Pleasantly surprised!

I honestly didn't really have high expectations for this shampoo but I was surprised with how much I liked it and will be using it again. This is so simple and easy to use like any other shampoo, it lathered really nicely and coated my hair well. Sometimes I find natural origin shampoos don't lather as well but this one was fine and also very easy to wash out. I really put it to the test and used it on hair that very much needed a good shampooing but it cleaned the hair well with one wash, without making it feel stripped of nutrients. Love the environmental/ethical aspect of this product being vegan, cruelty free and made from recyclable plastics, good on you Garnier. My one down side is I did find the scent a bit overpowering and sickly sweet.

Tips: make sure to recycle that bottle!!!

Great for curly hair

My hair type Is naturally thick curly hair that is prone to be frizzy.

First off this shampoo smelt like banana lollies! At first I didn’t like it but it grew on me and wasn’t so strong the more I used the product. The scent does stay on the hair but is not over powering.

The consistency of the product is a little bit more of a light gel than really runny like some shampoos. For a natural shampoo it lathers really well as well, some natural shampoos barely lather at all. I found this to clean my hair well without weighing down my hair and making my scalp feel dry.

Fun and useful and VEGAN

To start off this review I’ll tell you about my hair. At the moment it’s shoulder length, and before trialing this product it wasn’t doing too badly. Usually, my hair and skin are dry as a bone. I suffer from dandruff because of this and I’ve quit using shampoo altogether in the hopes that I can preserve some of the natural oils that help my hair not to be so dry. I’ve only been using conditioner. This product seems to be around the $13 mark and that’s what I’ve been paying for my conditioner.

Okay, so the packaging. It’s fun! Not only is it made from recycled materials, it’s shaped like a little juice bottle, and I love it! Novelty is never a bad thing in my books.

The shampoo lathers really well which means you don’t need heaps and heaps, a saving grace at $13 a bottle. It smells delicious! Like banana candy, so you get a delightful little aromatherapy head massage as you apply. I was a little worried the scent would linger and rub off on my bedding and clothes but it really doesn’t.

Results, you ask? It’s pretty similar to the products around the same price range that I’ve already been using. My dandruff is non existent. My hair isn’t weighed down, and yet it doesn’t go all poofy and unmanageable. I did notice A LOT more softness (seriously, I can’t stop touching my hair…)

I’m well pleased with this shampoo, I haven’t found another that I’d prefer to use so this routine is definitely being added to the essentials!

Go Bananas

Packaging is not to bad bright yellow loaded with heaps of information right down to the natural origin etc

Well fragrance is banana more like the banana lollies yummy without being sickly The shampoo itself is clear.

This does foam up nicely and cleans my hair throughly without stripping it, it does leave it soft and lightly nourished and scented.

A little more bounce than I’m used to so not a heavy shampoo, quite surprised at how refreshed my scalp felt after using this shampoo.

For a shampoo it’s actually nice and cleansing without the weigh down, I’d definitely say it’s value for money.

Tips: Wash twice you don’t need too much maybe a tablespoon full

Garnier Banana shampoo

The only part I'm not sure on is the claim about leaving hair deeply nourished. This shampoo seemed to later and wash hair well I use temporary colour alot and I felt this washed out my colour like a regular shampoo does but not as stripping as an anti dandruff or clarifying one. I like the scent it is nice and sweet almost candy like. I have always enjoyed the banana hair food mask and got some of the Garnier hair food shampoos from the BR vault. This one and the Aloe Vera are my preference. My partner really likes the macadamia shampoo from the line. Combining the banana one and the macadamia one with some of the watermelon shampoo gave an even nicer smell. Love the natural based products and you get a good clean with then and as the description says I agree hair does not feel weighed down. The banana is for dry hair although I don't really find it to really hydrate on its own but hair feels soft clean and smells good. If you use with the hair food mask though it's great. I am always going to rebuy the hair food conditioners and hair food masks. As for the shampoos I possibly will if they come on special in the future.

Fruity cruelty free shampoo

I think this is a pretty good shampoo option for people with dry hair.

The consistency of this shampoo is thick which makes is easier to use and apply in the shower.

The banana smell is nice but not too strong. It doesn’t seem to linger and you definitely can’t smell it on your hair - I was worried my head was going to smell like a banana starburst!

I use a decent old 50 cent coin size of product to wash my long hair and that seems to be enough.

My roots can tend to get oily and I did find that this shampoo lifted that oil without turning the rest of my hair into straw. It can be difficult for me to find a shampoo that cleans without stripping everything but I think this product does an okay job.

I don’t think this shampoo left my hair deeply nourished but that’s not really what I look for in a shampoo - that’s what I want from my conditioner.

The packaging is fine and easy to open in the shower. It’s compact so doesn’t take up heaps of space in the shower. The only thing I will say is that the packaging is a bit ‘busy’ looking.

Overall, a perfectly good shampoo made better by using it alongside the condition. I would recommend to a friend with similar hair to me - long, dry but a bit oily on the roots.

Funky but Nice

This product comes in a funky but cute plastic bottle that looks like a juice bottle. It has a flip top with a perforation in the bottom of the cap to pour the product into your hand. That suits me because I like products that are simple to use, especially in the shower. It has very clear and neat labelling including the list of ingredients on the back.

The product itself is thick and clear, and has a lovely banana aroma. It doesn't take much to get a very foamy head of product that I can squeeze down my pony tail. It leaves my hair feeling very clean and it does not leave any residue, so doesn't weigh my hair down nor leave it looking dull. I can't smell the lovely scent afterwards sadly.

The product appears to cost around $11.50.This seems a little pricey but the product is vegan and comes in a recyclable bottle so I'd expect to have to pay a bit more. It is pretty much commensurate with any other good shampoo and is not exceptional, but I would use it again if I found it on special, and I do recommend it to others to try.

Tips: Use with the matching conditioner.

Average but gentle shampoo…

I was excited to try this Garnier Fructis hair food shampoo with banana, especially because it claims to be able to target ‘dry’ hair, and my hair is a bit like the Sahara right now! So anything nourishing and hydrating appeals to me at the moment…

It comes in a cute, little bottle that looks good enough to drink from (but don’t! And leave it out of reach of little kiddies too!).

The first thing I noticed once I’d squeezed this product from the cute bottle was the colour of the formula (or lack thereof). It is not creamy-looking like I expected. It’s just kind of pale and opaque, with perhaps a very light yellowy/orangey tint… So the almost-colourless formula was a bit of a surprise to me, but not offputting. I don’t necessarily need my shampoo to be a certain colour. It was just not what I’d been expecting.

The scent is also a bit non-descript. It could be a bit more fragrant if I was to be super picky. I wasn’t that enamoured with the scent, to be honest, but at least it’s not overpowering or artificial-smelling.

The texture, however, is perfect - not too runny and not too thick. Just right! And squeezing it from a bottle is far easier than getting it from the tub that these Garnier Fructis hair food products have traditionally come in. I’ve decided that I much prefer squeezing hair products from a bottle in the shower rather than having to use my hand to get product out of a tub. Bottles are no fuss, especially when the formula is not too thick but just right - like this one is. It is easy to squeeze out and there are no hassles using this product in the shower.

This shampoo lathers up well too and it feels like it does a good job at washing my hair. It is sustainable, vegan and gentle, so it is kind on the hair and pleasant to use. It isn’t a problem to rinse it out either, so overall the texture and the formula is spot on, in my opinion.

But, unfortunately, I wouldn’t say I’ve been completely won over by the actual results... It doesn’t appear to have had any noticeable hydrating effect on my Sahara-dry hair. It hasn’t been a complete disappointment either, and because it is of 96% natural origin, it’s cruelty-free, kinder on the hair, and better for the environment. So I’d recommend it if you are looking for something reasonably natural and gentle... It’d also be good for children’s hair too, I’m sure. But overall this product didn’t have the ‘Wow factor’ for me in terms of being able to solve my dry-hair issue. Three kisses.

Tips: Keep out of reach of kids.

It's ok

This smells lovely not over powering and doesn't feel like it strips your hair when using it and lathers up quite nice. I haven't noticed anything amazing while using this on my hair but it definitely is not doing anything bad to it either it just cleans your hair which ok. I would buy again if I'm just wanting a standard shampoo that does the job but wouldn't make it my new go to.

A Little Goes a Long Way - Garnier Banana Shampoo

I was chosen by the BR team to trial out the shampoo and conditioner and i have to say, wasn't the biggest fan of it. Yes the shampoo lathered up well but i felt it stripped my hair abit, i have very highlighted hair and after washing out the shampoo it felt very brittle and dry which i don't normally get with my regular shampoo. I used the range twice once without straightening my hair and once with, when i had my hair natural it gave me volume and bounce, when i used my straightener i noticed alot more fly away hairs and my hair got greaser two days sooner than normal.

In terms of the bottle packaging i feel it's abit dated and it belongs in the 80's, its very busy, i like simplicity over too much.

Overall the product did what is said it would but i wasn't the biggest fan of it and gave it to my niece to finish off who LOVES it

Tips: a little goes a long way and don't forget to shampoo twice
