Imagine, if you will, sending a stranger to do the groceries. You tell them you need a new shower gel, bubble bath or soap. Chances are they're going to ask you one question - "What smell?" (or scent, fragrance, type, flavour - depending on the person.)
We all know scent is a personal thing - what smells great on one person, might not smell so yummy on another. And what sounds like the best scent ever to you, may have another question your scent-sanity. When we hit the beauty aisle in the supermarket The Husband goes in to sniff test overdrive. He will not buy a personal care product unless he has sniffed it first.
When these amazing Essano Body Washes arrived at BRHQ the crew was divided, between those that absolutely had to sniff-test a product, and those that could go based on the name. Tabby was set on the importance of smelling first. Sure she loves the scent of Jasmine, and she quite likes figs, but was 'adore' the body wash for her?
Me? Yeah, I just go by reading the bottle. I know my pick is Bliss. Coconut, Frangipani and Paw Paw - it's going to be tropical-fruity right? And I'm going to love it!
Like all Essano products these body washes are free from everything you probably want a body wash to be free from. Cruelty, parabens, sulphates, silicones, GMOs and mineral oil among many other things. Another huge benefit to Essano products? They're readily available at your local New World and Countdown, who doesn't love it when you can write a beauty buy off as a grocery?!
There's three beautiful variants to choose from in the Essano Body Wash range:
Calm Manuka Honey Sensitive Body Wash - Active New Zealand Manuka Honey is blended with exotic Australian rainforest botanicals to deliver a soothing, gentle formulation, perfect for even the most sensitive skin.
Bliss Coconut Oil Lightly Moisturising Body Wash - The uplifting fragrance of Coconut, Frangipani and Paw Paw will leave you feeling like you’re on holiday, every day!
Adore Rosehip Oil Repairing Body Wash - Infused with the luxurious scent of Jasmine and Fig, this formulation will leave your skin feeling soft, refreshed and nourished.
So why not tell us - when it comes to scented products how do you pick the scent? Is giving it the sniff test a must or do you go simply on the name? Do you know what scents you like and stick to them? Or do you live life on the edge and opt for something completely unfamiliar to your nose? If given the choice - which Essano Body Wash would you choose?

I go by the name, the description of the ingredients, and what they stand for/what the product promises. I quite like matching an ingredient to something that is also in one of the perfumes I am using at the time too. I find this method works - there's not many scents that I don't like - variety is good, I almost never use the same body wash again since there's just so many options. My flatmate had the Adore scent which I tried and loved, but I think I'd most like to try the Calm - my skin is quite sensitive, especially going into the colder months where I blast it with water that's far too hot.
