Pure luxury

I was so excited to see this in the beauty box as it was something I was curious about and wanted to try. The product smells amazing, and is easy to apply. I dip out about 1/2 a teaspoon with a clean cotton bud, saves worrying about dipping my fingers in each time. And massage it all over my face. My makeup just melts into the product, especially eye makeup with no problems whatsoever. It is easy to wipe the product off with a hot wet flannel. It leaves my skin feeling clean as well as moisturised, it does not have the dry feeling I get with pretty much every other cleanser I have used. This product really is amazing, and I will be repurchasing it. The face cloth is a great wee bonus too!

Trilogy cleansing balm

I was so super excited to find this in my BR beauty box recently as I love Trilogy so much and am always eager to try out any new products that they bring out.

The packaging is really nice, the product comes in a decent sized screw top jar, and you get a white cotton flannel with it. The product is thick and balm-y and smells amazing (mango and coconut oil, yum!).

I scoop about a pea sized amount out with my finger and apply it to damp skin. I find that rubbing all over my face in circular motions works really well for me, and all my makeup just melts off. This leaves my skin feeling hydrated and smooth. Such a winner!

I love this!! Having dry and sensitive skin it can be hard to find a decent makeup remover that doesn't pull and irritate my skin. I found the trilogy balm to be super hydrating and it takes off my makeup very easily. I don't have to rub at my skin for ages when I have a full face of makeup on. It has a nice soothing scent to it and feels great on my skin, I don't need to moisturize after as I find it is already hydrating enough. It's pretty much perfect for my skin.

Great cleansing balm

This is the first cleansing balm I've ever tried and I was excited to see it inside the BR Beauty Box. When this says it melts makeup, it truly does. It is great at removing all of my makeup and even mascara and liquid eyeliner. Not even my cleansing milk or makeup wipes could do the same so this is by far the best makeup remover I've tried.

I followed the instructions on how to use it and it worked well. I do wish the cotton cloth was softer so it was gentler on the skin. However, you could probably use any other cloth that you prefer more.

The balm itself is solid and it melts when you touch it to get the product. I like the packaging of this but I didn't like having to scrape the product off with my fingers every time I used it. A little scraper or spatula-type product would be nice.

I don't use this every day because I think it's more for days when I have a full face of makeup on and not when I only have BB cream which is my every day look for work. It will be a waste of product for me but if you have lots of makeup on, this will be a great remover for you.

I tested this out a few times and used it to remove a full face of makeup including smokey eye, liquid eyeliner and They're Real mascara and it took everything off. I even used a makeup wipe afterwards and it barely had any makeup traces on the wipe so I was quite impressed.

Not for me

I was sent a generous sample size of this balm by my beautiful friend and I was super excited to try it as I had heard good things and always wanted to see what the fuss was surrounding cleansing balms. First off packaging - for a sample this has great packaging, it's sturdy, the lid is secure and you get a decent amount of product. I just wish they would have included the ingredients on the bottom but it's not hard to find them online. But that's as far as the positives go for this product. The scent is the first thing I experienced when I opened the jar, it's awful. Describing it is hard because I can't quite place my finger on what it is but it has a milky fragrance, laced with herbs and light florals. It's not at all pleasant in my opinion and is quite off putting. The balm is quite solid so it's harder to get out of a small pot and it doesn't melt quickly when it touches your warm skin. This is a pro and a con - the stiff consistency works in favour for people who travel and for when it's shipped but it is definitely harder to work into the skin as it does take a few minutes to completely melt. The texture is terrible, once smoothed all over the face, melted and worked in, it just feels down right waxy. The balm is thick and quite viscous whereas I was expecting it to turn into a liquid oily texture - that would have made it much more pleasant to use. The next thing that bothers me is that this does not emulsify and for me that is a huge no-no. I need my cleansing oils/balms to emulsify because it means that every trace of the cleanser is removed, it means that there is no residue and all makeup has been cleaned off. An emulsifying oil/balm cleanser also means that you can go in with your second cleanser much more easily, so I was not impressed with the fact that this is emulsifier free. I am not a fan of having to use a cloth on my face, I think they are too harsh for the skin, so having to use one to remove this balm absolutely sealed the deal for me - I will not continue to use this and I will not recommend it. As for it's overall cleansing ability, it's very average. It takes a lot of work to remove eye makeup and concealer which in my opinion it should do easily. Definitely not a product for me, I will have to try out some other cleansing balms but will make sure it has an emulsifier in it first!

Almost perfect

Yay! for getting this wonderful new product in the September BR Beauty Box! I was so excited by this one product that I had to get using it straight away. I admit I don't wear make up on a daily basis but I do wear it 3-4 days a week roughly. I already have a love of Trilogy products so to give this a fair review I tried to look past the brand name and see the product for what it is.

First the packaging is simple, easy to read and follow instructions, and so much love for the soft organic cotton cleansing cloth. The cleansing balm itself is very solid, you scrape out about a 20c size amount and smear it on your face... I like this once it melts in but I find it kind of tugs at my skin at first. This effectively melts the makeup on my skin and it even gets to work on stubborn waterproof eye makeup. Once melted and massaged around you wipe it of with the cloth and warm water... easy as pie and it takes it all off. It also doesn't irritate my eyes or eye area which some other remover products have done in the past. I then use my regular face wash or scrub to remove any remaining traces I might of missed (not that I have seen a trace left).

The scent is nice too (semi sweet fruity yet rose hip type smell) and my skin is definitely not misbehaving (which it often does).

Downside for me is that I don't like digging around in jars with my fingers so a device or spatula type accessory would have been helpful.

No love hearts in these eyes :(

I too like most of you received this in the September BRBB. I have to say I have never been a fan of anything Trilogy and nor has my skin. This one makes the blacklist as well I am sorry to say.

I do like the packaging. It's simple but elegant. It is in sticking with the Trilogy branding. It comes with an organic basic washcloth to wipe away the balm after use. It really adds no value except to make it appear better value than it is. I could achieve the same with my own flannels. It smells quite floral which is how most of the Trilogy products smell. It's quite rosy smelling which isn't my cuppa tea and vegemite toast. The consistency I would liken to dripping or coconut oil. I found it to be very greasy!

I wish that it had come with a tool to get the product out of the jar. Instead I am forced to used my fingers which leaves them oily and greasy. I have to scrub my hands afterwards just to get the product out from under my fingernails. I take a sufficient amount and rub my fingertips together and smooth over my full face of makeup. I concentrate on heavier areas of makeup like mascara and eyeshadow. I rub in circular motions to spread it evenly while still being kind to my skin.

I use a flannel soaked in warm/hot water and wipe away all the excess balm. It comes off easy enough but it leaves a greasy sheen on my face. Normally I would think that it would be perfect for dry skin but it's quite the opposite! My makeup is mostly removed but my eye makeup is still there and noticeable. It takes me another two-three goes with the balm and abrasive rubbing to get it off.

After using this for a period of time my face broke out in pimples everywhere! I haven't had that much acne on my face since I was a pubescent teenager. The only thing I did differently was to use the Trilogy Cleansing Balm. I can only assume it injected too much oil in to my skin! I wouldn't leave the house unless it were for work after that. I was that embarrassed about my skin.

It claims to remove makeup like no other. I actually prefer liquid oil cleansers and this confirms that I must stick with my liquid oil cleanse rather than this. I am highly disappointed considering the price. i thought this may be the one that would change my mind about Trilogy products but it just seals the deal really. Besides the cute packaging and the idea behind it, I'm not convinced.

I have heard that a lot actually, about breaking out after using this. Too bad because it could have been a wonderful thing.

I broke out with this as well, and my skin tends towards a normal/oily combo these days. It wasn't what I'd hoped for either.

Naturally Brilliant

I was very excited to see that a Trilogy product had been added to the September BB.

This Make-up Be Gone Cleanser comes in a simple round container with a classic Trilogy label. In the box is also an organic cloth which I felt was an added bonus in their promotion of natural products!

It really is a balm, and reminds me of coconut oil. I scoop out a bit at a time and start to rub it into my face. The heat of my skin melts it pretty quickly and allows it to be easily spread. Usually at that point I grab some more and rub my eyes. I love how it removes all of my eye makeup and doesn't irritate my eyes. Normally my eyes are very sensitive to different products but mine have been fine when using this. Plus as a bonus afterwards you can look like Zoro with a mask of rubbed off mascara.

I use a warm flannel to remove and wipe off the balm that is on my face, the black mascara is easily removed at this point without any forced rubbing of my eyes.

I am very happy with this product - if only for its capabilities with removing eye makeup. However I wouldn't use this alone. I finish up my face washing routine with a cleanser and toner just to make sure my skin is very clean.

Tips: Finish with a cleanser and/or toner to ensure your skin is the cleanest it can be as sometimes there can be some balm/small hints of makeup left.

Fabulous cleanser!

I love love loved this cleansing balm!

I came in a flat round tin with a basic small/thin flannel and was a thick hard gel that I used my fingernail to gouge out what I needed. I found only a little of the balm was needed as it melted really quickly with the heat of my skin.

It was easily spread in small circles on the face and did an excellent job removing mascara - especially waterproof mascara - with such utter ease. It dissolved all the remnants into nothing and there was no reason to do a second cleanse to remove the panda eyes like I sometimes need to do with other cleansers. I used a warm flannel to remove the product and my skin felt lovely and clean with no residue. Would definitely buy it again. And thank you for letting me sample it as would not have every tried anything like this normally.

Tips: A little goes a long way as when it is heated on the skin it spreads really well.

Huge fan!!

This does everything and then some! Provided in a generous sized 'pot' only a very small amount of this is required to remove your 'face' at the end of a loooong day :). An amount equivqlent in size to half a small fingernail will suffice and whilst massaging in, your body heat softens it further to oh so gently remove the toughest of makeup easily. Using warm water and a cloth (one is provided), the remnants of the day are removed leaving skin clean and soft - superb. Smells beautiful too! LOVE it and it has encouraged me to be more stringent in my skincare!
