Pretty packaging

Coming in a pretty but practical honey-yellow bottle with a spray top this toner is intended to be sprayed onto cotton wool for use. It has the same smell as the rest of the range which may be too strong for some people - I found the cleanser overwhelming but this and the moisturiser were ok.

I am not a toner person, either they do nothing or upset my skin. This one is quite refreshing but ultimately was too drying for my skin, even if I only used it once a day. Like all the other products in this range while it says all skin types, if you have dry or sensitive skin it probably isn't for you

Tips: Be aware that this bottle is too big to take in carry on luggage when travelling

Bitter!

A watery toner that comes in a spray bottle, but instructions state to apply with a cotton ball. Alcohol free and does not irritate my skin, but has a strong, perfumey honey scent. Leaves my skin feeling clean and hydrated. Tested around pH 5-6 which is ideal. Despite coming in a spray bottle, I would not recommend spraying it directly on your face, because if it gets on your lips it is horrendously bitter! I don't see the point of this packaging - a simple screw top bottle would be more practical and less wasteful. Might finish the bottle but would not repurchase.

Tips: Don't get it on your lips!

Wild Ferns Manuka Honey Purifying Toner

Package arrived with the face wash, this toner and a moisturiser. The bright yellow colours had my quite exited - until I opened the box and found a pale yellow spray bottle inside that curbed my excitement.

I used this after the face wash - and found that it has a spray top that distributed the liquid just about everywhere rather then on the cotton pad I tried to hit. In the end gave up and just unscrewed the bottle and tipped it over onto the cotton pad.

A faint smell of honey and citrus was noted but not as strong as the face wash and the moisturiser. Went on easily enough once you had the product on the cotton pad. I found it to be pretty refreshing and like it not being sticky (especially in the humid conditions we have been experiencing the last few weeks during summer)

I liked the travel sized bottle which I really good for traveling. I will however keep on unscrewing the bottle rather than spraying it onto the cotton pad - which only leads to a waste of product.

I will probably not buy or recommend this to anyone else - there is less expensive products out there that I prefer.

Tips: Unscrew the top rather then spraying.

A definite dud

I tried using this range with the toner for 2 weeks and then without the toner for 2 weeks, and I found no difference in my skin with the toner vs without.

When I was using the toner, I found it to be a real nuisance to use. It says to use cotton wool to apply it, so I tried using cotton pads at first but something in the formula seemed to completely disintegrate the pads so that as I swiped the product on I'd end up depositing big lumps of cotton all over my face.

I switched to spraying 1.5 spritzes straight into the palm of my hand, rubbing my hands together, and applying directly to my face which seemed to get a good, even coverage. The finish once it's applied is really sticky and tight - it just doesn't feel very nice at all until you apply a moisturiser.

The scent was a bit overpowering, although not as bad as the face wash - if I liked the toner, the scent wouldn't have been enough to put me off and I'm not a big fan of scents near my face. The packaging was nice and felt fairly sturdy, although I wish they'd packaged it more like the face wash which was very lovely looking.

The most annoying feature of the toner, though, was how much of a pain it made moisturising. It seemed to create a barrier on my skin that made moisturisers sink in much, much more slowly. Even with a normal moisturiser that was a bit of a pain, but with their moisturiser which was already fairly sticky and smeary it made it nigh on impossible to smooth into my skin. I had to pat it in instead to make it settle in nicely.

Tips: Don't use cotton pads - it disintegrates them.

Either the cleanser or the toner from this range did leak a bit when travelling, so definitely wrap them in a plastic bag before packing them for a trip!
