Growing up I remember thinking beauty was for the chic, the sophisticated. I was entranced by elegantly shaped packaging and gold script, and by women with impossibly long black lashes and rose-shaped ruby red lips. Well it would seem that the days of old school glam, while definitely not over, are being pushed aside by makeup launches that are, well, childish. In a good way! I'm talking about ranges that will have you thinking 'remember when?'. Recently classic beauty brand Clinique teamed up with Crayola to make the super cute crayon-inspired Chubby Sticks. We went crazy for them! Cute, gorgeous colours and of course being Clinique, a fabulous product! Since then we've seen a whole host of companies bring out ranges inspired by childhood greats. So what's come out or coming out that harks back to the youthful years? Check these out!
Superhero fans, rejoice! Get a load of this collab between Marvel and The Face Shop! Featuring the likes of Spiderman and Ironman, with cosmetics ranging from eyeshadows to lipsticks. It's truly a collab that hits you with a pow!!
On the more cuddly side of things, and also released by The Face Shop in collaboration with Dreamworks, was the Trolls collection! Too. Much. Cuteness!
I have fond memories of watching The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers growing up. I was at that age where I was partly embarassed to admit I watched it, yet couldn't pull myself away. I felt similarly about watching Swans Crossing - I still wonder if Sydney was really a Swan, or was she actually swapped at birth? Anyhoo... While I never owned a Mighty Morphin mask, or had an inclination to even think about putting one on, that's changed with the upcoming release of Power Rangers Gravity Mud by GlamGlow!
GlamGlow aren't just getting on the Power Rangers bandwagon either - they've also released a limited edition Sonic the Hedgehog mask - and it's as blue as the crazy character it was named after. Awesome.
All these fabulous launches - but who's the fairest of them all? My bets are on the Snow White collection to be launched by Besame Cosmetics. Sure, Snow White was well before most of our times but it endures and continues to be a beloved story told to children throughout the ages. I mean look at these pretties...
So vintage. So beatiful. All. The. Wants.
So are you a fan of beauty inspired from the things we watched or played with growing up? What's your favourite collaboration? Or do you prefer to keep things classic and stick to the more sophisticated side of beauty? Get chatting!
So much cute packaging... i'd be terrified of wrecking it by opening it/using it... safer for me to just get generic non-cutesie products I think.
