So here I am trawling the internet for no reason in particular, 12 tabs open, trying to wind down. And I see the headline; "I'll never buy shampoo again, Baking Soda saved my hair." Yeah, my mind isn't going to shut down anytime soon!
Often on the BR forum members swap recipes for face masks and share home remedies for a variety of beauty issues, from coconut oil for split ends (and about a squillion other things) to Listerine for your feet. To be honest I never thought much of the work involved, I just kind of thought, oh yeah, that'd be handy if I ran out of x, y or z. But to purposefully make what I can grab easily from the supermarket or beauty department? This is a concept that's quite alien to me when I break it down.
You need to buy ingredients, mix ingredients, find something to store the ingredients in. And then there's things like the smell - a lot of home remedies call for things like egg, beer, vinegar. And never have I gravitated to a shampoo with 'eau de egg'.
So beauty DIY-ers, I want to know - is making your own 'beauty products' really quick and easy? Does it work out cheaper, more economical or even easier than grabbing a bottle or tube from the store? And do the results really compare?

I used to do home made masks but decided they weren't cutting the mustard. Do my own sugar and salt scrubs with oils, they don't take long to make up, are definitely cheaper than store bought and very effective. Used to do lots of diy beauty stuff, had books on it. but too lazy and ingredients are usually expensive.
