Quick and easy to use

I was really excited when I saw Maybelline Fit Me Shine-Free Stick Foundation existed, because as a mum of two kids putting on makeup tends to get shunted to the bottom of the to-do list, and this was a perfect solution! I've used the Fit Me liquid foundation before in shade 225, but this isn't available in the stick so I went with shade 220 which still seems to work well for my skin tone. The product blends fairly well using either fingers or a brush, and the texture looks and feels good. The coverage is a bit lighter I expected, though you can build up the coverage in layers, but if you have blemishes or dark undereye circles (like me!) you will probably still need concealer. However it lasts fairly well, and if you do need to reapply it's really easy to do so. I would definitely recommend this for anyone who needs a fast, no-fuss foundation.

Good foundation, but not shine free

For the price that you pay for this stick foundation it's really not a bad grab. The texture is really very lovely to apply, creamy and just glides on. You can swipe it easily all over your face & then blend it in. I do see this stick being used quite quickly as there isn't a huge amount in the tube & I need to put on quite a bit, although for the price its not too bad. The only thing I wasn't happy with it the statement that it is 'Shine free skin'. I found that while yes it might go on semi matte at first it very quickly changed & gave me that oily look in the t zone. You would need to put a powder over this & im not really a fan of applying powder over foundation so just a tad disappointed with that *please note that I did not apply with fingers so no oil was added & I tested this with both clean skin or pre primed skin with the same results*

Over all I would recommend this for your every day medium coverage foundation.

Tips: Work out through trail & error what tool to use for blending. I like my brush but it can take off a bit of the product.

Love your review! Very detailed and compact :) Thanks for the heads up about it not really being shine free! I'll be giving this a miss.

Very light coverage

Firstly, I want to say I have the weirdest skin type ever where I am dry on the outer part of my face and oily in my t-zone.

I got this product in 130 buff beige to use as a overall foundation. I have used this foundation everyday since I received it for trial. I had previously tried the becca foundation for contouring and it blew my mind so this foundation had a lot to live up to.

I tried this product firstly applying with my fingers which applied nicely at light to medium coverage and was very blendable. I liked the way it made my face feel it made it feel like I already had a primer on. The second time I applied it I applied straight from the stick and used a brush to buff it in which lead to a lighter coverage than with my hands. The third time applying it I tried to rub the brush on the stick and apply it that way however, it didn't really work. I also tried with a primer (maybelline baby skin) and I actually really liked the finish went on smoothly and looked really nice.

The best way I found to apply the coverage was straight from the stick kind of like camo stripes then blend it with my fingers.

In terms of coverage it is light to medium and isn't really that buildable so this would best suit a girl who is having a good skin day or possibly best for summer.

For the shine-free properties it actually did keep my oil at bay except for the small amounts of oil that came up on my nose. So I do think that this keeps the smallest amount of oil at bay but if you're super oily I doubt whether it actually would work.

I don't find that it settled into my pores as I found the middle part acted like a primer.

What I did not like is that it would stick to my dry patches and would look really funky which I disliked but otherwise I did enjoy it.

Something that I found interesting is that there is only 9g of product which seems like a small amount of product considering most foundations have 30g.

Overall this product is nice for good skin days but doesn't give much coverage. I do like the product and will continue to use it until it's all done.

Re:your part about it only being 9 grams. I have had mine for almost a month now and have used way less product from this stick than I use when using a liquid or other type of foundation x

interesting formula

Firstly, i got this in the lightest shade (110) and i was really pleased with the Maybelline shade range going so low (i am a nc15 for reference) although I will say that the shade was designed for people with a cooler/pink undertone. This is something to bear in mind when purchasing it. With the actual product, my first thought when reading the name was that it would be great for my oily skin as it is a Shine-Free product. I found that when i first applied the product (no primer), it went on smooth and seemed to be more of a satin finish, but after about 10 minutes (with no powder) my face looked very oily and a large part of the product had settled in my pores. The next day i tried the product again, firstly applying primer and then setting the foundation with powder immediately afterwards. The foundation lasted a few hours into the day before getting shiny again and i found it did not settle in my pores as much as before. In terms of coverage the foundation stick is definitely on the low end, you can layer it a bit before it begins to cake but that doesn't achieve much. I would compare the coverage to using only a powder on your face. In terms of recommendation i think this foundation would have been better targeted towards normal skin possibly even dry because it is a relatively ‘slippery’ foundation that just doesn't adhere well to my oily skin. For dryer skinned women this could be a nice alternative to powder as it gives you that little bit of coverage but won’t look cakey on dry skin. Great for someone else, but just didn't fit my needs. Additional note: i found that this did cling to the hair on my face, peach fuzz as well as any hair around my eyebrows.

Tips: Use a good primer and powder with this.

Maybelline Fit Me Shine-Free Stick Foundation

I am very fussy when it comes to foundation. This product did have an amazing coverage and definitely helped with oil control but I still used a powder overtop. The main downside was that I found I went through quite a bit of foundation over the three days that I trialled it. There is not a huge amount of product in the stick and if I were to use it as a permanent foundation I would probably be being it every few weeks. I don't think I will switch over to this product but it was a great chance to trial it and if I had a vast amount of money I would love to keep using it.

Tips: I found it easiest to apply with my fingertips over a brush or sponge as it helps warm the product into your skin, making it easier to blend.

Nothing Out of the ordinary...

So I had the shade Ivory I am fairly pale so I need something light with a yellowish undertone to suit my skin type. As soon as I looked at the product in its cute little tube I was a little apprehensive as it did look rather orange to me.

Ok so upon application, this is so easy to use the little stick glides across your face easily and the consistency is lovely and smooth. I applied mine in a couple of stripes down my cheek and yes I looked like I was going to war.

It appeared very orange on my skin, but actually I was pleasantly surprised by how well it blended into my skin. I always have trouble finding a shade light enough and this was no acception...perhaps one shade lighter and we would of been good to go! It was hardly noticeable with lots of blending with finger tips and a sponge.

It provided medium coverage and did not cling to any dry bits on my skin. You can easily build up coverage with this product but I feel i would look like a manderin if I continued to layer on up - sided with caution on this one ladies.

Lasting ability was great- this is a great everyday foundation as it doesn't cake or look to heavy. I found I didn't have to reapply throughout the day and this would be awesome to have in darker/lighter shades for highlithing and contouring purposes.

I loved that it didn't take up lots of space in my make up bag, this is always a bonus and was actually a nice change to using liquid foundation. I don't think I would re purchase this purely as I think it's over priced, and I have a better foundation which is cheaper and suits my skin better.

But not bad Maybelline- first time trying your foundations and I will continue to use it for day to day use.

Tips: Blend well with fingertips and concentrate the product over your cheek and nose area, rather than causing build up along the jaw line if the colour does not perfectly match your skin tone.

Fantastic

I'm really new to the world of foundations. I had no idea where to start so when I saw this for trial awhile ago, I decided to purchase it.

I've been using it for over a month now and on a daily basis.

The packaging is simple and cute. It's like a huge lipstick which I think is a great as you can easily take it with you anywhere and not worry about it spilling throughout your bag as it's a windup stick foundation.

I have the shade 230 and brought it off Trade Me for only $11 brand new. This shade is perfect for me which i was very happy about. Im not sure if this shade will need to change throughout summer so I'll just have to wait and see.

There is no smell which I also like.

After applying my Garnier BB Cream, I simply draw lines on my cheeks, neck and forehead and blend it in with my foundation brush. It's super simple to use and easy to build up coverage in the areas where I need a little more which is my red cheeks. It leaves me with a matte finish with absolutely no shine on my face.

Another great factor about this product is that it's easy to touch up throughout the day if needed.

I think it's obvious that I'm extremely happy with this product and would definitely recommend it, especially for beginners due to the ease of it.

Tips: It's easy to build coverage with this foundation so just start off with a small amount all over and then build up the areas bit by bit if necessary.

Highly Recommended

I use this foundation every day because it has a beautiful natural coverage, is not shiny or oily and is very easy and quick to apply. I am often short on time in the mornings so it is really useful because I literally just draw it on (putting more in problem areas, if necessary) and then smooth it in with my fingers. You can use a brush but I have found it is just as successful to use my fingers because it is not messy like a liquid foundation. It is also very easy to just chuck it in your handbag or pocket if you want to do any touch ups later on, because you don't have to worry about it leaking or anything.I actually bought it in the palest shade because I wanted to try it as a highlighter, but I ended up using it as a foundation because I liked it so much. Only thing I would say is that it runs out quite quickly - i.e. it is quite small considering the price (in my opinion) - but the whole effect of it being super easy to apply with a natural-looking matte finish is probably worth it!

Super convenient and very blendable

I am usually sceptical when it comes to stick foundations because they can be very dry in the stick, hard to apply and very hard to spread. Not to mention cakey as well. But this one glides on my face effortlessly from the stick, and it is very easily blended with a brush or fingertips. I love the natural matte finish and the medium coverage it can give. Oil control is pretty good for a stick foundation and I don't need to power this down at all!

Tips: Apply a moisturiser with sunscreen before using the foundation because this does not have SPF.
