L'Oréal Paris ELVIVE Smooth Intense Shampoo Review

This is a pretty nice shampoo. It smells good, only a tiny bit is needed (so its good value for money) and it leaves hair shiny, soft and silky. The only thing is that it didn't really do anything for frizz in my case, either alone or with the shampoo. I have straight-wavy hair, and after washing (as my hair air dries) I tend to get little wispy/frizzy bits in my hair. Maybe I hoped for too much, but I hoped that this shampoo (used with the conditioner) would prevent this. It didn't do anything in this regard, but as I've said, it was otherwise a good shampoo. My mom tried it out too (without using the conditioner as well), and the shampoo worked wonders in taming frizz in her hair (her hair is very curly) and really did protect against humidity for 48 hrs. So I guess the effect of this shampoo depends on your hair type, and my hair was probably not the type it was designed for.

This is at the top end of supermarket shampoos in my opinion, it smells so good & if you're used to cheaper stuff then this is kinda luxurious without the high price tag. Lovely to use but I wish the bottle was bigger.

Love love love love!!!!!!! I have really dry hair and struggle to fine a shampoo I love that doesn't make my hair feel like straw after it's my go to shampoo and conditioner when a can't afford high end but it doesn't matter I find it works just as well !!!

Not going to lie i'm SUPER picky with my hair products as i have a really sensitive scalp but i loved this shampoo, my hair felt so soft and clean.. its cheap as well so will defiantly be getting it again!

Been using this shampoo & conditioner for around a week and have found it to be so much better than i expected. It smells amazing so good! the packaging isn't anything special but then again its not an expensive product so can't expect much. I have super super dry hair, its very coarse and damaged from heat and bleaching it, after the first wash my hair felt so much softer and felt in better condition after a week overall my hair is in better condition than before i started using this product! 100 % recommend this product to anyone with dry damaged hair thats on a budget , i have tried every hair product under the sun and sometimes you can over $100 on something and it not work for you at all and its such a waste of money, however with this i feel confident in suggesting it to people as for the price its worth the money so go get the shampoo and conditioner girls you really do need both!! :)

I love the smell of this shampoo. Subtle, but still present. I like what it does to my hair, but feel it didn't really deliver on the promise of reducing frizziness. My hair has been soft and smooth, but perhaps I expected more than I should have in terms of the wispy, frizzy parts of my hair. I did however enjoy using it, and will probably use again, or other products from this range as they seem good value for the price and the fact you can get them at the supermarket!

My hair is blonde, thick, and there is a lot of it. I have a mix of curls (always in the wrong place), oily roots and dry ends. The frizz in my hair is stubborn at the best of times living in Windy Wellington, and travelling to a different climate for work like Australia, usually makes it that much worse. The Shampoo had a great smell, and was easy to work in. Instantly using both Shampoo and conditioner my hair felt clean, and controlled. As it mentioned 'heat protection' I blow-dried my hair without any extra product, and it felt great after. Not dry and very silky - dare I say salon like. I wasn't comfortable straightening it without product, although I found my hair held its shape and as it packaging states it gave me 'smooth hair, without weighing it down'. Great product – would recommend!

I love the Elvive range but have to say that this definitely isn't my shampoo of choice.

It's a great shampoo in it's own right, the smell especially is amazing. It just didn't achieve what I needed.

For a smoothing shampoo it didn't do a great job of what it promised which was a disappointment. Other Elvives I've bought have done a much better job and I do recommend them, highly.

I also found the product to be a tad drying which doesn't suit my scalp or bleached hair.

The good news is that Elvive is priced really well and I have been able to experiment and find which ones work best for me. Unfortunately not this one but live and learn.

Really like this shampoo, the smell is nice and the product leaves hair feeling clean after one shampoo without feeling stringy like hair can pre conditioner. My hair is definitely smoother (maybe not 4 times smoother, but smoother) and frizz is definitely improved. I am an argan oil fan and will buy from this range again however probably with freshly coloured hair will purchase the colour protect variety (assuming there is one).

I was so excited to review this shampoo, as well as the conditioner and serum - the packaging is so gorgeous and the promise of sleeker hair is always alluring.

On the whole I've had a great experience - just not with the shampoo. Why? My hair loves it, but my scalp doesn't!

I adore the scent - as it's not too scented and generally I like my perfumes to do the smelling rather than my skincare/haircare. It's a nice consistency, and lathers up well. Since using it I've noticed that the hair at the base of my head hasn't been as frizzy as usual - even on humid days. Unfortunately though my (relatively sensitive) scalp has become sooooo itchy and dry, and wee white dandruffy bits have been falling off after I give it a scratch. It's due to this that I'll have to stop using the shampoo, though I'll continue on with the conditioner and the serum.

Despite my issues, I'd still recommend those with hair like mine (fine, curly/wavy and prone to frizz) give it a go as I have seen a difference.
