I went into Farmers in Glenfield and freaked out when I saw the Essence stand. As soon as I saw their lipsticks I had to try a few. I got a few pinky colours and a red colour. Firstly- at around $3 these lipsticks are amazing! They are so creamy and soft to apply and feel really moisturizing. I don't know if it is just NZ but the only comment I would have is to make the colour selection bigger as there are a log of pinks. I would love to see more nudes and purples and oranges. The lipstick is slightly smaller than normal but for $3 I am not complaining!

Reviews
Tips: They do tend to melt a bit faster when left in a hot spot e.g a car, so make sure they are stored away in a cool place but otherwise I love them!
I picked this lipstick up one day while I was looking at the essence stand in Farmers. How could I not really, these are so affordable and I thought it's no big deal if I don't end up liking it.
I think the packaging of these is quite nice. Each lipstick is a different color depending on which shade you have. So super handy if you have a few lipsticks. The lid also clicks securely.
I have this in the shade 53 all about cupcake. It's a beautiful nude pink. I call this the my lips but better lipstick. The formula is nice and creamy, my lips feel really moisturized with it. It doesn't run out over my lip line at all. Sometimes I put on liner, but if I'm in a hurry I won't. The finish is a slight shine.
Unfortunately, the lasting power isn't great. It only lasts a couple of hours on me. I find I have this issue with most lipsticks though unless they are stains or liquid mattes.
This lipstick has a sweet vanilla scent. The doesn't taste like anything and I don't get any gross aftertaste from it.
I'd like to pick up a few more shades at some stage. They have a really big range of colors. I'd recommend these to pretty much anyone.
Great value for money! Do not need to spend a fortune with Essence to get what you want. Love the lipstick, I find that as a Flight Attendant, it's long lasting and keeps my lips hydrated! This product was a great find!
Tips: Reapply after eating and drinking
I am loving this brands quality and affordability! I have the shade coral calling and it is a beautiful pop of colour for days when I am wearing a lot of black. The formula is very creamy with a hint of shine. I don't feel like this lipstick has awesome staying power but at this price I don't mind having to reapply. My tube has the old packaging- a plain black with the coral calling sticker on the base, which is simple and clean. The packaging show would be handy however for quick identification in your handbag. Will definitely be back for more essence lippies- I have my eye on a nude!
I have the Cool Nude and Natural Beauty shade from this range. Both are very creamy and easy to apply. The colour is somewhat opaque and matte. Regular touch ups will keep these looking nice all day. Not quite as good as the Jordana lipstick for the same price, and not as many colours, but certainly worth the experiment if you haven't tried a cheapie lipstick.
Not quite as pigmented as I'd like and defneed d to be reapplied a few times while out. But wide range of colours and think such a good price. Although I'd didn't love the one I got I'll def go back for more based on price and shade variety
Tips: Great price,good range
I have 3 essence lipsticks and they are all very pigmentated. They are very easy to apply and they are very affordable so even if you purchase a colour that don't suit you don't end up losing much as the lipstick is approx 5$. The lasting power isn't amazing so you have reapply often but for the price it's a good deal.
While in Farmers one day I saw an Essence stall and was amazed by the cost of the products, so I decided to pick up a lipstick to try out. While these aren't the best, for the price they are incredible!
I picked the shade Soft Nude, a beautiful nude-mauve shade similar to MAC's Velvet Teddy. These lipsticks have a huge colour range, and there are multiple finishes so there's definitely something for everyone. The packaging is pretty simple but doesn't feel too cheap, although it is just a plastic tube in a similar colour to the lipstick. This makes these easy to find in a big drawer, which could be useful.
This lipstick is super creamy and smooth, and really pigmented too! There is no unpleasant smell or taste either, which is a bonus. To apply, I line my lips with Essence's lip liner and use this on top, and it usually lasts a few hours before I need to touch up. By itself, it would probably wear off quicker.
I'd probably buy these again, for the price they are a good deal but they are just a basic lipstick. There are lots of dupes in their line too, definitely check these out if you're looking for that.
With this I guess you get what you pay for. I picked this up from the Long Lasting range in the shade 21, a rich dark red/brown. The packaging is great as it doesn't look or feel cheap or crappy considering the price. The packaging is a matte black with an essence e carved into the top.
The lipstick is very creamy and moisturising. The colour is a stunning colour and has great moisturisation. Unfortunately this promises to be long-lasting and I find the colour wears within an hour without even eating or drinking. The lipstick is probably too moisturising as it slips off easily and bleeds. Whilst I love the shade and price, this is definitely a case where you get what you pay for. It's not terrible but it doesn't deliver on its promises.
After reading on BR that Essence products were fantastic quality for the price, I couldn't help myself to grab a few things in my local shop that stocks this. I felt like I had won the lottery when I saw this brightly coloured stand chocca full of Essence.
As I saw how highly rated the lipstick was from BR reviews, this was the first product to be picked. A shade I selected was 'oh so matte'. I don't normally go for nude-type colours but this was the last lipstick oh this colour left and I thought hmm, this must be good and an image of Kylie Jenner popped in my mind! But I thought, for six dollars or so, how can I go wrong?
The packaging is simplistic, but sleek. In a black tube with a circular ring around it with the chosen lipstick colour. Although inexpensive, I think the packaging is quite stylish.
My shade 'oh so matte' is a lovely pinky, brown nude. It's surprised me how wearable this colour is, ever since I've got this I've been reaching for it over my usual lippies,
Normally inexpensive lipsticks, like Jordana are way too drying for my lips, and for this reason are not wearable for me. However, this Essence lipstick is so hydrating - I love it!
What I love about this is how moisturising it is for my dry lips. For such s reasonable price it's a fantastic formula that just glides on your lips and makes them feel lovely and moisturised.
Would definitely recommend these and can't wait to add more colours to my collection!
