How do you keep your kisser kissable?

We all use lip balm right?  Most of us probably own more than one.  I recently confessed to having 15 open and 13 unopened lipbalms.  They're every where, my handbag, husband's glovebox, on my desk, in the spice rack, the junk drawer, the nappy bag, and on the bed side table.

There's something instantly comforting about a good lip balm and if you keep up with keeping your lips hydrated and smooth you can pretty much wear any lipstick; and even if you have a lippie-free day, your pout will be close to perfect.

But what happens when lipbalm isn't enough?  Chances are you've suffered dry, flaky or chapped lips - it happens if you've been under the weather, had a heavy night on the town or been out in the extremities.  Even air-conditioning can dry them out.

This is where gentle exfoliation is an effective tool.  When I was growing up, all of the teen mags recommended gently brushing your lips with a toothbrush, which I tried.  Once.  Never again when I was left with lip skin in my toothbrush.  (In my defense it never said to use a different toothbrush to your regular one!)  Nowadays I tend to gently rub my lips with a washcloth in the shower.

I know lip scrubs are really popular and I have one, I just forget to use it most of the time!

So, how about you?  Do you rely on lipbalm to keep your lips smooth or do you use some kind of exfoliation?

I have chronically dry lips - they peel everyday no matter how much I condition them with lip balm. I have just bought the Elf lip scrub online as I think exfoliating my lips will help with my problem. I have also just started using the Nyx lip primer, and I am hoping that will give my lips an extra layer of protection against the elements.

I normally use a lip scrub. I have heaps of lip balms. I start one and I get sick of it and move on to a new one instead of finishing it lol

I too have a lip scrub I keep forgetting to use. Its only when I think my lippy is not staying as smooth as I think it should that I remember - so maybe once a fortnight. Given that I survived many many years with out one & my man still gets me to pucker up, I dont panic. I also have copious lip balms, glosses - on my desk, in my handbag, at home.

I actually use a combo of the both depends on how bad they are. Before applying my matte lippys I use the Jeffree Star sugar lip scrub and then apply a light layer of lipbalm to keep them moisturised. If I am not wearing lipstick then lipbalm it is, especially around home.

I try to use moisturizer as much as I can but should use more

15 open and 13 unopened!? You have quite a collection there :-) I've never owned more than 2-3 at one time. I'm that BR member who will turn the house upside down just to find that lip balm haha. I use the ELF lip exfoliator often because I love matte lipsticks and then go in with my favourite lip condtioner by Blistex.

I find my lips often feel more ready to peel after a lip scrub so I use just pawpaw ointment and lip balms. I'm trying to find a good replacement for my pawpaw ointment though.

I exfoliate my lips with either a dry, soft toothbrush or a washcloth if they're really dry.

I have 100s of lip balms, but no exfoliators. I'm keen to try the Lush one next time I order from them.

I use a lip scrub nightly and before I apply lipstick, especially if it's a lipstain or liquid lipstick. I have a few that I currently use - Elf, Bon Bon and Lush. I must repurchase the Lush one since I'm lazy and prefer to lick it off my lips instead of wipe it off with a tissue.
