Heavy Balm

I purchased this balm as I was looking for an oil cleanse first of all as part of my night time double cleansing routine. This balm has a very strong smell is the first thing I noticed, and is very thick. I found it hard to spread, and had to use quite a bit to have full coverage for face and neck. I don't like the fact that it doesn't emulsify when it comes into contact with water, so you literally have to firmly wipe off with a warm flannel which I feel is incredibly bad for your skin! It does leave a residue which has started to clog my pores on both cheeks, which never normally gets any spots. I will try using again and spend more time melting in my hands before applying to face, and trying to thoroughly remove all traces before moving onto my second cleanse for the evening.

No not for me

I never throw out products because I feel like when I spend my money on it I just don't want to waste it.....I actually threw this one out. I love cleansing balms they work amazing at removing all make up and when I ran out of my favorite balm I went into farmers and found this one I just dont recommend at all leave skin feeling so oily and then have to cleanse another 2 or 3 times just to washboard the balm its just more hassle than its worth its just too thick and doesn't emulsify well at all its what I would think putting margarine all over your face would feel like. Not great

A bit greasy for my skin type

I only tried this once, and was immediately put off by the messiness and greasiness of this product, which I now know is the point. I don't think cleansing balms or oils are for me as I felt so 'icky' using this product! I much prefer micellar waters as my first cleanse as it's a straightforward, non-messy process. Overall, I wouldn't use this product again but I do think it did the job. It did take off my makeup, but I just didn't enjoy the experience, and what's the point of using a product if you don't like how it feels? There's always something else out there! If you like Cleansing Balms/Oils, then I'd recommend this, otherwise try the Garnier Micellar Waters, I love the Rose or the Original!!!

Goodness Break-up Makeup Balm

I recieved this in a best beautybox. I was so eager to try it since it has great reviews.

It comes in a cute tin and has a natural scent which i can't pin point sorry. The consistency looks hard but it's actually soft. The colour is yellow.

Put a small amount onto the palm of your hands and rub together to melt the product (takes a matter of seconds) the rub all over your dry face. Then wash your face with a warm flannel.

I found this product easy to use. Very simple and very effective. I was worried that my skin would be left with an oily residue but it wasn't. My face was 99% clear of makeup. Just a tiny amount of eyeliner left. I am happy with this product and would recommend it.

Tips: Leave product on for a few minutes to allow your skin to soak up all those natural goodies!

My go-to balm

I never would have purchased this product had it not been included in the BBBE Gamble Box. I’m so glad it was because it’s now my go-to balm. Prior to this, I was using the Omorovicza Thermal Cleansing Balm, same thing, but at the higher end of the spectrum.

It comes in a handy tin with the brand’s typical fun twists of lime green colours. The only issue I have with this packaging is I find that the lid is not very secure; I have to put quite a bit of pressure to close it. I hate dipping my fingers into tubs of product so I reuse the Omorovicza spatula to scoop out the yellow product. The balm has a lovely fragrance which reminds me of a light blend of lemon, orange and grapefruit.

I want to make it very clear that I always remove my make up with facial wipes first before going in with the balm; that’s just my preference. What’s the point of using the balm then? For me, it’s purely to remove what I’ve missed with the facial wipes and it really does a fantastic job while leaving my skin feeling supple.

When melting the product in my hands, it feels somewhat gritty but it melts away within seconds. I smooth the product over my skin and it feels AMAZING - just like silky oil - I can seriously just stand there and massage my face for quite some time; it feels that good! Once I’m back to reality I remove the balm with a warm cloth in the shower.

I have tried removing my makeup with just the balm alone and it performs well however I feel that I’m just creating more of a mess that it doesn’t really break through all the layers. This doesn’t mean it’s not good, it just means you either repeat the session or remove the rest with facial wipes or a warm cloth. I’d rather just have a clean face the first time round by removing with facial wipes then going in with the balm. This product is now a staple and for such an affordable price and easy to access I’d be silly not to recommend it.

What a Make-up Break-up

I would like to start by describing what I was wearing on my face when I first tried this - it was a full face of make-up day which included Gel winged liner, several coats of Lancome Hypnose mascara, full coverage stick foundation, powders, bronzers AND a setting srpay. It's safe to say that by the time it came to wash my face this product was going to get a full work out!

How did it go?: I used just over the recommended amount. It is a soild looking balm in the tin, so I dipped my finger in (softer on contact) and dragged it backwards until there was just over a finger nails worth build up.

It recommends that you smooth/melt it between your hands first then apply to a dry face - so off I went. GOSH it felt good, it melted into an oil type consistancy almost right away and it felt amazing on my skin as I moved it around in circles breaking down my foundation and brow pencil. Once I had it applied good and proper I started in on my eyes. I went one at a time, rubbing it into the general area (the eye liner started to rub away instantly) then I massaged my lashes by opening my eyes and gently placing a finger tip either side in a pinching motion and rubbing the lashes between my fingers. Let me tell you I had great big black pander eyes by the time I had done my thing.

Then I took a warm damp face cloth and like MAGIC it all just wiped away - leaving my skin clean, soft and glowing.

Would I recommend it?: HELL YES! If you are like me and hate using traditional cleansers because you have to wet your face first and it drips all over the place OR you dislike having to use an eye make-up remover first and then a face cleanser then this is for you.

A few last points: I really liked how gentle on my eyes this was, I have used similar balms before and I still find a bit of a build up around the eye area afterwards, but not with this. Also Im not a huge fan of the scent...it almost smells like damp cut grass, very earthy.

Tips: Make sure you spend time really working this into your skin, it's not a rub on rub off product, but if you use it correctly your skin will love you for it.

Goodness break up makeup balm

This balm comes in a really cute tin container that is super easy to open, the balm is just the right consistency to use not too firm and not too soft. Using two fingers you get enough to rub over a dry face, using a warm wash cloth all of your make comes off perfectly and you are left with a clean face, I have used a toner after to see if there is any remaining makeup but goodness has removed extremely well. What impressed me was I didn't have that tight dry stripped feeling nor a greasy feeling. It feels very gentle, it's taken away the makeup but not all the moisture. Clean skin and ready for moisturiser (I felt I needed less moisturiser). I have dry skin and using this to remove my days makeup has worked great, I sometimes use a long lasting foundation and it hasn't been a problem the balm has just as a effectively taken this off. But there is more! Eye makeup this balm is so gentle I have used it around my eyes, rubbed it over my eyelashes to remove mascara and loved how all my eye makeup has been removed. This product has ticked all the boxes for me I am a big lover of this balm, and the tin is awesome, travelling it is a great container to put into a bag.

Tips: Once I've rubbed balm over face there is enough balm on my fingers to gently rub over my eyes to remove eye makeup with any negative reaction I.e no stinging or watery eyes.

Good Bye Makeup

While I loved my oil makeup remover, I wanted to try something else, and having tried other Goodness products, when I saw this at my supermarket, it just fell in with my groceries. The tin is a good size, and is easy to open & close, even with product. You only use a little, I tend to use the back of my little finger nail, to get about two fingernails worth out. then it's a case of massage into your face - very easy to use. It has an odd smell, which reminds me of freshly cut grass, but i think it is mostly a dandelion smell. Importantly it removes makeup, even thick stubborn black eyeliner, and it is gentle on my eyes. I soak a facecloth in hot water and use this to wipe off, it's also nice to allow the hot cloth to rest on my face. It makes it feel like a treatment.

Tips: You really do only need a little bit.

This sounds perfect for my day to day make up wear, good tip about the hot cloth. I would really like to give this one a test! Interesting comment about the smell though....
