Do you regularly use body butter?

When you hear the term 'body butter' you probably think of words like - Rich.  Creamy.  Treat.  Yummy.

There's no denying there is a certain expectation (and excitement) that comes when you bring home a new body butter. Firstly - the smell.  Whether it be a deep cocoa or shea smell, or a fresh and fruity smell, when it comes to a body butter it better smell good enough to eat!  Then comes consistency.  We want it to be thick, creamy and light.  Think the meringue test - if you can hold a body butter upside down and it doesn't fall out the tub the consistency is probably spot on.  And then the most important bit - the results.  Body butters should make us feel like we're cocooned in moisturising goodness.  Our skin should be left intensly hydrated, dry patches should be magically smoothed and we shouldn't be left feeling greasy.

Body butters are generally based with a nut oil and are essentially whipped like, well, whipped cream, to give a rich and intense moisturising product.  You can make them at home from as few as two ingredients.

Butters are best used on the body, as they can be too rich and clog facial pores.  And not only are they good for general body moisturising - they are great as an emergency lip balm or even in lieu of a massage oil.

We're putting the dual purpose Tui Balms Coconut and Aloe Body Butter to the test.  This gorgeous product works equally well as body moisturiser or massage butter. The semi-solid consistency provides ideal friction for massage, eliminates spillage and improves the flow of the massage.

It's the hypoallergenic formula contains olive oil, cerified organic coconut oil and NZ beeswax, aloe vera, shea butter and vitamin E.

Sounds fab right?!  Well we need members to put it to the test - does it sound like the trial team for you?

So let's hear your thoughts on body butters - what do you love about them?  What makes a 'good' butter for you?  What areas do you use them on?  Most of all - do you use them regularly or are they a luxury treat?

I don't moisturise enough an although my skin is typically oily to combo my body is dehydrated & dry in need of intense products to hydrate can this work for my skin I'm thinking it can

Almost always use body butters over body lotions (unless they are very rich body lotions). I find the body butters last longer on the skin and smell stronger. I didn't know Tui made a body butter. I have a lip balm and insect repellant balm from Tui and I love them.

I would love to try this. My skin is so dry this winter and it's probably not helped by my circulation issues. I love using body butter as it seems like more of a treat then a normal moisturizer. I like putting it on after a shower in the evening to try and lock in all the moister. The best type of butters are the thicker ones that you really need to massage into your skin. This sounds awesome since it hypoallergenic and will probably not flair up my psoriasis on my elbows.

I love body butters especially during the winter time in NZ as it just dries out my skin like no one elses! I definitely need all the help I can get to rehydrate my skin :)

I would love to try this Tui body butter to compare it to my regular creams and lotions.

As much as I love body butters I go with regular body lotion <3

I haven't used a body butter before. I have recenlt stepped into the body shop and smelt their amazing butters! Would wonder what the benefits are from using a body butter over just an ordinary lotion

I lurve me a butter! As I've (ahem) developed my maturity, my skin is drier, so a butter ticks all the boxes. A richer consistency than a lotion, a nice smell is also a bonus. Am very interested in this product.

Sometimes I prefer body butters, and sometimes I prefer lotions. For me to love a body butter it needs to have a yummy smell and absorb easily into my skin. Some body butters seem to be so thick that they just leave an oily residue on my skin. This one looks really lovely because of all the natural ingredients in it. I would love to trial it!

I love body butters but get so frustrated with the ones that leave behind a greasy residue. I love body butters that keep my body moisturised, smelling delish and makes me feel warm (is that silly? probably). I'm quite happy with my favourites MOR and Pure Fiji which I use regularly and slather all over my body.

I use body butters all over- the best have lasting fragrance, are non greasy and leave skin plump and soft.

I sometimes use body butter. The Skinfood brand is the best one I've tried so far, and it's really lovely.

I have never used body butter but as I have dry sensitive skin I probably should.I live Tiui products and the Coconut and Aloe Vera sounds perfect.
