Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion Review

Love love love this eyeshadow primer!

It's incredibly easy to apply, a tiny bit goes a very long way (it may seem pricey, but I've been using mine daily for over a year and it's still over 1/4 full), and I really love that it has a tiny bit of colour to it so that it smooths out any imperfections before putting eyeshadow on (I tend to get awful little bumps and whiteheads on the bottom of my brow bone and my UDPP takes care of the redness from them beautifully!).

I'm naturally pretty oily and use a lot of loose, shimmery eyeshadows and they simply do not BUDGE all day when I use this stuff, plus I get better colour payoff from most shadows when I first apply them as well.

The only other eyeshadow primer I've found that even comes close is by NARS, and I didn't get to trial that for long enough to really compare the two, plus it doesn't have that bit of colour to it, so I can't see myself switching from my trusty UDPP any time soon.

This is easily the BEST eyeshadow primer I have ever used in my entire life. I remember when it was super popular with YouTubers and everyone raved about it, now it seems everyone has forgotten about it and I don't understand why. I started out with a sample of the original and used it up entirely, then went on to buy a palette that came with a travel size of this primer. I can't comment on the packaging of the full size, but mine came in a little purple squeezy tube that has a lid that looks like it belongs on a chess board. Too cute. My sample size lasted me so long, this one definitely will too. You only need the tiniest amount and then I like to set it with a white or skin toned eyeshadow. It's quite thin and doesn't have shimmer in it like some other primers I've used. It really makes my eyeshadows brighter, which was my gripe with the ELF one, and they last so much longer than usual. There's no creasing and minimal to no fading, depending on the quality of the eyeshadows themselves. I've worn my eyeshadow for up to 11 hours with this primer and it looked almost exactly the same as when I had applied it. I will continue to use this primer for a very very long time.

This was my first ever Urban Decay product! I bought a deluxe mini size of this from Mecca. The primer itself is awesome! It works well with any brand of eyeshadow, making it last all day without fading or creasing. I got the anti-aging version which did seem to smooth my eyelids out whilst I was wearing it. What I don't like about it is the sponge tipped applicator. It doesn't pick up enough product which is quite thick. When I put the applicator back in the tube, a small amount is pushed over the neck of the tube, leading to mess as well as waste. I would prefer just a squeezy tube for hygiene's sake as well. I've tried just squeezing the product out but the neck of the tube is large and dispenses too much. I would like to try the coloured primers in the range but I'm put off by the packaging so I probably won't purchase.

This eye primer is amazing! Your eye shadows will last all day and then into the night. The only let down for me is that if you get and primer on your foundation eg. Under your eyes I find it really hard to get off it sort of drys and stays there. I have just learnt to apply it with a small brush and not my finger to get a nice clean application

I bought this in combination with the Naked 3 pallet, and oh my gosh. This is the first time I have owned/used an eyeshadow primer and it is truly amazing.

However, it is really really hard to take off. Even when I think I've done a super good job taking my makeup off when I've been wearing this I've found myself waking up the next morning and find some still in the corners and lash lines of my eyes.

This was my first eyeshadow primer, and I have to say it has sold me. I would not do my make up for nights out without it. It makes my eye makeup stay literally until the next day (when I'm too lazy to remove it). Could probably go out the next night without even fixing anything! The only issue I had with it was that Urban Decay isn't for sale in New Zealand, that I know of. But it's definitely worth the effort of purchasing.

I recieved a tube of the original formula with the Ammo pallete and was a bit wary as I hadn't used eyeshadow primer before and didn't really know what I was doing. I don't know what I was worried about. This stuff is great. It's a bit thinner than concealers that I have but is slightly opaque so that you can tell you have it on before you apply your shadow. It dries quite quickly so pays to not muck around when you're applying it. I use either my fingertips or a brush, I'm not sure which I prefer yet. But its very lightweight, so you don't feel as though you have masses of products on your eyelids, which is good. Once it's dry and you've applied your shadow, it really helps the colours to stand out and stay where they are. I really notice on the days that I forget to use primer in the morning, my eye colours arent as poppy and they tend to wear off a lot quicker than they do when I have it on. Will definitely be repurchasing this.

Urban Decay is a quality brand & I'm finding it hard to sort out the cons.

This primer is appealing it comes in a cute foil type tube with a twist lid although the new version has a doe foot applicator attached to the lid. I didn't get that tube. Contents: A flesh coloured cream silicon type almost like a concealer but thinner.it is opaque & smooths out over the lid but does dry almost instantly so you have only moments to spread over the lid. Effects : This gives a great base being opaque and flesh tone it evens out any discoloration & can be worn just by itself naked on the lid. But once applying shadows to this base it dramatically enhances the shadows pigmentation, I find its like a glue the shadows cling to the primer & I like this effect it gives less fall out & packs a punch for colour show. Also you need to apply evenly as it can cause creasing if you've applied unevenly. Once you've mastered application this performs to your lids favour. Show casing your shadows also helps when blending out the shadows. This keeps the intensity for 12 hours the colour doesn't fade it just stays as bright as when first applied. No slipping of your shadows. In all I can say this is a worthwhile product that does as it says. A hassle that it didn't have a applicator but can't wait to buy the new style of packaging that includes the applicator.

I've been using Mac paint pot for years but had picked up a tube of this recently. Unfortunately it was as good as not priming at all for me, my eyeshadow faded and creased after only a matter of hours. Granted I do have particularly oily lids (which is why I always prime in the first place!) So if that's not an issue for you then this may be fine. For me however I'll be going back to Mac paint pot as this is super effective for me.

I can't really describe this product in any way other than magical. Whenever I want a full face of makeup or want my eyeshadow to pop and last the whole day, I always grab this product. You don't even need much at all which is great because for the price you can't afford to use a huge amount. I would claim this is my HG, but I've only ever tried this and two other brands which I have legitimately since forgotten because of how well UD's Primer Potion outperforms them all. For the meantime, this is definitely HG status, and like so many other reviews below me, when using this under eyeshadow, it will literally last you all day - as if you'd only just applied it. Phenomenal lasting power, creaseless, and lightweight. Like I said.. magical!!
