Petroleum, Petrochemical, Paraben free Paw Paw

If you want natural pawpaw ointment then here's the answer.... On first opening the tube I couldn't squeeze anything out, it was so incredibly thick. It also had no smell, I was expecting a lovely tropical pawpaw smell with jelly consistency. I have dry patches on my forehead and chin and they instantly cleared up. After a few days even better, they haven't returned. I tried it on my lips as they're quite dry but I didn't like the feel of it, kind of like a thick barrier coating, it cleared away the chaffing but left my lips with a dry but smooth feeling. I am pregnant so I would likr to try it on my baby as a barrier cream as its natural. If only I could squeeze it out if the tube!! And a lovely paw paw scent would've been nice.. Its also a good price about the same as its more unnatural competitors.

Tips: This is a good natural alternative as I wanted to try the Lucas pawpaw because it was so popular and sounded so good, i was surprised it had petroleum base in it. Even though its pharmaceutical grade petroleum base I will Not put anything unnatural on my skin, petroleum is a petrol derivative from crude oil often known as mineral oil. Avoid unnatural Products like these with hidden ingredients at all costs non matter how deceptive these companies are, do your research, its your body. Would you put car oil on your skin? Even though its pharmacy grade its still unnatural and not safe in the long term no matter what they say

Ok but not great

The packaging is lovely so I had high expectations, especially since I'm a devout follower of the Lucas pawpaw balm. The first thing I noticed was how difficult it was to squeeze the product out. It has a much thicker consistency than the Lucas pawpaw one but a similar colouring. It also doesn't spread as nicely on the lips although it is quite moisturising. One thing I liked over the Lucas one is that it's not as oily so doesn't have that shiny look. Overall, I think I'd stick with my Lucas pawpaw.

Petroleum free Paw Paw!

I was first impressed to see this paw paw was petroleum free, the reason I have avoided paw paw in the past as I've deemed it to be an expensive version of Vaseline.

It comes in a cute little peachy coloured tube, a good size to throw in your handbag. I did find this product to be quite hard to squeeze from the tube. I thought 2 good places to trial this product would be my lips, and a small dry area of skin that had emerged on my face. Unfortunately, it did nothing on my dry skin, even after applying twice daily. It did keep my lips feeling moisturised, but no more than my current $4 lip balm. On that note - I will continue to use the tube I have now, but I dont think I would purchase this again.

Not the best lip product for me

I'm one of those rare people that had never tried any kind of Paw Paw ointment before, so I was unsure what to expect with this product. I had fairly high hopes that this would work wonders on my lips, as Paw Paw ointment is a cult favourite beauty product for many. When the product first arrived I had a difficult time getting it out of the tube, though I put that down to the parcel sitting outside in the freezing Hamilton weather. The positive to it being hard to get out of the tube, is that you're never likely to squeeze out too much product.

This ointment is very thick. On cold days, it can feel grainy when you first put it on your lips but it doesn't take long for it to melt to a smooth consistency. It feels sort of waxy yet oily at the same time. You only need to use a tiny amount at a time. I wasn't a huge fan of how it sat on my lips, as it felt quite heavy. I didn't feel like it was adding any hydration to my lips. It was like I had a barrier on my lips preventing any moisture from leaving, instead of adding moisture.

Since it's winter my lips are drier than usual. After using this product for nearly two weeks my lips are in a good condition. They feel smooth and I haven't had cracked lips. However they don't look as 'plump' as they usually do when I use products like Blistex. I can tell my lips look a little smaller, as my cupid's bow is flatter and not as defined as it usually is. I think my preference is lip products that have ingredients like peppermint/menthol that bring a cool feeling. This Paw Paw ointment doesn't give you any kind of feeling, so I don't think it's the ideal lip product for me.

If you are a fan of the classic Paw Paw ointment, I think you will be a fan of this product. However if you are used to products that give you a cooling sensation like Blistex, then you might not like this as much. I will keep this in my purse and continue to use it, but it won't be the only lip product I use.

Tips: When I dyed my hair, I used this product around my hairline and on my ears to stop the dye from staining my skin. It worked amazingly well!

Natural Paw Paw ointment

I received the Sukin Paw Paw ointment without any packaging (assuming this is how it is purchased from a store). The little tube is a nice colour and it has the Sukin brand name with the wee leaf at the top and easy to see. Most of the writing on the tube is almost impossible to read though, ok my eyes are getting a bit "tired" but I'm sure most people would have issues reading it.

The tube is a good size and it can be thrown in your handbag so nice and handy to take with you. I do have quite dry lips and a patch of dry skin on the top of one of my feet so thought I would use it on those areas. The ointment is very thick and takes a bit of squeezing to get it out of the tube but you only need a little bit. It smells nice and natural, sort of wheaty is how I would describe it and I liked it - no stinky perfumes etc so you know it's nice and natural.

I used the ointment on my lips and foot for over a week and think it has made a little difference but nothing to really write home about. I will keep using it however as I do like it and knowing it's not fully of harsh chemicals etc makes a difference.

I would be happy to use this on my 4 year old daughter also and will try on her at some stage when she needs it for any chaffing etc.

Overall I do like the product, not quite sure if it was totally effective on my dryness however being natural is a huge plus for me so I would probably buy it again and have it in my handbag.

Tips: No tips with this product, really just use when needed :)

Not Bad, Not Amazing

This is a good product, it just didn't WOW me.

I love the pink tube it comes in, it's pretty compact for the amount of product you get and it's designed well so that only a little comes out of the tube at a time (you have a put quite a bit of pressure on the tube to get it out- this is good though cause you don't need much).

The smallest bit is enough for my lips and it does feel really nourishing once it is on. The feeling does stay there for quite some time however once it is worn off (from eating or drinking etc) I haven't noticed my lips feeling particularly different.

I get quite bad eczema on my hands and used it on little patches there too. This was a nice soother in the moment, but again I haven't really noticed any long(er) term results.

It's really nice and moisturizing, and I will continue to use it. Not sure if I would repurchase, would probably be keen to try something similar first.

Tips: Apply a tiny amount at first - a little goes a long way.

Disappointed this time round

Normally I am a huge fan of Sukin products. I have their face washes, creams and lotions galore! So when this came along I naturally jumped at the chance to try it out.

The tube: is a pretty peach colour and fairly sturdy. It's hard to squeeze the product out and initially thought I was staring at another film of product.

The product it's self: Is white and thick. It has a nice texture to it. But that's where my liking of the product stopped. I felt it did nothing to hydrate my lips or calm the sever chapping I had since coming back to the country. (Windy NZ winters!)

I've palmed this off to my partner who is happily using the product (I spent $9.99..i'm cheap it's not going to waste!).

Sukins Ointment

Earlier in the year Best Beauty Boxes had a gamble box. In my gamble box was this Pawpaw ointment. Admittedly I have never used Pawpaw ointment before. I was stoked to give it a try.

Packaging wise I enjoy this peachy coloured tube. The formula reminds me of a firm petroleum jelly. It looks clear. There's a very mild sweet scent that's fruity.

During winter my nose got a hammering from using tissues and is pretty dry. I find this product warms well when massaged in between fingertips. I used this ointment on my dry nose and well as my lips.

After using it for a good month I noticed the hydration on my nose had returned. My lips were nice and soft too.

I'd love to try more Pawpaw ointments to compare to this one. I did enjoy using it. I could see myself repurchasing it in the near future.

Bit of a let down

I was so excited when I made the trial team for this product, I love Lucas Paw Paw and was intrigued to try another brand of paw paw. I loved the packaging it looked sleek and the soft peach colour was really appealing!

I popped it straight into my handbag as I knew that it would come in handy at work especially working in aircon, my skin and lips can get quite dry. I grabbed it the next day and encountered an issue it is sooo hard to get out of the squeeze tube! I was squeezing so hard I was worried it was going to pop open somewhere else and pour out! I managed to get a little bit out and put it onto my lips and it was hard to evenly distribute the product. I instantly did not like it, it felt thick/gloppy and just felt strange.

I decided then it might be better for dry skin then for your lips, I prefer Lucas Paw Paw for lips. I find that using it on skin is much better it protects and soothes without feel greasy or looking shiny compared to Lucas Paw Paw.

Tips: Roll the tube in your hands, or rinse under some warm water to make the product easier to squeeze out.

Sukin Paw Paw Ointment - It was OK!

I went in to this review having never used any Paw Paw ointments, so nothing to make a direct comparison to.

The tube looks pleasant enough, it is bigger than I had imagined so for the price you get a lot of product. Certainly more 'balm' sized than ''lip product' sized.

The first thing I noticed was how hard the product was to squeeze out of the tube, it was very firm and you really have to squeeze hard to coax any out. I put what I thought was a small amount on my index finger and applied to my lips - turned out I had WAY to much. It was extremely thick and really cakey - although not tacky or sticky. It actually felt quite awful so I wiped it off and applied a tiny amount, you really don't need much! The texture was better, I still found it thick and waxy but not tacky which I appreciate. It has no scent and no flavor.

I have trialed the product by applying morning and night. My lips were not hugely chapped but a little dry, I'm not sure I would say it has helped a huge amount but it certainly has not hindered or been unpleasant. The reason I give this product an 'OK' rating is that if I compare to other lip treatments it seems on par, no worse and no better. It didn't wow me but I would happily have it in the cupboard, especially for that price!

What I do think this would be great for is prevention! During summer I spend a lot of time outdoors, I go boating and fishing quite often and get wind chapped lips, I can see this being great to apply before those activities and look forward to doing so!

Tips: Only use the tiniest amount and don't keep it anywhere cool because it is really firm and hard to squeeze out.
