Beauty inspiration is everywhere. Whether you're bored with your hair, fancy changing your makeup or have a special occasion coming up, you only have to look around to be inspired.
TV shows, movies, posters, store windows, magazines, album covers, music videos, newspapers, the catwalk, clothing catalogues. Movie stars, singers, newsreaders, the stranger walking down the street. Wherever you look style (to be fair, good and bad) is everywhere.
Now once you've seen a look you like, how do you go about recreating it? Do you sit in front of the mirror for a few hours and play around or do you look for guidance?
The internet is a wonderful tool - you can find how-tos on how to achieve anything, and beauty is no different. If you want to know how to create finger waves you only have to pay a visit to Auntie Google to find countless articles and videos showing you how.
But what medium do you prefer? I've always been a reader, I process information more efficiently if I'm reading it than if I'm being told or shown. I learned to knit from an instructional guide printed in 1939. So my first stop when I'm trying to learn a new beauty technique is one of my favourite blogs. If they prove fruitless I widen my search, all the while ignoring the YouTube results that Google favours to the top of the list. Heck I've been known to trawl online databases of magazines from the 20s to find out how to achieve the look I want.
And yet in the last 6 months I've found myself becoming more aware of Vlogs - and the popularity they hold. From professional makeup artists to ladies that are just really good at makeup, there is more than likely a video on YouTube for any look you could ever want to create.
So where do you look for guidance and how-to advice regarding beauty? Are you a blog reader (or even more old school, maybe you still buy magazines?) or do you prefer the vlog? Why do you like what you like?

I like watching them - gives me a better idea of how to do it.
