Not so jolly jelly

I got this jelly in the Santa’s belly with the Red Fun in the new year sale. It comes in a 100g pottle with lots of zany print on it. When I opened the pottle my first sensation was yum – a gorgeous strong berry smell and a lovely bright red colour.

So, when it comes to actually removing the product from the pottle, hmmm, not to easy. It comes out in a kind of a blob and is difficult to detach some from the whole glob. Once I got some, I found myself kind of throwing it at my skin.

One thing I have come to realise, is that it makes a better bath product than a shower product. Lots of bits of the product stay in a lump, and will just slide down the shower drain, whereas, in the bath they gradually (mostly) dissolve into the water, making the water pink and a little fragrant.

Sadly the strong scent that comes from the pottle doesn’t really translate into strong smelling water or a strong scent on the skin, and I find that a little disappointing. I had just been using the Red Fun prior to this, and it has a very strong scent that lingers on the skin for ages afterwards, and that’s more my style.

Overall, not one of Lush’s better products sadly.

Santa' Belly is not so jolly

I got this from a lovely girl and also in a Lush gift pack. It drew me in because it's so gorgeous being a brigh and xmas like red with old stars sprinkled throughout. Who wouldn't want gold stars in their shower wash?! Yes please!!

Now the thought of an apple smell doesn't exactly get my boat floating. To my surprise it's actually not that bad, nice even. It's fresh and sweet both things that I love. The thought of stars in it gets me excited to but really do they have a point?! In short no they don't but it makes it puuurdy.

It comes in a clear tub with a screw cap lid. It definitely helps keep the product air tight and free from spillage. It is a bit more new and refreshing than their normal black tubs. Although I love the no fuss green image the black tubs portray I just love the clear tubs more sometimes so it doesn't fade in to the background with the rest of the black tubs.

I find it hard to scoop out being a jelly type substance. It tends to fall out of my hand and leaves me with hardly any in my hand. I prefer to put mine in a loofah so it has a chance to spread rather than fall down the drain. The only problem is the stars stuck in the loofah because of this. ANNOYING!

I have to say I do love the smell more once its been applied to my body. The apple becomes more evident. I ended up giving the rest of the tub to my son because he finds it a novelty. It's not really for me because of how difficult it is to use. Besides that my skin has a squeaky feeling afterwards that I dislike. If you want a fun and cute way to clean then this is for you otherwise don't bother.

Tips: use on a cloth to help spread it over your body without losing any down the plughole

I have a little net I put mine in. Makes it lather up instantly as well.

Yeah it's not very appealing for me either. Usually I end up with most of it down the plug because of how hard it is to use.

I agree, the jellies are so difficult to use that it puts me off them altogether.

Smells so good!

I wasn't really sure how to go about using this product. With shower time in full swing; I thought I'd just open my cute little jar of Santa's Belly, dip my fingers in and lather up. But alas; my fingers hit the jelly-ness of Santas belly and I realised I had no idea how to use this product. I decided I must gouge out a chunk and rub it over myself... that did nothing but leave big welts in Santa's Belly. Getting a little angry at my lack of progress; I decided "Stuff this" and tipped the whole thing into my hand and used it like I would a bar of soap. SUCCESS!! I love how yummy it smells and I love the novelty of using it. If I had one complaint, it would be that it doesn't come with specific instructions on how to use it lol.

Tips: Unscrew lid. Pull the edge of Santa's Belly away from the side of container and tip into hand. Wet to form a lather and use as you would a bar of soap. Go about your day smelling like my idea of heaven ;)

I don't think I'm ready for this jelly

I purchased this from lush in one of their little gift packs. I actually thought this was going to be a regular shower gel until I had a look on here to see some reviews on it. I've heard of the jellies before but I've never used any before so the whole concept was very intriguing to me.

I have this in the 100g size container. It's packaged in a clear screw top plastic jar. This has a sticker on it with a made on and best before date and even the person who made it. Another cool thing about this packaging is that if you take back to lush, 5 clean containers, they will give you a free fresh face Mask! I really like that, otherwise I think you could find other ways to re purpose this container. It feels quite sturdy.

This jelly is a very deep red color and it's also a very thick jelly texture. It's definitely thicker than a jelly you eat. The smell is incredible. It says it's scented with vegan red wine, apples and spices. I can't remember the last time I had red wine to smell but this scent is delectable. It's not what I would define as sweet but I'm not really sure how else to describe it. It is definitely unique and I've never smelled anything like this before.

I find the jelly a little awkward to use. Because it's quite thick you kind of have to force a piece off and mush it into a loofah to kind of break it up and turn it into a lather. I find I need to use a lot more than what I expect to. About 2 or 3 times the amount I'd use of shower gel. Once this has bubbled up, I find it's a good rich lather and it cleans my skin without drying it out. I did try to lather this on a normal cloth and it didn't work at all.

The scent leaves my bathroom smelling amazing afterwards for quite a while but I don't really notice a scent left on my skin afterward. In saying that I do use lotion and perfume Too!

Overall, I think this is a cute product and worth trying out. But to copy Beyoncé, I'm just not ready for this at all and will stick to gels in the Future!

Smells amazing, but hard to seperate

I got this as part of a christmas gift (inside a bauble) and was excited to use the jelly - I haven't used it since Lush first released their jellys a while back.

It was all one glob of stuff, I wasn't sure how to use it to be honest. So I ripped a bit off and smushed it into my loofah. It took a while to lather up into bubbles, but once it did, it smelt amazing and left me feeling like a sparkly, delicious smelling christmas bauble!

A loofah is a good idea, as is soozie's idea for a wee net.

Should Be Called Rodolph On Christmas Eve

It was the rich red colour that drew me to Lush's Santa's Belly.

Santa's Belly is a gorgeous red shower jelly with little stars in it which give it a bit of a magical touch.

This shower jelly is also really interesting because it acutally has red wine in it, which you can smell. I think it was a vegan red wine. It also has scents such as apple coming through. Making it smell very christmassy.

To use it is very wobbly, so be careful. I find it particularly good to use on drier patches of skin. I didn't find it that user friendly to use, but if didn't crack and break like some shower jellies I've tried so that was in its favour.

In terms of packaging it is in the typical lush container which can of course be recycled.

Santa's Belly would be in my top 3 favourite shower jellies.

He's got a belly like Jelly

I have a problem and namely that problem is Lush. I saw this on their site and for $14.90 I thought it was a bargain! I also thought that it was a shower gel, so I couldn't understand why it was so cheap. It wasn't until it arrived that I realized it was a jelly (not that I'm complaining), and I cracked into it that day.

The jelly is a gorgeous deep red, and it's really the perfect red for Christmas. Littered throughout is star confetti/glitter and it just feels festive. It comes in a plastic pottle and has a screw top lid, perfect for protecting from the water in the shower.

When I first read the description I assumed it would smell like spicy apples and mulled wine with a hint of spice, and I hate to say it, but the scent is disappointing. It is apples, but they smell like fake apples and cleaning products. I got used to it, and all I do smell now is apples, but not the kind I like. I also can't smell any wine or spices.

I pinch off a bit of jelly with my already gloved hands, and I then break that in half and put it underneath my gloves, because this jelly is a slippery devil and will go down the drain and leave you looking at it like it was a waffle you just dropped on the ground. Without wetting the gloves I use the water that's already on my body to get a really good lather going, and the apple smell takes over. It's quite fresh smelling, and now that I'm used to it it's enjoyable, but again, not really something I go for often.

I don't think I would purchase this again, but I am glad that I went out of my smell comfort zone and tried this. It is a nice shower jelly though, but I prefer much sweeter scents.

I have this coming in a big Lush haul I did, so will be interesting to try them. If I don't like it, my kids will because they love the wobbly jelly and have used all my other ones up so far. I had a gold one that was gross, and the kids used it up.

Wobble wobble

The look of this surely had the inner child in me wanting this wobbly jelly. Yes I know I'm suppose to be an adult but sometimes it's products like this that you just need because they are different (and fun to play with)

This comes in a clear plastic pot with a red sticker on the lid with santa's belly written in the trademark Lush writing we all recognise, it also has the same style sticker on the tub with the ingredient list. You can even rinse this clear tub out and take it back to lush when you have 5 you get s free fresh face mask.... SCORE.

I unscrew the lid and straight away love the striking deep red coloured jelly before my eyes. Scent wise this has me slightly ahhh confused? I love a good hot toddy and this has that same scent as the steam that comes off a freshly poured hot toddy think cinnamon sticks and spices, with a slightly Apple scent too. Throughout the jelly is tiny small stars, particularly on the bottom where they have settled.

This red jelly goes a long way you only need to pinch a small amount off and it is enough to foam up and wash yourself, it's so slippery though I dropped it numerous times. This makes my skin feel so soft once I'm dried and I feel clean. The scent doesn't linger on my skin for very long afterwards but I'm not sure I would want it to hang around. It's a nice jelly but unsure if I would repurchase.

I got the snowman jelly last year and find it so hard to use. It's hard to pinch any off and then use it without dropping. I ended up buying a little net to pop it in which is supposed to be used for making your cleanser foam up.
