e.l.f Eyelid Primer

I dont hate it, but its not really my favourite. BUT for the price $3 on iherb you cant complain and it does stop creasing so thats a plus. On a down note, its quite thin and didnt effect the actual look/out come of my eyeshadow aplication, which is why I brought it. But its good to make the shadow last longer, I do however like the more expensive primers over this but its to be expected as you get what you pay for in most cases.

OK BUT NOT GREAT

I was given this product for a secret santa a while back and have used it quite a lot over a long period of time. The only other eye lid primer I have used was one by benefit which was more like a concealer and primer in one.

One of the things i really liked about this product is the tube and applicator, it makes applying to the eye lid really easy. I also liked the slightly pearly sheen it left on my eye lids.

I was a bit disappointed in the lack of staying power it provided for my eyeshadow. However, it extended the wear longer than I would have gotten without it, but didn't prevent creasing. Maybe I'm being fussy as my last primer did prevent creasing.

It is also slightly thicker and gluggier so it made blending a bit harder, although, if you spread it around with your finger tip to thin it out it seems to be easier.

Overall it's a reasonably good product for the price, and if anything, it provides a really nice pearlescent base for your eyeshadow.

Tips: don't apply too much with the wand, then smooth it across your eye lid with your finger tip. Wait a minute before applying your eyeshadow as it makes blending a lot easier.

Shade: Champagne

I bought this product after the endless comparison with the urban decay eye primer. My first mistake was buying Champagne - which is shimmery colour. It was not very clear that this was the case on the packaging at all. This is okay, it does make my eyeshadows last a bit longer but I don't think this was a standout product at all. The shimmer is annoying for daytime use as well.

Elf eyelid primer

The packaging is the same as a lipgloss a tube with a wand that you have the product on to dab onto each eyelid, the consistency is not think but very sheer,I put a bit on each eyelid then rubbed it in gently, apon applying my eyeshadow I feel the primer made no difference to putting a concealer on your eyelids,I would not go out to buy ,I would rather use a small dab of concealer which also helps eyeshadow stick,

Take it or leave it

I bought this of iHerb rather cheap, so I can't say I was overly disappointed in the product. This product was my introduction to eyelid primers.

It sat nicely under eyeshadow's and I did find my eye makeup didn't smudge quite as easily as it does without it. I am not a huge fan of the wand applicator - don't ask me why, I just found it kind of awkward and always ended up using my fingers to apply it easier.

Despite this, I can't say I would buy it again. Simply because, as this introduce me to eyelid primers, after this product I tried the Jordana equivalent - same price just a thicker, creamier product in a small tub that just seems to work on my skin better.

This is not a bad product, I just prefer another. It is a great product to try for the price.

Tips: For the price, it is definitely worth a go - especially if you haven't used an eyelid primer before.

Very basic. Fine for the price.

This eye primer provides a smooth base for eye makeup. Has some coverage but very little. Will not cover up very apparent veins or discoloured eyelids. You don't get much in the tube, but it is only a few dollars. It definitely needs to be set, does not dry on its own. I like to use this for a more simple look. For more dramatic looks i would use something with better coverage and lasting power.

Poppin' Champagne

So I bought this in Champagne because I pretty much always want some form of shimmer in my look. I really don't know what to think. I feel like maybe I should splurge on a slightly higher quality eyeshadow primer, maybe even a paintpot, because although this primer makes my eyeshadow last a bit longer, it really doesn't do anything to make the colours "pop" and that's equally important to me in an eyeshadow primer. But I will say that it definitely stops my shadow from creasing and it might be my imagination here but I feel like my shadow was applied more smoothly with this underneath it. So I don't know, I don't think it's an amazing primer but I also don't think it's awful either. I've also noticed that it kind of clumps around my lashline.

Hmmm, Feels like it really serves no good purpose

I bought this off iherb great price so i figured why not. Its in a lipgloss like tube with a wand which i liked, I found it was easy to apply and smooth over the eyelid. However I feel it's just an extra product to cake on for no real purpose. My shadow didn't last longer, look bolder, blend smoother or anything. So it was sort of like... WHY??? I had to give it a few goes, clearly to give a good review and I just don't see the point in it to be completely utterly honest, it just takes up space in my routine i could use perfecting something else

Elf

Got this from makeup.co.nz cost was $4. I've never really needed to use primer as I pretty much pack the shadow on so much that by the evening it looks like how I wanted the shadow to look.I did however put a flat matte white over my lids prior to any colours. Recently I've been using the Rovie primer and liked how it made my lids flat. I have a prominent scar on 1 lid which has discolouration and now I realize the purpose primer serves me. Running low on Rovie and having used a sample pack of Urban Decay I purchased this,as my back up.

It has cheap packaging a tube with a wand doe foot applicator great. It is in the light colour and sits on my lids nicely. The formula is a cream type and neautral in colour it's thin in consistency, not sticky just really like a cream, which seems to be different to the prior primers I used. I do notice it flattens out my lids colour and provides a nice base however it doesn't make blending out shadows a breeze it's as if there's nothing on my lids. Previous brands helped with the shadows blending and really emphasized the colour this Elf doesn't do that. Big ups for the base it provides but as for enhancing or providing help with shadow application. It gets a thumbs to the side not totally down but to the side

I reckon for the price it's not surprising what it provides in performance. But all in all I'm happy with the purchase $4 how can you expect amazing quality with that price....? I would buy this if I was tight for money and ran out of primer but it wouldn't be my ultimate choice if primer.

Average

This is my first ever primer of any sort, and I really wanted to invest in an eyelid one since my lids get quite oily throughout the day and need something to keep the eyeshadow at bay.

This product is pretty average. I think it does a decent job at prolonging eyeshadow visibleness, but by the time you get home at night, it will definitely have dulled and faded (but this also could be contributed to my oily lids).

Another downside is the lack of actual formula in the tube. Literally not much inside, so for the normal retail price, I think it's a 50/50 on purchasing. If it's on sale, definitely get one for on the go.

Other than that, you probably might want to skip on this and find a more high quality primer, if it's within your price range.

Tips: let it set on your lids before applying your eyeshadow.
