L'Oréal Paris ELVIVE Arginine Resist Shampoo Review

A bit of background on myself is that I’ve had significant hair fall over the past 3 or 4 years. As someone who has always had a very thick and full mane, this has not been a not a happy occurrence. So when I got this shampoo in my hands, I wanted to take as much time as possible to trial in the hopes that I would have a positive experience.

First off, the packaging is very appealing. The black, silver and hot pink bottle is a truly sophisticated offering from L'Oréal Paris Elvive and makes for a genuine stand-out on shelf. The scent is really incredibly pleasant and not too heavy or overpowering. I’ve been trialling this shampoo for going on 3 weeks now and wash my hair about 3 times a week. While I have not noticed a significant decrease in hair loss, I will say that the application does not leave my hair overly dry and squeaky. It also makes for very manageable, smooth and silky hair. No shampoos that I have tried recently have left my hair feeling this good.

So while I cannot agree with the claim that it reduces hair fall, I will say that I’ve been having great hair days in the last few weeks. For that reason alone, I’d keep buying the product as a good general use shampoo.

I have been trialing this shampoo and conditioner combo for a week and a half now and I am feeling pretty impressed!

Let us start on the packaging <3 - I love black and pink together! What an eye-catching bottle! However it is rather small (only 250ml) which is difficult for me considering my hair is so long and I use so much shampoo! I'm probably on my last 1/3 now and I only wash my hair once every second day.

As for price, I would also say for the amount of product it is a little pricey for supermarket shampoo. However - if it was on special I would totally repurchase!

As for the things I love... I absolutely LOVE the consistency! There are 2 main things I look for in a shampoo. Consistency and smell. I'll tell you what - this one ticks both boxes! It's a fairly thick consistency and it lathers up reallllllllly well! Like, really well! Which means a little goes a long way. The smell is divine and it lingers in the hair long after you've washed it which I LOVE in a shampoo.

Of course, it does a fab job of washing the hair too and it made my hair feel really nice afterwards.

As for the product claims... it's quite hard for me to determine whether or not it actually does stop your hair from falling out. First of all, I've only been using it for a week and a half so I am unsure if it works that fast? Secondly, my hair is uber long so when it falls out it feels like a lot is coming out because of the length. I haven't noticed a drastic change or anything regarding my hair falling out - it seems pretty normal. However - let's be honest here... do we really buy supermarket shampoos because of what they claim to do? I know I don't and for me, it ticks most of the other important boxes.

I would say if you like a good consistency and a nice smell then this shampoo is for you! However get it while it's on sale as it is pricey for the amount you get!

At first I was a little sceptical about this product. I received both the shampoo and conditioner for the trial from BR. When I wash my hair I have always had enough hair fall out to almost make a wig. My mum always used to joke that it is a wonder that I'm not bald already! Quite possibly the best part about having thick, but straight hair, there's enough to go around. The shampoo smelt pretty good, as the L'Oréal brands do, so that was a bonus. I wash my hair 2-3 times a week depending on how the week goes, so it took a good two weeks before I noticed any results. By the second-third wash I was admittedly a bit disappointed as I was expecting results, however by the fourth wash, BAM! I found close to half the amount of hair that usually came out while washing it was falling! (Even my boyfriend was a bit surprised by the size of my 'hair ball'). Another good point for me was it did not leave my hair feeling greasy and heavy like some nourishing shampoos can do. I would recommend this product, but expect results to take it's time to show. I would recommend this as a decent supermarket branded shampoo.

I have had hair fall problem for the last 3 years so I was super excited to try out this new shampoo! I have used it for about 3 weeks now, and I was my hair 3 times a week, but unfortunately I haven't noticed any visible difference. The shampoo does leave my hair soft and smelling gorgeous, but I still feel like I am losing the same amount of hair when I wash it (same amount of fall out as any other shampoo). I do find that I have less split ends now though so I think this shampoo has a strengthening effect on the ends but not especially effective on the roots.

I received this product free from Beauty Review at the end of July, and have been using it every day since. As a basic supermarket brand shampoo, this product performs well. It has a fruity/floral fragrance, quite strong in the bottle, but fading once applied and rinsed out. The formulation is thick and creamy and it glides through hair smoothly, without catching. It rinses cleanly away and leaves the hear clean. In terms of any 'anti hair fall' properties, I couldn't say I noticed any difference, but I do think that the fact it is a very soft formulation and doesn't tangle the hair, probably means less stress on the hair - less pulling and tugging when washing and combing, so there is that. It does leave the hair a bit fly-away though, which can be annoying. One thing I have to say, the bottle is pretty ugly - like something out of the 80s - Tron (the original) meets Dynasty. Hot pink, black, white and silver with some kind of meaningless box and swirl design. I prefer something a little more subtle. In summary, a decent basic shampoo, better used for it's detangling properties than anything else.

Ive always wanted to try this shampoo, and it has lived up to my expectations! Smells amazing, removes all oil and product build up, and leaves hair feeling refreshed. Im not sure on the claim of preventing hair fall but Ill re-purchase again none the less. Good quality shampoo for the price.

I used the L'Oreal Paris ELVIVE Arginine Resist Shampoo and Conditioner from the day I received it to now and I was VERY surprised. I don't expect much from supermarket hair products. I have quite a lot of hair and so first I was pleasantly surprised that you don't need much in the hand to get a good clean. This means that a relatively small bottle of product lasts quite a good length of time. Also, you get a really good lather from this shampoo especially if used as your supposed to and massaged into roots. After use I found my hair felt really silky and soft and also smelt AMAZING. Smell lasted all day too! After the first few washes I noticed a difference in the amount of hair fall, but still some hair breakage. Now that I have finished the trial I have significantly less hair fall and breakage. I actually have very impressive photos of my hair brush before and after!

I didn't find the shampoo much different from other shampoos I've used but it does have a nice smell & left my hair feeling soft & shiny. Although it says it's supposed to reduce hair fall, when washing my hair there seemed to be the same amount of hair fall but I did notice there wasn't as much hair fall in between washes. I was washing my hair every 2nd day. It is quite an affordable price and I would use it again.

It was great opportunity to trial this product along with the conditioner. Over all it is a good product.one of the best in supermarket. I have used salon shampoo and conditioner by loreal and feel there is not much difference. The packaging is nice.love the color.clear instructions and information, which is standard.did it stop my hair breaking? Maybe.i noticed about 40-50%.it smells nice and does not weigh the hair down or dry it out. My favorite supermarket buy.i only with it was in an upside down bottle like the conditioner.

I have used this shampoo for about 2 weeks. I thought the shampoo smelt really good, although to my partner it smells a bit to 'pretty' haha. It gives a really good clean which I love, which doesnt leave you with the greasy feeling. I often dont wash my hair as much as most shampoo leave you with the unsatisfying touch. I thought the shampoo did still made my hair fall, but not as much compared to the other branded ones, but I cant expect perfection. It's affordable, and durable. I would recommend as a go to house hold use shampoo.
