The Makeup Look You Need To Try Now!

When the term ‘cut crease’ first hit my radar nearly a year ago now I thought it was some super cool dance move that was setting dance floors on fire. Then on further reflection I thought maybe it was something that concrete pourers do. Then of course, I saw one, and had a starry eyes ‘where are my glasses’ moment, because the cut crease is (well, can be, if it’s done right) a truly beautiful makeup technique for your eyes, which is only becoming more and more popular with makeup addicts worldwide.

So what is the cut crease? Basically, it’s when you take an eyeshadow and cut along the crease of your eyelid (that’s the bit where the top of your eyeball and the bottom of your brow bone kind of meet), in order to emphasise your eyes. Like pretty much the whole of the makeup world, how you rock it is not set in stone. You can either go for a cleaner cut crease with no blending, or you can soften it by blending it out a little, or you can have fun with it by adding colour or glitter. Yes. Glitter. Check out this look from itsciarax:

Now for some further inspiration …

Laura-Leth had the office stopping and staring in awe at this look. Dramatic. Chic. And oh, we really want her plaits.

A solid cut crease with a glitter lid? Is it New Year’s Eve yet? Do we have to wait for New Year’s Eve? A work of art from _killandia_.

This look from sheristewartmua is so super pretty. There’s shimmer but it’s still a look you could rock in the daytime. Love.

I don’t know about you, but I’m going to be practicing my cut crease technique because there’s nothing more awesome than next-level popping of your peepers. Of course, we’re not going to leave you high and dry in the land of ‘now I know what a cut crease is, but how exactly do I do it?’… so be sure to check out the tutorials in our Video area. From soft cut creases to dramatic, cut creases for monolids and hooded eyes, we’ve found fantastic tutorials to help you out.

So there you have it – the divine cut crease. Is this a look you’ll be attempting? Is it a style you like? Have you mastered this technique? Any experiences you care to share? Chat away…

Loving the look, I see many a practice session coming to master doing it on myself

I like the softer cut crease for daywear. I still need to master the solid, crisp cut crease (like the first main image).

I find cut creases to be quite dramatic for every day but I love the way they look!

I love the look laura is rocking and Im always partial to anything with glitter. I did try this before a few times but it never turns out nice. Might give it a go again.

Wow, just wow! I really love this look. First time I've ever heard of this make-up technique before. Might attempt this one day.

I like cut crease eye makeup but I am not expert for that. Mostly on weekends always trying to do cut crease but didn't turn it out good. Sometimes my hands gets soar after long practice....lol.... For cut crease I am in primary stage, I have long way to go. i like black and yellow liner look together.
