Do you have Shoepidity?

Shoepidity: The act of wearing ridiculously uncomfortable shoes just because they look good.

Shoes.   A classic case of the beauty frenemy.

They're our friends because they complete our outfits, make us feel fabulous and fulfill the very real need to buy all the shoes.   They're our enemies because, well, they make us shoepid.  We choose style over the health of our feet.

Come on, we've all done it.  Worn winklepickers when you need a wide fit at the best of time.  Lived in cheapie ballet flats without so much as a pop sock on,and refused to throw them out when they stink.  Trampled around in UGGs with no thought for ankle support.  Walked from club to club and danced the night away in heels that made the sole of our feet burn.   Worked standing up in shoes with soles so thin we felt every little jolt from the floor.

But we're women.  We may suffer from shoepidity but we also know how to fix the pitfalls of our poor footwear choices.

We're putting Footcare Solettes to the test - and these could solve many of our footwear problems.  These shock absorbent foam half insoles  have a unique anti bacterial ultra fresh formula that kills odour causing bacteria.  They absorb perspiration, keeping feet dry all day long and prevent slipping and friction.

We think they sound pretty good, but we need you to tell us your thoughts on them - yes, we're putting together a trial team.  So why not tell us if you're shoepid?  Do you buy shoes knowing they're not going to be the most comfortable for your feet?

Shoepid is an excellent word. Yes this is me. I have more pairs than I'd like to admit of shoes that I am too scared to wear in case I break my ankle :/ I've never seen anything like these before - foam latex sounds so comfortable!

I have had so many days of sore feet I cannot count.I have wide feet so struggle ti get shoes that look great but are comfortable. These Solettes sound like they may help and would be good to try.

In all honesty I would LOVE to be able to shop for heels or wedges but alas my feet are size 12 and the best I can do is ballet flats or nana looking sandals :(

Hahaha Shoepid! It reminds me of Ownage pranks, hes a funny guy! These would be great for my mama, she loves to wear heels even if theyre not comfortable, I dont wear heels very often lol

The answer would be yes and no. I am pretty sensible most of the time but then I look at my beautiful shoes that I bought to wear and pull them out. Then I'm stumbling in heels till I get home my feet are crazy at sweating due to circulation problems - they go from freezing to overheating so that doesn't help that I'm not only struggling to walk but my feet are slipping in my heels. I return home take off my heels and wipe them down and air them out and then pack back in the box to forget about for awhile. I can't wait to read the reviews on these.

Great article, one that we all can relate to. I do wear wedges which I find comfortable but if they have a thin sole I am in for a killer day.

Confession time, I have been known to have rather odorous feet. I find Grans remedy works for closed in shoes, but in the summer with more of a strappy shoe, it is a bit difficult to use.

I used to be shoepid - in the name of beauty. My first shoes I purchased myself were 6 inch platforms that were quite narrow. My friend and I each had a pair and we walked in them as if we were on stilts. At that time girls broke their ankles wearing them - very very shoepid. Later I had a pair of the most gorgeous strappy stilettos. They always sank into the grass and it took a great effort to drag my feet back out. They were somewhat menacing to walk in also.

I have made many shoepid mistakes. One time I wore a heel with chains crossing over man did I regret wearing those. My feet were so sore. I have heels sitting in my wardrobe that I wil probably hardly ever see daylight.

Shoepid!! I love it. Do they make these for Jandles ;) I live in them in summer even though I know they are not the best. Damn you, big impossible to buy for feet!

Well Macs, for some reason it always happens when you may or may not have had a little too much to drink and mobility may already be an issue :)

Also have my 80s winklepickers. My mum kept them for years for me as she knew how much I love them. I also remember my great grandma saying "don't wear those winklepickers! You'll end up with feet like mine!"

I went to a wedding in heels and I didnt know it was outdoors. I spent the whole night digging my heels out of the lawn!

I think winklepickers and stilettos are the classiest shoes ever made for women. I had an awesome pair of Andrea Biani flat winklepickers in the 80s. I wore them every chance I got.

That would've sucked Kim - it takes the dignity out of them a bit!

It really did Maree, I have to say before the heels in the lawn incident I thought I had it all together!

Yep size 12. It's a curse I tell you. It all balances out though because I am 6ft tall so it doesn't look like monkey feet :)
