Yves Saint Laurent Black Opium Review

This scent has a beautiful hint of floral, musky, vanilla spice all in one and it just works so well. I always carry this in my bag although this lasts so long when you spray it on you, unlike some perfumes when you spray it on and the scent disappears after an hour or 2. I always top up on this perfume.

Black Opium has long been one of my favourite scents. It should first be noted that if you already have YSL Opium, this is VERY different. Opium is woody and smokey, but Black Opium is sweet and fruity.

The packaging is pretty, and and I like the colour combo they have used of black and pink.

The first few times I used this I loved it so much that I layered on a thick dose all over my body, hair and clothes. But then I started smelling it on other women who had also taken the same YOLO approach and drenched themselves this already very strong perfume. It made me realise that the sweetness of vanilla, fruit (raspberry? strawberry?) and floral notes can actually be quite nauseating. The sickly sweetness thus makes the wearer seem like a 13 year old girl spraying Impulse throughout a confined space.

So. The trick is to only use a 2 spritzes, and trust that the sweet top notes will remain present for a long time before the woody base notes come out.

I have smelt this scent in store and wasn't fussed but then I received a sample in the CBBBE and I actually like it. It is one that I would wear on a night out as it has an alluring scent to it and the bottle is gorgeous. For me I much prefer this over the original Opium. I have used this during the day and didn't find that it lasted all day on me. I will be purchasing this at some stage.

I love this perfume. The fragrance is so beautiful and long lasting. It's perfect for any occasion whether going out with the girls or having a chilled out day with the family, it's just the perfect scent for every occasion. I highly recommend it.

I absolutely adore black opium, it is the first perfume Ive loved so much I used the whole bottle and bought another, my hubby even knows he won't go astray buying me this! Love the sweet notes, smells like warm brown sugar mmmm

I simply adore this heavenly scent and it has become one of my signature scents over the last two years. It's great in summer and winter but use sparingly in summer as it's quite strong and sometimes it can be a little too floral if it's too humid. I love that it lingers and I can pick up the scent on my bag strap or seatbelt or my sons pj's. It's a timeless and beautiful fragrance and I cannot recommend it enough.

.. this has become one of my favourite perfumes of all time. I tend to purchase unisex scents like spicebomb or opium black but this smell absolutely blew me away I just needed it. It's definitely the black coffee that makes it so unique and Although it is very strong It's not overwhelming in any way. Another bonus is it last on my skin all day, yippee!!
