredients in your skin care routine becomes more and more important.

Well.  Do we have a power house trial opportunity coming up.  We're looking for some of our Expert Reviewers to put THREE products by the ever-fabulous Linden Leaves to the test.  Each member of this trial team will review the:

Miraculous Facial Oil

An antioxidant-rich treatment oil to help repair and regenerate skin cells. This natural oil is enhanced with natural ingredients such as rose hip to soften and treat the skin whilst reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. High in antioxidants, this hydrating facial oil provides an instant boost to skin and delivers a radiant glow.

Essential Facial Moisturiser

A light moisturising cream rich in carotenoids and allantoin to help treat blemishes and enhance the skin’s recovery cycle. This moisturiser aims to improve skin elasticity by maintaining moisture levels and balancing skin to restore a youthful appearance.

Regenerating Night Cream

A restorative night cream enriched with powerful natural ingredients to aid overnight skin repair and slow the visible signs of ageing. With the antioxidant properties of certified organic white tea and vitamin rich goji berry, this night cream leaves skin looking hydrated and glowing. Special ingredients such as echium, meadowfoam, mulberry and sweet almond oil work to deeply nourish and firm the skin in a gentle formulation.

So - tell us, is 'moisturising' the thing you look for most when choosing skin care products?  Are you noticing Winter playing havoc on your skin, or maybe even your skin getting more dry as you age?

Dry. Dry and sensitive. I haven't had to wait for age to make me dry; I remember in college my cheeks getting so dry that they they ended up just being giant sores on my face. Luckily, I haven't had any huge problems like that again, but hydration is definitely a biggy for me. If not careful the skin on my cheekbones and above the corners of my brows dries and cracks.

I would love to be part of this trial team to see whether the products (especially the night cream!) made a difference to my poor, winter wind-stripped skin.

Yes please BR. I've been moisturising since the age of 12 I think. I believe that having a good skin care routine is extremely important if we want to look after our skin. I try to install this into my daughters as well. I haven't trues this brand of skincare before. It sounds dgreat!

Winter has definately hit my skin. It's dry especially on my nose area. I'd love to be on this trial.

I am at an age where skin repair is the most urgent to slow aging and look for products that may assist in that area. Linden leaves are meant to have really good products so I would be super excited to be chosen for this trial. My skin is naturally dry and of course aging does not help.

Ever since I started studying in an airconditioned building I have noticed how thirsty I get all day and that has got to effect my skin too, right? My skin is oily but I do still choose to moisturise daily and use eye cream because I know deep down that moisture is the most important thing that I can do for my skin. I'm interested to see what the facial oil is like because I've never used an oil before, only creams.

Ugh yes I suffer dry skin! Winter definately has wrecked havoc on it. These products sound fab. I have never used this brand before. I could do with some moisture so yes please!

I have oily skin but in winter my skin goes very dry and it's moisture is important to me. Though in summer my skin gets too oily. I need to find something that will balance my skin to keep it hydrated but not oily or dry

I can't say moisture is at the top of the list, although hydration is one of the key things I look for. I was really lucky to score a bottle of the oil in the first BR vault I participated in back in 2013. And I remember this oil being really thick and greasy, granted at the time I was new to facial oils but since I had the impression due to bloggers that said the results would be ahmazing and miraculous, I was extremely underwhelmed by this oil that didn't absorb well and made my skin all greasy despite me waiting till winter the following year to open the bottle and use it. And I did use it when my skin was at its driest. I haven't tried the moisturizer and night cream yet so maybe those are amazing. But I think this trial would be better suited to really dry and mature skin or someone who really likes thicker, heavier skincare.

I know what you mean about winter - the wind and cold are taking a toll!

I definitely think air conditioning (especially in a big office building where you can't open any windows to get fresh air) has an affect on the dryness of skin.
