Get the unscented version!

I picked this up a few years ago when I was taking Roaccutane and was going through the 'peeling like a lizard' stage. I'd been intrigued by this product and its reputation for years. Whenever I had looked at it though I was put off by the fact that it is a very thick balm rather than a cream. I really couldn't imagine rubbing it into my face! But I was keen to give it a go when my Roaccutaned lips were about to fall off! Whilst I did find this healing, it is not the greatest thing to use on lips due to it's distinctive fragrance. I've heard it being described as smelling like furniture polish which is spot on! Unfortunately this fragrance is so strong that I can actually taste it! It does do a good job of soothing very dry skin though so I prefer to use it on dry cracked heels or on cuticles. I still can't imagine using it on my face as the couple of times I did it was not pleasant. It also thickens up even more in the tube after awhile, even though it has a very long shelf life. I can't see myself repurchasing this as I think there are quite similar products without the scent (although you can also buy it unscented) for much less. I don't think this really does anything that your average pawpaw ointment will also do.

Daily essential

This brownish weird smelling balm is my daily staple. I have a pot on the bench and a little tube in my bag ( as well as a tinted lip balm version in the bathroom). It works a treat on dry lips and sore, scraggly cuticles. I use it on cuts, sores and mozzie bites as well. A little goes a long way so a small pot will last for ages.

Tips: It's a handbag essential- you will find it so handy to keep in your bag.

Will always have this around.

My mum used to always have this when I was little, and I used to steal it when my lips got dry. Actually, things haven't changed that much, the new tube I have came from her too! It is brilliant to have for when my lips decide to do their weird get rid of any moisture possible trick. I also find myself reaching for it for the kids itchy bites, grazes etc. It has a really thick formula, so you only need the tiniest amount (so a tube will literally last forever - actually better check the expiry!). It has an interesting scent, I can see it would take a bit of getting used to it, if you didn't grow up with it like I did (lol). It's just a brilliant all-rounder cream to have on hand.

8 hour cream

Mum had used this product for years and would always tell me to use it if my lips were dry, it can be also used for many other skin problems. It does smell a bit funny but it doesn't bother me that much, possibly a signature smell? I have purchased my own, it does go along way as you don't need much product. This is a pricey product but would repurchase. I also have the lipstick version and that js great too.

handbag essential

I absolutely love this product. I first was introduced to eight hour cream when my step mother was using it to treat dry skin on one of our horses. Since then I have been hooked, it's always in my handbag. Great for dry skin, and other skin problems as well as an awesome lip balm.

Tips: Try the lip version lasts for ever in a lip stick styled package

8 Hour Cream

I used a sample of this before I went on the Tongariro crossing a month or so ago and it was amazing! Pouring rain, gale force wind and strong sun and my lips were soft and supple still after our 8 hr adventure! I like that its like an ointment and felt very soothing as well as protective. Only thing I didn't like was that it tasted a bit iffy so I'd reccomend eating and drinking before you put it on :p

HG LIP BALM!

This is my HG! the best best best lip balm!

I use this every night before bed, i honestly cant use anything else.

The smell is one thing that can put people off, at first it was a bit of a shock for something like this to smell so strange, a weird... almost medical smell to it, but i actually don't mind it now For some reason i find the unscented version not as effective

I primarily use it for my lips, but the last cold i had i formed a dry flakey nose and this was amazing for that too.

Ive had a decent sized pot of it (one of the limited edition jars they do every year), i've barely made a dent and its a few years old!

EA 8 hour cream

Awesome product. I use it for lots of things, have had tubes of it for years, a little goes along way. Excellent for lips instead of a balm, not sticky like gloss, even use it over lipstick.

Tips: i rub a little around the cuticles on my nails, good for moustiering and looking good. I have also rubbed a little into any little spots like insect bites and it helps clear them quickly

I steal mums!

It's great for fixing just about any skin condition you could think of but it is rather pricey so as a poor student living on a student budget it is not really that easy to get my hands on!

However in saying that, if you can afford it, buy it!
