This is the first perfume of CACHEREL, which was created in 1978.

ANAIS ANAIS is a ultra-feminine fresh, rich and romantic bouquet of flowers. Transparent orange blossom with heady hyacinth open the composition. The intensive floral heart blends sweet rose, delicate white lily and magical jasmine.

The base is composed of comforting amber, warm sandalwood with a tender touch of misterious incense.

Love or Hate

This perfume is quite polarising. It has been on sale for many years and can be considered a classic. For me personally, I have never been a fan of this type of scent. It is incredibly powdery, and very synthetic. I find it is in the same vein as Elizabeth Arden's Red Door.

I don't find this perfume to be modern or very young

It's described as a floral, though I don't actually get any flower notes

MrsO

My Husband bought me this perfume years ago & I have used it ever since. He's fussy about perfumes & the scent of creams, & this is the only one that we both like.

Tips: A little goes a long way, even with the eau de toilette, which is not as strong as the eau de parfum, so apply sparingly.

Not for me anymore

I’ve had Anais Anais in my perfume collection on and off over the years, and while it may have initially been one of my go-to perfumes, that’s definitely not the case anymore so I won’t be repurchasing it. I agree though with Lefemmenikita’s comment below that this perfume can be quite ‘polarising’, there are people out there who really love it, but I’ve grown to DISlike it...

Firstly, it’s a kind of old fuddy duddy-looking bottle. It may have looked sophisticated when it first appeared on the shelves in the late 70’s, but I reckon that kind of pattern is easily what you might find on 1970’s wallpaper or perhaps on the side of a tissue box these days! The actual bottle is also kind of thick and short, lol, there’s really not much shape to it, but it’s not how a perfume looks, it’s how it smells that counts...

Well, first of all, it’s quite a strong scent. A ‘bouquet of flowers’ is a good description, a lot of florally notes seem to come through all at once, although exactly which ones I couldn’t tell you - it’s quite a complex, rich scent. But I wouldn’t call it a subtle or ‘romantic’ bouquet, it’s more a big, full-on, in-your-face, ‘look-at-moi’ bouquet! I guess, over time, I thought I could downplay the smell by just being quite frugal with the amount I sprayed on, but the scent has now come to irritate me somewhat - there’s just no downplaying this rich bouquet!

Maybe it’s the hint of jasmine that comes through as I’ve never really been a fan of jasmine - it can sometimes smell a bit too sweet or ‘sharp’ to my nose. But seeing as jasmine is in quite a few perfumes, I’m not sure if this is the precise reason why I’ve come to dislike the scent of Anais Anais. Maybe it’s just that Anais Anais now seems a bit too overpoweringly floral to me.

I also have to agree with some of the previous comments below that there also seems to be a hint of powder coming through, so if you do like to smell like a walking bouquet mixed with a bit of talc, well this might be the perfume for you! Actually, that might be a bit harsh, the scent is not exactly horrible or offensive, and I did obviously like it when I was younger! So maybe my tastes have just changed over time. My preferences now lean more towards the exotic-yet-subtle-scented perfumes, such as Elizabeth Arden’s Green Tea range.

It may have been around for 40 years, but has the scent of Anais Anais kept pace with the times? My answer to that would be no... It would’ve fit right in in the age of floral-patterned flares and bell sleeves and indeed it would’ve even been fine throughout the 80’s, which is when I first got my whiff of it. But I don’t think it’s that cool in 2019... Old-fashioned and overpowering are the two words I now think of when I think of this perfume.

Tips: Use sparingly!

Never fails to make me sneeze

It amazes me how long this scent has survived but it has many followers. Unfortunately on me it has a spicy white peppery christmas lilly like topnote that just irritates my nose and makes my eyes water just like actual lillies do to me in real life. It is full of leathery notes so if you like leather this is a good fragrance for you.

Young and fresh

Anais Anais is one of those classic, singular scents which I always recognise right away. I am personally not very fond of the bottle, it is a bit squat and plain - unlike the fragrance inside. Top notes are a blend of lily, rose and orange blossom, very fresh and feminine. As it settles the base notes of incense and amber are discernable but the overall impression of white flowers remains strong for hours. The sillage can fill a room so a light hand is needed when applying. I wore the eau de toilette in my twenties and felt very sophisticated, it feels like a scent for the young and carefree. I expect young women today would consider this fragrance terribly old-fashioned, which is a shame because it really encapsulates innocence and wonder. The price is very reasonable for a high end, classic scent that will last and remain relevant for a long time.

Tips: This fragrance is by Cacharel, not Cacherel.

My first Perfume

This was given to me when I was about 14yrs old from my Grandmother who felt this was appropriate for a young girl. I always described this as spicey flowery fragrance. The flowery blossom and then sandalwood, incence really harmonize together well, with a hint of orange is how I would best describe this. Always had to be careful not to overspray, as it can be quite potent. Its a fragrance that would suit young to mid 20's girls in my opinion.

sweet girly smell

Wouldnt over spray as its very strong, nice feminine smell for the summer months. Would be best with just one spray as the smell tends to be very sweet and strong first until fragrance settles

Tips: I spray this into the air and walk through the mist as it gives a gentler smell:)

Anais Anais

Can honestly say I cant stand this perfume. Every time I smell it it makes me think 'old lady smell' wouldn't recommend it to anybody under 80.

What I call a "mummy' scent

This is another one of those why did I buy that, left to lurk it out with the others cluttering up my drawer. I do believe I brought it during a sale where everything was under $10 so brought it untested, but knew my mum liked it so as I normally like her scents grabbed it.

The bottle has a really odd design; I don’t really like it now it’s all plastic looking and the texture is kind of cheap and plastic too when you run it through your fingers it kind of catches a little (hard to explain) with the label of the image and name wrapped around it. Has a lid that reminds me of an aerosol can lid, that pops off to reveal a silver topped sprayer which works really well and gives you enough.

The fragrance is similar to if you have a fresh bouquet of flowers, fresh from the nursery and inhale it, its floral and green, mixed with a citrus like lemons or limes, it’s quite overpowering but not sickly. I wear it on the odd day when I’ve rummaged through and found it, it’s nice for a summer BBQ date at night, it seems to work really well with night times versus sunlight for me.

Can't Live Without it!!

I love this perfume! It is fresh, creamy scent of lilies & hyacinth. But I love the smell of exotic lilies too! I where it everywhere & I love the smell on other people when they breeze past me wearing it. I'm addicted to it! I have been wearing it for 10yrs. I have also tried the toilette which is a bit softer but aroma doesn't last as long.
