Love it

Packaging was good coloured in the scent you choose, meaning papaya is orange so tub is that colour. The smell is divine as soon as you open it the lovely tangy smell of papaya hits you and it’s stays in your hair all day. Good size tub and only a tablespoon size goes a long way, I have medium length thick hair and it did the trick. Smooth thick textured and easily washed off hands afterwards. I used it as a conditioner and a leave in product between washes, which it explains clearly how to apply for these. It made my hair feel and look refreshed and I feel over time it will only make it look and feel better. My hubby tried some and commented it made his hair feel great. The fact that is paraben and silicone free is great. I would recommend this product to a friend.

Tips: Use it as more than one product to see even better results

Garnier Fructis Hair Food Papaya

I was excited to try this product as the concept seems really fun and fresh. I tried it in all ways the tub suggested, and while I was pretty sceptical of its multi-use promise, I was pleasantly surprised.

The massive ‘98% natural’ on the lid was one of the first things I noticed. I wasn’t really a fan of that - felt a bit like Garnier was jumping on the ‘natural’ bandwagon for the sake of being on the bandwagon.

I did however find that it was an amazing scent (probably not natural, but very tropical so perfect for these cold Winter days) - reminds me of a Body Shop lipbalm I used to have - maybe the mango flavour. Might be a bit too much of a fruity/sweet mix for some, but I found it just right.

I loved that it was a huge tub, it contains so much product! We don’t have a shelf in the shower though so found it a little tricky to get the product out - was a couple of times where when trying to maneuver the tub and get the lid back on before water got in, the product slipped of my fingers and down the drain. Small price to pay though for the amount you get.

I was really surprised how nice my hair felt after using it post-shower and leaving it in. It felt very weird to do so considering in the days before I’d washed the same product out, but using a small amount didn’t weigh my hair down (just like it promised) or make it feel sticky. It actually did make my hair feel very smooth! I like that it advised on the tub how much to use and where to focus the product (mid length to ends) if you plan to use it as a leave in product, directions can never be too specific!

I wouldn’t bother using it in shower as a hair mask post-conditioner. It wasn’t too rich or as thick as most treatments, so I would save time and just use it as a conditioner (keep it in your hair for a minute or so), and/or post shower.

I love the concept - I would be keen to try the other ‘flavours’ in the range, if only for the scents (I bet the macadamia one smells amazing!). Plus, while RRP is still TBC, I’m sure it’ll be a great price for the huge amount of product you get It wasn’t a life changing product (I don’t know that I can feel it actually repairing my hair), but it’s certainly a nice addition to my hair care routine.

Garnier Hair Food - Papaya

I trialled the Papaya Damage Repair treatment, first impressions were good: a decent sized tub that held a good amount of product and it smelled divine.

You can use this product three ways: as a mask with your conditioner as well, as a conditioner by itself or as a leave in conditioner. I tried all 3 ways and found the one that worked best was as a mask with your existing conditioner.

Firstly the tub: great size but when you have wet slippery hands in the shower it's hard to open and keep hold of due to its size. I have a lovely bruise across the top of my foot as testament to this. I realise the product is probably too thick to be able to be dispensed via a squirter bottle so the tub design could do with some tweaking.

The application: light weight product that distributes well through your hair, but it was as it was being applied to my hair that I started to notice the odd smell.

Washing it out: washes out easily but this stage is where that strong chemical smell kicks in, and I found it very unpleasant. As I had used it as a stand alone treatment the first time I tried it, I could smell the strong odour all day in my long hair - not pleasant even though my hair seemed softer from the treatment.

2nd time applying was with using my conditioner as well, using my conditioner after the product did dampen down the smell and my hair was definitely softer afterwards

3rd time applying was as a leave in conditioner. That's a no from me. Hair was limp and almost oily even though I applied it away from my roots.

On the whole I did notice a softness to my hair after using this product but they could work on the tub design and on the smell/odour that lingers afterwards as it's not pleasant. It's the after-smell that is going to deter me from continuing to use this product.

Tips: If you don't like the strong chemical smell left after washing this product out of your hair, use it before you use your normal conditioner.

Apply a papaya

Another delicious winner from garnier!

I am determined to try the set in this range especially when half price at countdown.. I can't go past picking up a tub for $6ish. So while I was at the mall I picked up a new flavour (don't worry banana your still my number 1).

This is up there with the banana hair food.. I think banana beats it with 5/5 though.. I just can't rave about it's bananalisiousness enough.. but there are differences between the mixes that need to be noted so depending on your hair type go with what suits you the most.

I thought I would try this just because I haven't had a cut in several months so the damage is there.. I've been using some incredible products to mask the damage and this definitely helps masks the damage.

It's slightly thicker formula than the banana I would say. And obviously the scent differs - this being very tropical it does remind me of a scent I have smelled before I will update if I can click to what product it reminds me of.. it's not overly sweet or fake - the thing about these I love is that they actually smell quite real and the ingredients list looks better than a lot of other products on the market also.

I have used these a few different ways.. the ways that worked for me were by using it as a conditioner or a treatment conditioner after a normal shampoo and conditioner treatment. It really smoothed and tamed the mane reducing the need for brushing.

Results were noticeably smoother and sleek hair that smelt amazing. It definitely reduced the feel of the need for a cut on my hair so masks the damage which is great.

I use these a couple of times a week just through the ends of my hair.. I feel like the top is fine and it's the ends that need attention so that's where I dish out the love.

Again I love the packaging and styling of these they look stylish without being over the top cheap or tacky looking and fit in my showers soap dish perfectly. Nothing worse than having a nice shower set up and having some hideous looking product. The white on the packaging with colour to represent the featured fruit is clever and visually appealing I am happy to have this on display. Anything that's a total eyesore ends up in the cupboard and used when needed. So it's displayed loud and proud in my bathroom.

Love at first smell again.

And we have a winner...!

This is the first of the hair food range that I've tried and I love it so much that I'm not sure I'll bother trying the others. I have fine, high porosity curly hair and this product is like the magic all-in-one, holy grail product. It's a great conditioner. It's perfect as a leave-in styler. It's a great mask. It works beautifully to refresh dry hair in between wash days. It really does it all! Oh - and it smells divine too! And it's budget-friendly (I grabbed my pot at the Warehouse for $12). I think that about covers it?! I would not hesitate to purchase again and am currently raving about it to my friends. This product is an honest-to-goodness all-rounder.

Tips: Less is more!

A big tub of Papaya goodness

These hair masks are amazing. The papaya smells so sweet and tropical and the tub is HUGE.

I have coloured/dry hair and the Papaya hair mask really hydrates and puts some shine back into my hair. I love using it as a conditioning treatment after shampooing, and I also put a small amount on my ends after towel drying my hair.

My hair is always left smooth and healthy feeling. It's not a heavy or oily product, so even on my find hair I don't get that oily feeling or look.

I've bought all the 'flavours'. Love them all, but Papaya is definitely the best for my stressed hair!

Tips: Often on sale at Countdown - keep an eye out for the specials and stock up!

Smells devine!

I love the hair food range! I have tried the goji and banana which were both amazing so it was time to try papaya. Just the macadamia left to try.

I love the big tub it comes in, so easy to scoop out the right amount of product. This smells amazing! Very tropical, so fruity and sweet and I love getting wafts of it throughout the day. It is so gorgeous and thick and feels luxurious to use.

I use this in place of my conditioner, I like to slather it all over my hair then let it sit as I go about my shower. It washes out easily and leaves my hair tangle free and smelling devine.

Once dry my hair feels super soft and hydrated. I get less frizz and it does not feel weighed down at all. I highly recommend the hair food range, I have not been disappointed by any of them, one more to try then I shall pick my favourite.

Delicious Papaya.

I have long hair so naturally the ends are damaged and since I loved the banana hair food mask in the same range I decided to try repairing Papaya.

The jar is a very descent size of 390mls. It's easy to use by twisting of the lid and scoping  the desired amount out. The formula is the same as the banana, thick & creamy. The Papaya smell amazing very tropical and fruity without being too over powering or artificial. It's seriously delicious and the smell lasts for days on my hair. The hair food can also be used as either a hair mask, conditioner or leave in treatment. I tend to use the Papaya more as a mask then a conditioner and I haven't tried using it as a leave in treatment yet.

While it smells nice it didn't repair my damaged ends or make it feel stronger but it did leave my hair soft and manageable without making it greasy so it is nice to use. I will continue to use the tub up but will stick with the banana in the future.

Super powered

I fell in love with the sound of this product reading through all the reviews. With all the different flavours I ended up buying 3 different ones to try them out.

I have long hair with lightened ends so the length is quite dry. I’ve struggled to find a nourishing conditioner that treats my ends without making my hair dull and lank. I love the versatility of this product - a conditioner, a mask and a leave-in treatment.

This was by far my favourite scented one. It has a fresh, fruity, holiday scent that makes me feel like I'm lying on a beach somewhere.

I tried this product the 3 different way (conditioner, mask and leave-in treatment). After a bit of trial and error, I found the perfect balance. This one is more intensive than the Macadamia one (my favourite), so I only use this as a treatment if my hair has had a particularly tough week. I found if I used it unnecessarily it made my hair dank and oily and just looked like it needed a good wash. This was perfect after a beach holiday to restore moisture and softness to my ends.

Tips: Try the whole range to find the perfect one for you

Absolute bargain

I purchased this after reading all the positive reviews on here. I have damaged hair due to years of bleaching and dyeing it, so this product was ideal for me. The product comes in a ridiculously large tub for only ten dollars, which is super economical. The mask is very thick so a little goes a long way. The smell is amazing, it's a super intense tropical papaya scent. I loved that the scent was strong enough to linger in my hair after a shower. I used this both as a conditioner, and once a week as a hair mask. This washed out easily, and my hair felt so much healthier after using this. My hair was way softer, silkier, managable and healthy. I really noticed how much good this did for my hair, after I used this up and switched to a different hair mask. This is truly a lifesaver option in the supermarket for damaged hair and such a bargain. I will soon be repurchasing this!
