A highly pigmented eye colour that goes on creamy but dries to an intense, vibrant finish. Long-wearing, colourfast. Creates seamless coverage without weight or caking. Blends smoothly over the lids. Cream-based, can be mixed with M·A·C shadows and liners.

It stays all day without budging, creasing

I brought my very first MAC Paint Pot on a recent trip to the US I swatched it and immediately fell in love. This Paint Pot has a rich bronze colour which is shimmery, light-reflecting, and still quite soft. Not at all glittery either.

This goes on very smoothly and blends well. I have found its incredibly buildable from barely-there sheer to rich metallic opaque. It will look gorgeous and very summery by itself in summer i feel.

It stays all day without budging, creasing, or migrating.

Perfect.

MAC Paint Pot

I love MAC's paint pot range.I own a few of these beauties and use these at every opportunity! Once applied it is easy to blend and doesn't drag on your skin. Shadows apply well, do not not crease and are lasting. Although a little bit pricey for the size, one pot will last you a very long time.

Tips: You can use these as a Primer, Shadow & Liner - 3 in one! You can't go wrong!

Great eyeshadow base

I used to think these were the bees knees but over time more affordable/readily available alternatives have become available from other brands and I have stopped buying these. I actually get a very similar result with cheaper brands. However these are still a great product and they really lock-tight once applied and create a smooth canvas for powder eyeshadows. My faves are groundwork and painterly - the first as a base for darker looks and painterly for more natural looks with lighter shades. Overall a high performing cream shadow which does not crease on my very oily eyelids and they last all day.

Didn't live up to the hype

I purchased the soft ochre and painterly paint pots to use as coverage for the veins on my eye area. My skin can be both yellow and pink toned and so both suit me depending on what foundation undertone I'm using that day. I apply this with my fingers and use the heat of my fingers to warm it up. Moderation is key as too much will clump together. This dissolves on my hooded eyes 2-3 hours after application unfortunately. I have also tried using the paintpots as an eyeshadow base, and although colour wise this works well, it does not help with holding the eyeshadow on my lids. I will continue to use this for covering my veins, but I probably wouldn't repurchase.

Best Base

Pretty much every single time I apply eyeshadow I will use my Painterly Paintpot by MAC as a base. My eyeshadow clings to it which gives nice colour payoff plus it stays all day without creasing and gives me a nice even coloured lid to begin with. My favourite application technique is using the brush from one of my Urban Decay Naked palettes. I pick up a small amount of product with the shader type end, roughly apply it to my lid then blend it out and over the entire area with the fluffy end. Less is definitely more with this product, a little provides a nice barrier between the skin and shadow but too much kind of melts and creases.

Mac Paintpot Painterly

i recently bought Painterly and pretty much every single time I apply eyeshadow I will use my Painterly Paintpot by MAC as a base. My eyeshadow clings to it which gives nice colour payoff plus it stays all day without creasing and gives me a nice even coloued base i use a small brush to do so and also put a little under the eye if i am going for a smoky look. It's great as you use a minimal amount so is definately worth paying a wee bit more for it.

Tips: Use a small shadow brush and cover the whole lid for a great base with eyeshadow,

'Bare Study' and 'Let's Skate'

From the start the MAC packaging is great. Makes you feel like you have bought quality. From the glass bottom to the rubberised cap. I love the cap in particular as it lets you get some grip to open this (especially when you close the lid as tightly as I do).

I find using my fingers to apply these best. I find it warms up the product quite nicely so they apply smoothly and means I can blend out the edges. If I use a brush for these I can often apply too much product.

I often use these by themselves on simple makeup days. But they also work well as bases or primers for product. They definitely make powder eyeshadows last longer without creasing for me. I also like that a colored base like this can make the same eyeshadows have a completely different look.

Bare Study - Golden light brown. Great as a starter color although quite shimmery. I say it is great as a starter color as it is very neutral so will be within many peoples comfort zone. It also means it goes with many other neutral shades so you can use it with things you already have.

Let's Skate - Pale shimmery pink. I must say I don't use this nearly as much as Bare Study. But it is a great going out color as it is extremely shimmery. I do get a bit of fall down with this product - the shimmer dropping onto the face. However I usually do my eyes before face makeup so just brush it off. This is great as a bright base and really brings out my blue eyes.

Tips: Make sure you always do the lid up super tight and store them lid side down. As with many cream products these can dry out and doing this can make them last longer.

Great Longevity

I have found this product in painterly is the only thing that will hold my eyeshadow throughout the day, leaving it looking as good as when applied in the evening. This colour is also great just to even out and brighten eyes on its own. I love it.

Oily Lid Saver.

Oily lids are the bane of my existence. I have never found a magic potion that helps my eyeliner stay put for more than 3 hours. The paint pot in painterly means I get a decent 6-8 hours, depending on how warm it is, before my eyeliner transfers to the top of my lid. I know 6-8 hours doesn't sound like that long but compared to normal that is an epic amount if time. The bonus of using this is it evens out my eyelid skin tone and makes my eyeshadow colours more intense AND helps my liner stay put much longer. I have tried it with many formulas of shafow and liner and all of the wear times have increased when using it. Holy grail lid primer right here. I use it every day without fail! Worth the money for my oily lids.

Tips: I apply all over my lid with my ring finger. I find it blends well and goes on smoothly!

Make up won't budge

I had painterly it was great at first but then dried out in the pot soon after purchase I then brought Indianwood and told the girl about my previous pot she told me it just the air getting to it, and either put it upside down on the bench in between using or put a tiny piece of glad wrap over the product .( wish someone had told me first time round) Now I just screw the cap on straight away in between uses. Indianwood is a great colour for a smokey eye under eye shadows or on its own over the lid (good when in a hurry )

Tips: rub finger/brush in formula then put lid straight back on to avoid product drying out
