Pigment is a highly concentrated loose colour powder that contains ingredients to help it adhere to the skin. Create a subtle wash of colour or an intense effect. Does not streak or cake. Easy to blend and long-lasting. Please note Pigments are sold by weight not volume. Containers can appear to be less than full due to settling of the product.

All the good things

I have a mini collection of these, and I'm not going to stop collecting any time soon. The pigmentation is amazing, they're very long-wearing, and I swear they have a colour and/or shade for every skin tone and occasion.

Tips: Always use a primer to give these something to cling to. They'll wear longer if you set with a setting spray like Urband Decay De'Slick/Chill, or Mac Fix+

mac pigment

I got some mac samples online they are very great in terms of pigment but some shades are not as finely milled and so they do not stick as good or go on as smooth as others there are other alternatives and pigments out there that are cheaper but some times it can be confusing as they may just be loose eye shadows not concentrated actual pigments if you shop around though you can get some shades that are just as good as mac and way cheaper. I have found out that mac made the container smaller so you get less product but the price has no changed favorably which is not very fair on its customers I have tan melon and a copper type pigment also deep purple they go on nice and look foiled wet because they are not the glitter deep purple didnt seem as fine milled as the others my suggestion is if you have a big use for pigments and they actually do have a few uses besides eye shadow then pick some staple colours and I suggest you can try and mix them to create secondry colours because mac is expensive. Apart from the pigments I really have not tried mac make up but its popular. I do not really favour because of the price and animal testing. The packaging has changed and got smaller not good and some have stoppers and some do not apparently so if you spill it thats a huge waste. The colour pay off is pretty good. Some can actually streak or cake though if applied wet or without primer

Super vibrant

I love this pigment, it is really vibrant and pigmented. I love the fact that it is a loose powder so that you can control the amount and the way that you can build a whole lot better then if it was something inside of a compact. It tends to be messy though and will end up everywhere; and since it is in that small container I typically transfer it to something larger.

Tips: Transfer to a larger plastic container to cut down on the mess. Tap lightly in order to control how much you putting on and get rid of the excess.

Super intense colors!

These pigments really do what they say they will, the colors are deep and intense. I purchased a few of these and I've found I haven't actually used them much as I normally don't wear a lot of makeup. However, if you like dramatic looks, you will love this product. It can be used wet or dry, and is very buildable. Dry application can get a bit messy due to its powder form and you are bound to get some on your cheeks afterwards so shields are probably a good idea. It is actually quite cheap for how much product you get, it's basically impossible to finish a full sized pot as you only need a tiny amount each time.

Tips: I have tried it with and without a primer and I would definitely suggest using a primer, it lasts waaaaaaaaay longer.

Amazing

I bought one of these in my Mac Youshop haul from America for my birthday. I picked up the pigment blue brown and in a travel size as I had heard a large one takes ages to go through.

First of all the packaging is very sturdy and simple. Clear plastic to reveal the colour of the pigment as well as a screw on black lid that secures very well. It is very small but there is LOADS of product packed in there and a little bit goes a long way.

I love the duo chrome effect this pigment has. It applys super easy and you honestly need the littlest bit! I was amazed at how opaque and pigmented you could get the colour with only the smallest amount. Depending on the look your going for you can apply more or less and it will maintain the duo chrome effect. I was almost expecting the formula to be chunky glitter but it's not. It's more of a shimmer. It's also very easy to get off when you want it to come off.

I would definitely repurchase more of these! I love the quality and the look on the eye, next on my list is copper sparkle. These are my first Mac products ever and I was not disappointed.

Tips: It pays to use a fixing spray on your brush as it can have a lot of fall out if your not careful!

A Little Goes A Long Way

I was lucky enough to score a small amount in Blackened Red, Antique Gold, Golden Lemon, Pearl, Silver, Partylicious, Violet and Push The Edge from a friend who owns the full-size versions. The full-size tubs hold a lot of product when you realise how little you need to get beautiful colour payoff so the 1/4 teaspoon amounts I got have lasted me ages and I still have a reasonable amount left. Antique Gold is by far my favourite, it is a reflect pigment meaning it has a lot of shine almost like a very finely milled glitter and is a darker "aged" looking gold rather than bright yellowy looking. I have found all of the colours to be very versatile working well on their own, over a base colour, with a damp brush or a mixing medium such as MAC Mixing Medium or eyedrops to create an eyeliner.

Intense colour

I've had this used on me for ball. Make up. They are great and you can use them for a large range of techniques but they do take a nut of skill to get right. Personally I'll leave it to the professionals.

Tips: Less is more with this item

Expensive but worth it if you can afford them!

When I was at makeup school I was a struggling student, I didn't have money to buy high end products at the time and I hadn't yet tried any MAC products until I saw someone selling little MAC sample pots on trademe. Back then I wasn't aware of fake products so it didn't pass my mind to be weary of where I purchased them from but they were cheap and I was so interested to try some high end eye shadows. For $6-7 each I got a small container that had MAC loose pigment inside. I had 6 of these and I cant remember at the top of my mind what the shade names were as it was a long time ago so I will try my best to describe them to you.

I had a chocolate brown, an almost blue black, burgundy, copper, a bright turquoise and silver shade.

I was new at using loose powder and the first few times using these I made a big mess, there was a large amount of fallout on my cheeks and all over the counters, once I learnt how to be a little more careful, it made applying these so much easier.

A small amount of pigment was a large dose of colour, I could not believe my eyes with how intense these pigments were and they blended like butter. It was a huge difference compared to what I was used to using. They were long lasting and so bold.

If I could afford to I would purchase the full sizes of these products, the colour pay off and blending capabilities are astounding!

I bought some of those sample pots too! Probably more than ten years ago now, and since destashed. I had a gorgeous emerald and a silvery white. I did later buy a proper one though - a gorgeous gold.

Insane PIGMENTation

MAC pigments are stunning. They are like a loose eyeshadows but with insane pigmentation. I have had several of these, including sample sized Emerald Green (an absolutely stunning shade) and White Gold (super shiny silvery shade, amazing as an inner corner highlight), and a full sized Old Gold (gorgeous true yellow gold) but have sold them all as I never gave them the use they deserved.

You only need a very small amount of these to get good payoff - I don't even put my eyeshadow brush into the pot itself but use the residue remaining on the inside of the lid. This also prevents accidentally getting too much on your brush and looking like you have fallen into a pot of glitter.

They do give some fallout, but this can be reduced by using something like Fix+ on your brush before applying, or using shadow shields or applying the pigment prior to other makeup.

I would have kept them in my collection, but you only need the tiniest amount and I used them so infrequently that I didn't see the need to keep them around. I may yet pick up more samples if I see a colour I must have (hello Melon and Tan...)

Tips: The sized to go pigments are a smaller size, and worth it as finishing one would be near impossible. Holiday collections also often include a set of pigments which all go together and are a great way to try them out.
