Compact And Travel Friendly

The NARS eyeshadow duos are small, compact and easy to travel with. The formulas are quite buttery and easy to blend on the skin. I do find like a lot of other NARS products you will get the beat colour payoff by using your fingers to apply so I will apply majority of the pigment with my fingertip and then blend out the edges with a brush, that way it's more opaque and pops.

I really like the colour combinations in Surabaya and Isolde, both fairly natural tones making you able to create a softer daytime look into a deeper eye look.

These eyeshadow compacts are on the pricey side but I do find they last quite a long time.

Falls flat

I managed to pick up one of these duos for $10 on a One Day type site in a stunning blue and grey. I was so excited to get this eyeshadow as I love Nars products and the blue shade was very unusual and I hadn’t seen it before. As soon as it arrived I swatched the colours and they were beautiful and smooth unfortunately they didn’t translate like that on the lid. I found the shadow patchy and very faint and the more I applied the worse it got. I’ve tried different brushes, different eyeshadow primers and even using Mac Fix + but with no real improvement. I love the packaging which is the standard black rubbery compact that Nars is known for. The colour did last all day and it felt very lightweight but I would not purchase one of these duos again as I can definitely find better quality for the standard price.

Bellissimo

NARS has a reputation for producing amazing makeup products that are known to be amazing on all ages so as I fast approach 35 I decided it was time to upgrade my makeup hoard to include more NARS, firstly came the eyeshadow duo Bellissimo.

Pacakging of NARS products are gorgeous, timeless and super chic. With a velvet matte texture of black with the NARS logo printed in stark white, housed in a sleek thin case that opens to reveal the perfectly poured shadows and inbuilt mirror.

Bellissimo is a duo of brilliant off white (tiny reflective shimmer) and coffee brown shades (matte) that worked together on the lid, in different grades of blending can create a simple everyday look, as well as a soft smoky eye. So it makes for a versatile small compact for daily use and for on the go travel style.

With or without the use of a primer these shadows blend out beautifully without any fall out and the colour stays true all day long. It is true to say that this isn't anything revolutionary with a variety of palettes on the market that carry these shades, however these do not drag or cause your lids to wrinkle up (this is increased with the introduction of a primer) they are also perfectly balanced in pigmentation, that a little goes a long way, but not overly so that you spend 30 minutes trying to blend them out.

Even though they are expensive I am really happy with this duo that I think I need a couple more.

Very hit and miss

Like the title says, Nars duos are very inconsistent on quality. My duo in Surabaya is amazing but Key Largo sucks. I'll talk about Surabaya specifically - this has two dark shades of brown. One is more orange toned and the other is pure brown, no red tones. They are so damn pigmented. One swipe gives me intense colour and even though they look so similar in the pan, they swatch pretty different.

Great colour combinations

I have a great love of Nars eyeshadow duos. They have both basics (Madrague, Portobello) and bonkers yet inspired colour combinations (Nouveau Monde, Grand Palais).

Kalahari and Cordura are both great for brown smokey eyes, and compliment each other well.

Kauai is gorgeous gold and purple with an amazingly soft texture.

Nars love

I have been a fan of the nars range since I stumbled across the rave reviews on BR about it's blush orgasm which I love. I then ordered bronzer and eye shadows by Nars.

I have this in glimmering apricot/ lavender pink which is a fun fresh palet that I enjoy blending on my eyes to get some contour shading and sculpting going. Ok even for me that sounded fancy.... basically I like having two colours that work well on one palet because it is like someone said - Bex these work together.

And guess what? They do. I always get compliments on my eye shadow when I wear this and the truth is all I did was follow what Nars told me. Boom.

I like the sleek black packaging of Nars and the mirrors are fab for those of us who need to touch up on the go.

I find it wears well it lasts me for the day but I would reapply if I was heading out after work but it depends on what I have been up to that day.

It goes on well and I have so far avoided the dreaded crease on the eyelid. You know what I am talking about here ladies!

It is a tad pricey but I have had mine since October of last year and it doesn't even look like I have made a dent in it yet. So I am hoping it will last ages making it worth it ;) for me it was worth it because I love the product and it works so well with my skin tone. I am also a huge fan of Nars's added shimmer in it. I like to sparkle and currently love products with added sparkle ;)

Tips: It doesn't come with a brush of any sort so I suggest if you haven't got some great eye shadow brushes you buy some as these can make all the difference when applying eye shadows! A good set of brushes is a girls best friend (along with chocolate.... diamonds.... wine..... tea.... ok so I have a few best friends ;)

Key Largo

Nars packaging is lovely. With a black rubberised finish they do pick up makeup off your hands and table quite easily but that doesn't bother me. I do like that these are quite thin, makes them very easy to travel with. There is a mirror in the lid. But I don't really see the point of that when it is so thin.

Key Largo is a duo of a matte very light peachy pink and a shimmery bronze. I bought this duo in particular as I thought it was one eye look in a duo to make it easier to travel with. Usually I wear the light pink all over the lid and the bronze in the crease and with a thin liner brush as liner on the top and bottom.

On to the reason that I haven't scored this particularly well. The light pink shade is very hard to pick up! I think it just lacks pigmentation. It is very light and almost chalky. I still use it quite often but it can take a while to rub the brush in and build up the color. The bronze color is beautiful though! A golden bronze that picks up perfectly and blends like a dream. The two colors go together nicely and make a great everyday look for me. I just feel like it takes longer than it should with the pink color to make it work well. Especially with the price!

Tips: Be careful which duo you pick up! There are some duds out there. I enjoy this one but don't know if this would be my first choice if I was to pick again.

Must have!

Nars eyeshadow duos are a must have in my opinion! They come in incredible colours and have great colour pay off. They are also long lasting.

These eye shadows are silky and I never get fall-out from the shimmery colours. The eyeshadows also blend easily and can be built up well to achieve the pigmentation you want!

A little pricey, but considering you get 2 high end eyeshadows for this price, its well worth it! Also has sleek packaging with a mirror in the compact which is always handy!

Tips: I love to spray Mac fix+ onto my brush before applying the eyeshadow to get a more metallic/pigmented look!

I have Balthazar, Kuala Lumpur, Nouveau Monde, Paramaribo, Scorching Sun and Surabaya! I have heard stories of a few duds out there, but I've had no trouble with any of these!
