To dupe or not to dupe? that is the question

I bought a beauty blender about a year and a half ago, The day i got it i almost wee'd myself i was so excited, it felt amazingly soft, so squishy, so awesome!

Around the same time i also decided to order a few cheapy dupes off ebay just to see if they were any good. And because i became so addicted to using my beauty blender that i felt i needed spares for when my beauty blender was dirty and needed a wash.

After the arrival of my cheapy dupes, i became torn between which was better. I know most people say there is a huge difference, but in all honesty, to me, there wasnt very much difference, Besides the fact that the beauty blender was softer, they both still did the exact same job.

For those of you who have not invested in a beauty blender yet, i suggest checking out a cheap alternative first, you may find it good enough and save yourself a few pennies, But the true beauty blender is still, in my oppinion, well worth the money.

For application of foundation i would give it a 10/10 Application of Concealer 10/10 Blending of foundation and concealer 10/10 Application of creme blush 8/10 as i find a duo fiber brush better but this still does a reasonably good job.

Hope you find this helpful

Oh you've saved me a penny! The hypre makes me think I want it. But the wallet can't spend that much! So, I might just try a cheaper version until I've saved up. Thanks for your review.

In LOVE

Being a Kabuki brush addict I was skeptical about trying this sponge, especially as it is $35 - $40 in New Zealand but I am so glad I did. I will never apply my foundation with anything else now. I dab or "bounce" the sponge over my face with a small amount of foundation on it and it goes on evenly making my face look airbrushed, no brush lines or uneven application. I have also found since using this product my foundation is lasting me much longer than it did when I was using a brush to apply.

Tips: I like to use mine only slightly damp as its smaller and easier to work with

Not my thing

I didn't like using the beauty blender, I have seen people use it and it has given them a great finish . However for me I defiantly prefer to use brushes

Yep, after all the hype, I thought it would have been great, but it wasn't for me... brushes worked better for me too when I experimented. :(

It's definitely worth it!!

I know gals! It's expensive and definitely makes your wallet scream at you but the beauty blender is like the new brush! It replaces so much. It doesn't leave streaks or unwanted looks it does exactly what you want!

I brought mine online at beauty bliss for $32 mine is pink. It's so smooth on your face. Doesn't soak up your product it doesn't leave streaks as I said before, it just leaves your face looking flawless and beautiful I Love it.

You need to start saving up because your gonna wanna put away all those flat tops and round top brushes and replace them with these.

I think it's like a science project to have made this. It even expands when you wet it. Now that's cool.

It does last a while. Mine last about 3 months maybe more. If you clean it then it should last you a while. I just use the cleanser that it came with. Sometimes when I'm lazy I just use baby shampoo that works also.

Overall it's the best little sponge I've ever seen.

Tips: I recommend to use it damp it works better. Well at least I find it works better.

Worth the Hype.

Like many people, I had heard nothing but rave reviews about the beauty blender. Being highly skeptical, I opted for a less expensive dupe (the Real Techniques sponges), which I promptly fell in love with. As I don't use brushes to apply my foundation (they cause micro exfoliation on my dry skin and make my face look patchy), I decided to bite the bullet and try the beauty blender out.

I got a dual pack of these from Nordstrom as they are much more affordable than purchasing them from here. The first thing that struck me about these, is that they are really small when dry. However, when you wet them they expand to almost double their size when wet, but are slightly smaller than the Real Techniques sponges.

These are very easy to use and feel soft and really 'bouncy' on your skin. I find that when they are wet they do absorb product, but it is fairly minimal. They create a flawless and seamless application to my face, don't create any ugly dry patches and don't diminish the coverage of my foundation.

These are fairly pricey but - for my skin type, they are a must have. In comparison to the Real Techniques sponges, these perform slightly better on my skin in that they don't absorb much product, the finish is slightly better and the sponge feels bouncier - which makes my skin look more natural.

If you have the Real Techniques sponges and are happy with those, then I wouldn't recommend you purchase these just because they are expensive and the difference is rather subtle. However, I will definitely repurchase these over the Real Techniques sponges as I do prefer the subtle differences and I like that these absorb less product. These also feel of a higher quality to the RT sponges.

Tips: Get these from Nordstrom's website as they are much cheaper.

#1 product to date!

Being someone who suffers from desert dry skin, I'm always eager to try anything that claims it will help my foundation appear more flawless.

I jumped straight on the beauty blender wagon, but after using it for the first time I was unexpectedly disappointed. It wasn't applying smoothly, I gave it another couple of attempts, to no avail, so in the drawer it sat for many many weeks.

About 2 months ago I finally pulled it out and tried it again, and I haven't looked back! It works so perfectly for me, the patting motion ensures that I don't disturb any dry patches, and it's super easy to use.

Goodbye bristle marks that you get from using a brush! It's also much more hygienic, I wash it every morning before I use it, as opposed to my old foundation brush that I used to watch once every 1 - 2wks. My skin has been so much clearer since, I'm not 100% sure if this has something to do with it, but I suspect it does.

Lastly, I've used, and washed, the same one daily for the last couple of months and it's still in pristine condition! So yes, it might seem a bit on the pricey side, but if taken care of properly, you'll def get your monies worth! :)

Tips: If you found that you didn't like the beauty blender first time round, go and give it a second chance!

Yeah you can definitely go for cheaper dupes with some products, but not this one in my opinion! :)

I'm all about you pay for what you get. If it means being broke after purchasing something that's the ear Mccoy vs the cheaper imitation. I'd rather be broke. Thanks for your review it makes else to buy the real deal.

My Holy Grail Product

A friend of mine first told me about the Beauty Blender and told me that I absolutely had to get it and I am so glad I did. Although it can seem a little pricey, it will pay for itself in the long run. Seriously my makeup looks flawless when i apply my foundation with it. Absolute magic.

Tips: Buy the actual Beauty Blender not a cheap replica. There is a difference.

My favourite way to apply my foundation

I love this sponge SO, SO much. It applies my foundation flawlessly. You simply squeeze it under water (which is the only reason I marked it down - Super inconvenient) and then bounce the foundation over your face. It helps to pick up any excess product if you're a little heavy handed. I can't fault the sponge in it's application. I bought the Beauty Blender solid cleaner along with it and HIGHLY recommend that as well. When I have to put it under water, I wash it then and there before I use it so I'm only going to the bathroom once.

Tips: Wash the sponge before your makeup application!

Photoshop Anyone?

If you want your skin to look super duper flawless, use this sponge. I find it works well with my liquid and creme foundations and gives the skin the most awesome coverage. It can sheer out thicker, higher coverage foundations (but for me I like that!) so be wary of that.

Tips: I use dishwashing liquid to clean my sponge, make sure you soak it really well and follow with your normal brush cleaner to make sure it's cleaned really well :)

The Original Beautyblender

It took me a long time to want to spend $38 on a sponge I had tried the cheapie ones and thought they're good but I bet the BB isn't any better so I finally took the plunge and my word I never would have thought this little pink sponge would completely change the look of my foundation.

My first thought was wow this is small but once its under the tap it expands to double the dry size. Applying my foundation with the sponge damp pointy end dabbing and the flat end to blend out is the most luxurious feeling ever it is so soft, bouncy and blends my foundation perfectly every time, With the most flawless finish.

I also purchased the blender cleanser solid cleaning bar with the sponge which I use to clean it with every couple of days and it takes it back to new every time. Also before I clean to get the bacteria out I pop the BB in the microwave in a bowl with a little bit of water for a 30 seconds as I learnt from the amazing Tati on Youtube just to keep it fully clean works great.
