Are You Kidding Me? Old School Meets New School!

Growing up I remember thinking beauty was for the chic, the sophisticated. I was entranced by elegantly shaped packaging and gold script, and by women with impossibly long black lashes and rose-shaped ruby red lips. Well it would seem that the days of old school glam, while definitely not over, are being pushed aside by makeup launches that are, well, childish. In a good way! I'm talking about ranges that will have you thinking 'remember when?'. Recently classic beauty brand Clinique teamed up with Crayola to make the super cute crayon-inspired Chubby Sticks. We went crazy for them! Cute, gorgeous colours and of course being Clinique, a fabulous product! Since then we've seen a whole host of companies bring out ranges inspired by childhood greats. So what's come out or coming out that harks back to the youthful years? Check these out!

Superhero fans, rejoice! Get a load of this collab between Marvel and The Face Shop! Featuring the likes of Spiderman and Ironman, with cosmetics ranging from eyeshadows to lipsticks. It's truly a collab that hits you with a pow!!

On the more cuddly side of things, and also released by The Face Shop in collaboration with Dreamworks, was the Trolls collection! Too. Much. Cuteness!

I have fond memories of watching The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers growing up. I was at that age where I was partly embarassed to admit I watched it, yet couldn't pull myself away. I felt similarly about watching Swans Crossing - I still wonder if Sydney was really a Swan, or was she actually swapped at birth? Anyhoo... While I never owned a Mighty Morphin mask, or had an inclination to even think about putting one on, that's changed with the upcoming release of Power Rangers Gravity Mud by GlamGlow!

glamglow

GlamGlow aren't just getting on the Power Rangers bandwagon either - they've also released a limited edition Sonic the Hedgehog mask - and it's as blue as the crazy character it was named after. Awesome.

Besame Cosmetics

All these fabulous launches - but who's the fairest of them all? My bets are on the Snow White collection to be launched by Besame Cosmetics. Sure, Snow White was well before most of our times but it endures and continues to be a beloved story told to children throughout the ages. I mean look at these pretties...

So vintage. So beatiful. All. The. Wants.

Love cute packaging! The crayola one is cute, although the majority of balm sticks look like that anyway. Tony moly is a korean brand that has lots of cute packaging, From memory they've some disney ones and pikachu collabs.

My son has the biggest boy crush on Sonic! He has since he was little, but he couldnt bring himself to do a sonic mask! I would though

I love the look of vintage make up. Its like a story as you display it in either your bedroom or make up room if your lucky enough to have one. Back in the day company's would really do there products up with labels that were art work. And they were materia to last. So yes vintage make up and perfume bottles look way better.

I love the Snow White products! I don't really think about packaging but if i did, my guess is that i would be more drawn to anything remotely vintage looking.

I am a sucker for packaging and these are all so amazing! I love anything Disney, so that sonw white collab is my fav :)

The lip crayons look cute. Remind me of back in the day looking at certain crayon shades and thinking this would be a great lipstick or eyeshadow color. I like the Glamglow mask because there's something about a blue face mask that's enticing.

I'd like to see the Trolls release a range of Hair products - hair spray, dry shampoo, gel. My Little Pony should release - nearly anything makeup wise - I can see eye shadows, body glitter, highlighters, hair brushes. Jem and The Holograms & the Misfits, could have opposing colour ranges - I can see Jem with pastels & the Misfits with bold colours... I'm thinking the Sally Hansen Colour Therapy ranges could have been these!

I. LOVE. THEM. ALL!!!!!!!!!!

I have some of the Disney collab from The Face Shop. I got a Winnie the Pooh eye shadow palette and also a Mikey Mouse BB Cream compact, both totally adorable. I think they are awesome and would love to get my hands on some of the Snow White items as well as the Rangers and Sonic face masks.

I like them because they look neat. But on my face they still have to have the right effect to be added to my make up collection.

Most of these look really cute, but the Sonic the Hedgehog mask looks much too blue and scary!

28th July, 2017

I really like a few of these! Especially the Marvel and the Snow White ranges. The Trolls products look a bit too cute - like they'd be presents for a young girl.

28th July, 2017

These are all cute! I personally wouldn't purchase any of them but I know ladies who will

28th July, 2017

I like them because they are different they would stand out. I love the show white stuff I think if I went for the superhero stuff my son would have it disappeared just for the packaging and the crayons would be used for drawing with.?

Those are all such good ideas!! Would tie the actual product with subject matter so well. I do like clever marketing even more than just the use of nostalgia.
