The ultimate toothpaste for sensitive teeth

Sensodyne is a staple on our shopping list. Sensitive teeth and gums is something I've had on and off for as long as my can remember, so Sensodyne is always the toothpaste I gravitate towards. My fiancé also has sensitive teeth, and always requests Sensodyne, so it's a household favourite.

Sensodyne seems to be the only toothpaste that really works to remedy sensitive teeth, as after going to other toothpastes my sensitive teeth come back. So, Sensodyne is certainly superior to others!

The packaging is sleek and modern. It is mainly white, with the blue Sensodyne writing over it. It stands out and looks like the ultimate toothpaste, which it is.

The formula is nice and leaves my teeth feeling clean and fresh after brushing. The minty flavour is subtle, but does the job of leaving my breath fresh.

I got this Sensodyne whitening as I thought it would be great to remedy sensitive teeth as well as whiten my starting to discolour teeth (due to my love of coffee). However, I can't say this toothpaste has made much difference to the colour of my teeth. But, that's okay, as it does the main job of remedying my sensitive teeth.

This toothpaste doesn't come cheap, but it is so worth it in my opinion. If you have sensitive teeth, you need Sensodyne in your life.

Total Care

I don't generally have sensitive teeth, every now and then they do experience a little sensitivity but most of the time it isn't something I have to worry about. My partner on the other hand does and so after having him repeatedly buy his Sensodyne (which he swears by and will only use) while I used my whitening toothpaste, I eventually caved into it.

The first thing I noticed was the taste, it wasn't as minty as most toothpastes so you don't get that 'minty fresh' feeling from brushing. You do get used to the taste though. I can't judge it on it's cavity-fighting ability but when using it twice a day I did notice I never had any of the random sensitivity I would sometimes get. In terms of whitening capability I'm a big coffee drinker and love red wine. I didn't notice my teeth looking any whiter but they also didn't appear to be getting worse so there's a bonus.

This is pricier but worth it if you do have sensitive teeth or even if you don't like overly-minted toothpaste, and I would purchase this again.

Sensory experience Total Care

I have used Sensodyne for many years as I have sensitive teeth. I really notice the difference if I run out of this toothpaste. You only need a little paste to make a huge difference. I like the flavour and texture of the paste. I find it takes some of the staining from drinking black coffee off, but not all, but definitely brightens the look of my teeth.

Tips: Do not rinse your mouth with water after brushing, spit out residue, but retain some in mouth. Avoid having any drink for a while.

Sensodyne Total Care Gentle Whitening Toothpaste

I first started using sensodyne as I have very sensitive teeth. Anything too hot, cold or sweet would cause my teeth so much pain. Even other toothpastes would cause pain when I would brush my teeth. That is when I though I would take the plunge and try this tooth paste. It is very expensive and you don't get a lot of it. Being a university student and having to pay about $9 for a smallish bottle was a bit too much. I think I only ever bought 2 tubes because of this reason alone.

Aside from the price, I found that it did help with my teeth. This toothpaste would not cause my teeth pain when brushing and I noticed that cold/hot/sweet foods did not have the same effect on my teeth as they once did before.

The taste and smell of the toothpaste wasn't that great though. I love having a minty fresh breath and this didn't do the job unfortunately. It did however remove the fuzzy feeling from my teeth, I would find myself licking my teeth a lot haha.

Overall, I would probably not buy again unless I was earning more money than I am now. If you are more financially stable then I would say go for it!

Tips: Only use a little bit at a time as you go through it so quickly as it is only a little tube.

Sensitivity Solved!

I've been using Sensodyne toothpaste for many years, ever since a dentist recommended it to me around 25 years ago for sensitive teeth and receding gums. I don't use it all the time, but intermittently with other tooth whitening toothpastes, and general toothpastes. I purchased gentle whitening because along with sensitivity, I have some staining due to drinking a lot of tea.

The product is the same white paste as every other toothpaste, and has a very mild mint flavour.

I find it works very well for reducing sensitivity. My dentist noted (after I’d been using it for some time) that dabbing it on the teeth and gums after brushing rather than actually brushing it on, is more effective, so I tried that and it is more effective – probably as the bulk of it isn’t spat into the sink!

The product claims to protect against sensitivity, fight cavities and plaque, give fluoride protection, gently whiten teeth, help remove stubborn stains, and have a fresh minty flavour. I can’t speak for the fluoride protection, but I can say with much confidence that it meets the other claims pretty well. It can’t be said that the product is a terrific whitener, especially as there are far superior whitening products available, but in combination with its sensitivity-reducing effects, it does very well and does remove light staining.

At around $8 (I’m sure it was more expensive when I first started buying it), it is good value, especially if used by dabbing on (for pain/sensitivity – brushing is better for stain removal) rather than brushing.

I strongly recommend it for people with sore or sensitive teeth and/or receding gums.

Tips: Use twice daily until pain/sensitivity/staining is gone then you can mix with cheaper toothpastes if economy is a consideration :)

Favourite Toothpaste!

The Sensodyne Total Care Gentle Whitening Toothpaste is actually my favourite toothpaste, because it gives my teeth exactly what they need and keeps them looking great.

Although I don't usually suffer from super sensitive teeth, this range was recommended to me by my dentist, because at my dentist visits I find things like scaling quite painful. Since using this toothpaste I have noticed a dramatic difference in the amount of pain I feel at the dentist, and also in my day-to-day life which I hadn't really noticed before.

It costs a bit more than regular toothpastes, but I find it is definitely worth it. The toothpaste itself is plain white, and tastes less minty than other brands. At first I really noticed this, but it's not a big deal and you get used to its taste very quickly. It also doesn't foam quite as much as other brands, but as it was recommended by my dentist and is so amazing for my teeth I figured foaming doesn't matter.

The whitening benefits of this particular toothpaste are great! I used this product morning and night, and after about a week or two my teeth were looking noticeably whiter and brighter, especially straight after brushing.
