Glow

I liked the simplicity of the square glass jar.

I quite liked the smell of this. It was a light, soft, almost fruity smell. It was gentle on my skin. It was a gentle exfoliation without being really harsh on my skin. It also didn’t make me break out (bonus)!

I didnt really feel that it improved my skin tone any more than a normal exfoliator

I would still continue to use this though!

Glowtastic!

My skin can be described in many ways; as oily, shiny, pasty, but never as glowy. However, after using this scrub that's no longer the case! My skin looks fresh, glowy and healthy!

When I first opened the scrub one of the first things I noticed was the smell. It is lightly fragranced and at first I thought it smelled quite odd but as I started to use it, I realised it had a faint honey scent. This is quite pleasant while you're using the scrub as some exfoliators can be over-fragranced.

As you start using it the fine sugars dissolve almost immediately, giving the scrub a satisfyingly thick and luxurious texture. The instructions say to gently use the scrub until all the sugars dissolve but I found the coarser grains took a very long time to disappear so I wash the scrub off when I feel ready.

The scrub turns golden as you use it and almost looks like a thick application of fake tan! It is very fun to watch it change colour against your skin, and once you wash it off it leaves your skin looking lightly bronzed which gives it an amazing glow!

I love the way my skin feels after using this scrub! I have used so many exfoliators that made my skin feel dry or tight after use, but not this one! The sugars have some kind of moisturising effect as they leave your skin feeling smooth, supple, and wonderful!

Overall, I think this is an incredible product as it really gave my skin the glow I've always wanted. I would definitely be keen to give the other scrubs in this range a go!

Tips: Don't use too much, a little goes a long way as the finer sugars start dissolving!

Sugary fruity treat

Purchased the Glow sugar scrub at Farmers when on sale. This is the only one of the range that I've tried so far.

Here's what I like: The smell is fresh and citrusy, but the formula is not in any way drying. Having the sugar dissolve in water means you can have a scrub that suits your requirements at the time. Put it on dry and give a gentle massage for maximum scrubbage, or add a little water for something more gentle - it's up to you.

Usually I put it on dry, have a gentle scrub and then go straight in the shower, and massage it away from there.

What's not so good about this: It's been said before - the packaging is not very user friendly. Being in a jar and having to be kept out of water, I leave it in the bathroom drawer where it is often 'out of sight, out of mind', and I forget to use it. It is for this reason that I would be inclined to try a different sugar scrub next time - one that could live in the shower.

This would be a perfect product, if instead of being presented in a jar, it was in a tube.

Tips: If you want to exfoliate your lips go ahead, but don't do as I did and accidentally eat some - it doesn't taste good!!

Definitely my cup of (sweet) tea

As a long-term L'Oreal Paris Revitalift fan, and recent lover of it's clay charcoal scrub, I was very happy to receive this L'Oreal facial scrub. Housed in a weighty glass jar, the finely-grained sugar and oil scrub, has an earthy scent reminiscent of freshly-cut grass and squeezed citrus fruit. The scrub feels nourishing with a noticeably non-greasy feel from the grapeseed and monoi oils. The finely milled sugar and acai powder provide the perfect level of abrasiveness without being harsh, and partner well with the oils. I used this four times over the last week, luxuriating in its sweet softness (like touching a kitten's belly), with only a quick rinse afterwards. My glowing face felt soaked in softness, and my nose inhaled that lemon iced tea (scent) like a thirsty Southern Belle. The packaging suggests using it as a lip scrub (don't ingest). I have loved other sugar-based lip scrubs previously and this was no exception. It worked really well as a lip scrub, something very necessary in this age of matte lip colours, with the added lubrication of the oils. Everybody loves a good beauty multi-tasker!

Tips: Use only a little as it is a very effective exfoliator, despite its sweet appearance, and don't, definitely don't, wash off thoroughly. You want that lovely oily goodness steeping into your silky face. Please use on your lips- they will feel (silk) pillowy!

L'Oréal Paris Sugar Scrubs Glow Face Scrub Review

Product is contained in L'Oréal identifying packaging in a square glass jar. Product can clearly be seen in the jar indicating volume left but unsure how this would react with sunlight.

The Glow Scrub claims to brighten and boost radience, and I felt it delivered.

Applied dry on the skin and activated with water on your fingertips it spreads easily and feels softening not drying and gritty. That said, I wouldn't want to over exfoliate on the skin nor overuse the product, it is a scrub after all. I think once or twice a week would suffice on my aging skin.

I suffer from dry lips and gently tried this product on this area, it felt nice and did not leave my lips more dry but rather softer and less tight feeling.

I'm not a huge fan of the scent, but I don't enjoy scented products anyhow so it's not that it's largely unpleasant.

Not a huge amount in the jar but at this price point ($19.99) it's reasonable. The packaging states the scrub will last for 12 months once opened so it has longevity, if you don't use it all up fast of course!

Tips: Applying dry and activiating with water on your fingertips in circular motion before rinsing with warm water lends this to being a good shower product to use before you wet your face.

L'Oréal Paris Sugar Scrubs Glow Face Scrub

I really loved this scrub. It comes in a great box which clearly states what the product is, what's in it and how to use. I love the square glass jar the scrub comes in fits easily in my hand. The great thing is you only need a small amount at a time applied to your clean and dried skin, wet your fingers with warm water and using circular motions gently massage your face till the sugars melt then rinse with warm water. You can feel the sugars exfoliating your skin and as it melts it feels so silky smooth and it rinses off really easily. I liked the smell, was a citrusy smell which wasn't overpowering at all. Well I will say after the first use my skin felt really soft and smooth. As stated I used it 3 times in the week but really feel twice a week would be ample and had a couple of breakouts around the nose area but that's to be expected. My skin has felt great all week definitely alot smoother feeling and yes I'd say alot brighter when going a la naturale. It also states to use on your lips and yes my lips felt wonderfully smooth afterwards. Overall very happy with this product and at $19.99 I think it's value for money. Definitely my new favorite.

Tips: You don't need alot at first as once warm water is applied it spreads out. Using twice a week is probably enough.

Great start to the day

I'm a big fan of this exfoliator. I keep this in the shower and use it most mornings. It smells devine - a refreshing lemongrass type of scent. It really makes you feel refreshed using this at the start of the day.

The scrub is a sugar consistency as you expect, but it's not harsh. For me it was perfect as it felt it was actually exfoliating with some vigor. It's recommended you use it on dry skin with dry hands. When rinsing I tended to continue exfoliating a minute longer and the sugar dissolves and rinses away. The smell lingers in the shower too - which is so lovely.

Results are immediate, and lasting. Afterwards my skin is super soft. My makeup goes on smoother, and my skin has continued to stay smooth and soft. I've encountered no breakouts at all, and the product definitely takes that layer of dullness away.

The container itself is my only gripe. Though consistent with the L'oreal range, because I use it in the shower rather than at the sink, it doesn't sit easily on a shelf, and the glass jar is relatively heavy and bulky. Minor gripe though, and an OK price point, so I'd happily continue using this product when I saw it on special

Tips: - definitely dry skin/hands is the best application, and best to get the most from the scrub

Scrub but no glow

The packaging for this scrub is a bit unusual it comes in a glass jar similar to their recent face masks (which are amazing by the way!). With long nails I did find it a bit hard to get the product out nicely with gouging into it. The product itself is quite thick and you only need a small amount.

I popped a few bits on my face and then the instructions said with wet hands massage until sugar melts. Which is a different technique to what I normally do with scrubs, but thought it would be best to try it the way the product was intended. I actually liked using it this way as it was gentle yet effective, and left my skin feeling soft and lightly buffed. I didn't feel that it really made my skin 'glow' like other scrubs I had previously used but I definitely liked the product itself but may try one of the other types of scrubs they released with this one.

One of the main things I didn't like about the product was the smell it was sweet but with a bit of a tangy side maybe this has to do with the grapeseed oil? Its not horrible just a bit unusual.

Overall the product is nice and a great gentle scrub when following the instructions, would love of them to maybe put it into a tube style packaging for ease of use.

Tips: Just wet your fingertips and use a slow circular motion to buff into your skin until the sugar melts away.

Less dull vs. radiant

My judgement was clouded by my excitement for 2 favourite ingredients. I was expecting the scrub to have an intoxicating fragrance of Monoi and Grape Seed Oil but instead I got a dose of mediocre Mojitos mixed with a sickly scent of honey strepsils.

The sturdy packaging couldn't hide the fact that the colour of the product resembles its distant cousin, Spirulina and not the orange syrup in the promo. Even though the scrub is not hard to use, having the instructions on the jar (instead of the box) would have served as a reminder that it's not intended for daily use.

The texture is extremely soft and the sugar is fine enough that it's still gentle on the skin while giving it a good scrub. Aside from the fact it tastes ghastly it's fantastic as a lip scrub because it creates a smooth canvas for lip products to glide over.

Do I notice a difference? Yes and no. It helps prep my face for my skincare routine by removing the dead skin but I wouldn't say it improves the texture. It makes my skin feel smoother and appear less dull but I wouldn't go as far as to say it's more radiant.

With continued use I could possibly start to see an improvement in the texture and an improvement in the brightness of my skin but for now it's just a good old scrub.
