What's Kim K and the Crew Got In Common?

I never thought I'd have anything in common with Kim K-W. Not in a million years. She lives the life you read about in Danielle Steel-type novels. Money, fame, drama, love, heartbreak, more love... I have a life that you'd just not really be bothered reading about (I mean, mum/wife/work really doesn't exactly send thrills down your spine). She has an empire that's growing by the month. I have... um... the nearly complete collection of Buffy on VHS with the picture running across the spine of the videotapes. Kim also has a team of people whose job it is to ensure she looks her best, I rely on myself to make my face not terrifying to small children and on my husband to help me when I have a sartorial nightmare (the man has style).

But now? Well I think Kim and I could be besties... okay, probably not... but she's just got a whole lot more relatable, because she let slip in this article what the first beauty product she ever bought was - and I thought, SAME!!! Well kind of same. That lip product?

Bonne Bell lip gloss in the shade 'Cappuccino'. (I can only assume it's the lip gloss pictured above as it's the only Bonne Bell lip gloss image I could find with that particular name.)

Okay, I didn't buy the coffee named flavour and I was no way mature enough to buy gloss, or even know what gloss was. What I bought was the Bonne Bell lip balm in Strawberry. And didn't I feel a bit special slipping on that lip balm every five seconds, feeling like a bit of a grown up. Yes. Yes I did.

So I had to wonder... what was the first beauty product the rest of the crew bought? Well, it turns out I'm not the only one who has something in common with Mrs West.

Merilyn's first beauty purchase? Well it wasn't the Bonne Bell Lip Smacker - that was her second beauty purchase. Her first was Bonne Belle Ten-0-Six, which she describes as just about burning her face off. Sounds pleasant.

Nat broke Bonne Bell ranks with her first purchase... Hers was the 17 lipstick in Frosted Mulberry. She still misses it.

Amelia was all about The Body Shop's little pots of lip balm, with her first being in the strawberry flavour. I remember buying one of those too... and I felt next level fabulous. There's just something super grown up about going into town to a dedicated beauty store to buy a fancy pot of balm...

And Tabby... well turns out she was a Bonne Bell Lip Smacker girl too. Yes, in strawberry.

(Don't you love how when you're in your youth strawberry seems to be the go for lip balms? I wonder if it's because it's red and that screams glamorous?)

So do tell... what was your first beauty purchase? Were you on the Bonne Bell train? Did something else capture your attention? And does knowing that Kim Kardashian was just like us at one point in her life make her more relatable for you like she does for me? Chat away...

I love Kim K.W, she showed how much she's like us when she got robbed in Paris. She said that all she could think of was her kids. Like any of us mothers her first thought are her baby's. Then she stops wearing her jewellery and starts to spend more time at home. This is when I saw a real women and she could be my friend. I would love to be able to have a make up kit like hers would be out of this world. I mean imagine waking up and having a team to make you beautiful. Oh the dreams I'd have of thus are amazing. My daughter has bought Kylie Jenner lip kits they are great and lasts through food and drinks, you have to. Use soap too get. It off. Either way to have stuff Luke make up as Kim KW dose would. E great.

I remember the first beauty product I reallly wanted was this anti shine powder, came in a little compact with a blue sponge and it was to absorb all the oil, i was about 15 and it was part of the clearsel (spelling) range if i recall...

I remembered lipsmackers were all the rage in year 7 and 8. Pretty over priced

22nd July, 2017

I don't recall my first but those lip smackers seem to have been around for ever. I think I had everything strawberry because when I was younger strawberry shortcake was a favourite.

Oil of Olay was my moisturiser and Revlon lipstick but I don't relate to Kim even if she used more or similar products

I was given a tub of Nivea cream from a boy at school, he wanted to be my boyfriend, tho I have always wondered why he chose face cream? My first actual purchase was a roll on fragrance. I cant recall which one it was but I remember I loved it.

Mine was definitely just a lip smacker. That was amazing stuff.

I can't remember to be honest but it was probably one of those horrible cheap lipglosses from the $2 shop

13th July, 2017

Oh gosh I think mine was thin lizzy!

13th July, 2017

My first beauty purchase was one of those lip gloss towers that had all the little lipglosses you could slide out.

I've never heard of Bonne Bell till now. I can't remember what was my first makeup beauty purchase. But once I got a small monthly allowance I remember buying cheap non-branded makeup in outdoor markets by the fistfuls especially cheap eyeshadows and those cheap polishes that made my eczema flare up. I do remember what my first expensive proper fragrance purchase was, but nothing else. I bought so much I can't remember.

I'm pretty sure it was a black eyeliner to draw attention to my already big eyes :-/

Lip smackers and that roll on body glitter where some of the first make up products I owned. I remember the first foundation I used was a cover girl one that was several shades too dark.

Lip smacked was my first beauty purchase . I had watermelon and loved it .

Nivea cream was my go to as a moisturiser and I remember a Revlon lipstick I loved . Sorry I don't relate to Kim not even if she used every product I like.
