E.L.F Under Eye Setting Powder

I have read mixed reviews on this product and thought I really need to try this for myself! So I ordered it off Iherb, I thought I probably wouldn't like it, because I use so many other products under my eyes that it was going to look cakey etc.

My first impression of the packaging itself was that it was so tiny, i use a fluffy blending brush so when i get some product on there and then go to tap off the excess it just goes everywhere because the container is so small!

I started using it, i didn't dislike it but i didn't love it either, It didn't look cakey though so that was a plus! I love a dewy/bright finish, and this product is quite glittery, so if you don't like glitter, you wont like it! But for me that was a plus! It was really affordable but i just think its like any other translucent powder out there. I don't reach for it everyday just because it is an effort to use with such awkward packaging. But it does give a nice finish, so I don't regret buying it but i wouldn't be in a rush to repurchase it.

Maybe it gets better?

First of all, YAY cheap product that everyone can afford! hooray ELF!

However, the brush is a waste of time, mine actually fell out of the packaging before i even got the product home. Once out of the packaging i unscrewed the lid on the tiny pottle and then proceeded to take off the plastic top that was on the glass pottle, little did i know that you actually peel off the plastic strip on the plastic top that has holes in it (derrr) you could only just see the strip and required tweezers to remove it, no wonder i missed it. Tipping the pottle upside down with the lid on a few times gives you a tiny amount of product to play with, i used this with a small stipple brush and dabbed a small amount under my eyes.

I havent notice any dramatic differences yet but overuse the product and hello glitter face! However no creases!! hooray, i will try it with different concealers etc and see what results i get.

HD? Huge Dud?

I really wanted to like this product after hearing so many good things about it! Unfortunately I was not a fan. I applied it originally over my concealed under eyes with a real techniques setting brush and I definitely felt like it didn't do anything other than add an un-needed layer of powder. The glitter didn't show up too much which was nice but I didn't find it gave me any sort of coverage, glow, highlight, anti-crease miracle. It was just a layer of slightly-whiter-than-translucent powder. I still found myself going in with a proper full coverage powder because it didn't do what I needed it to do. This may work for people who wear not a lot of makeup and want to prevent oil or running eyeliner but it definitely was for my full face of makeup.

Cheaper alternative

This comes in a very tiny jar with a little brush. It does leave your under eye area nice and bright and sets your concealer nicely although I do find that some days you can see more 'sparkle' than others and I worry about how that will look in photos. I don't use the brush that comes with it but a slightly bigger one and be sure to tap if excess powder. It is a great affordable alternative but I will be trying something else soon.

Undereye Setting Powder

This powder does an excellent job of setting my undereye concealer and gives a great, smooth finish. However it does have some rather large glitters which I do not like as it does look slightly like eyeshadow fallout. Also the container is not the best as the powder does tend to go everywhere and make a mess and I feel like I am loosing product. I do like this setting powder but I do think there a probably better ones. However, for the price it is a very good option.

ELF Undereye Setting Powder

I picked this up one day in K-Mart when I was lucky enough to spot a few ELF goodies left on shelf and was waiting for my Iherb order to arrive.

I'm not a huge fan of the packaging. Unfortunately, I'm a bit of a clutz, and I find the container and lid to be quite awkward to handle myself and apply the powder from. The brush it comes with I also find rather fiddly and prefer to apply it with a longer handled brush for easier application. Non-clutzy people may be fine though!

The powder itself reminds me a lot of ELFs HD setting powder which I bought after this, in that they're both very finely milled, talc-like powder. The undereye powder is more or a cream colour though with a faint shimmer through it, which is only slightly visible on the skin.

I didn't think this really worked well alone on my dark circles or lines, however I did really like it for setting my undereye concealer.

I probably wouldn't purchase this again, because for the price I feel you would be better off just purchasing the HD setting powder which is so similar and I found worked just as well at setting my undereye concealer, just without the sparkle. You get a lot more with the HD setting powder so it does end up being more economical and it has the added benefit of being able to use it across the face.

Tips: Use a light hand when applying this so as not to leave a powder trail!

Not too sure about this

Because of all the hype and its affordable price, why not? I purchased this off iherb and when it arrived my first initial thoughts were, damn thats tiny! The brush is no use i reckon. I use this with my real techniques setting brush which i love! (I reviewed it as well)

I don't think it is as fine as people make it out to be, although its definitely not chunky. There are specks of glitter on the powder but as you apply it, it turns into a sheer adding a glow on your skin. As for setting my concealer, i think it does an okay job. I still prefer my ben nye banana powder, maybe because I'm tanned.

The longevity of the product is not as great. I still need to set my under eye with my normal face setting powder. I don't think this keeps me matte at all. I find that within 2 to three hours of wear the powder has disappeared, but when i use my ben nye powder, it lasts longer. It doesn't really help with creasing. Sometimes my under eye still creases with this on.

The packaging is so tiny and its got quite a stubborn cap, like when you twist it close, its sometimes on the wrong line of twist if you get me, but thats just being nitpicky because for the price its not too bad.

Overall, its good for the price. If you're on a budget then this is great but id totally recommend ben nye's powders.

Tips: Always tap off the excess and don't use too much

Too much shimmer

This product is packaged in a nice and simple way and the product is indeed really silky feeling. However, I found when I applied it to my undereye area it was much too shimmery for my liking. In certain lights it even looked like I had put glitter under my eyes, when I prefer a matte look on my skin.

The product itself is really good at setting the concealer I put under my eyes, and it is a crazy good price so I would possibly purchase it again.

I was very excited to try this product out because of all the hype around it, and I was a little disappointed with it (I love the rest of the e.l.f range though!)

Unsure

Not sure how I feel about this one. It is definitely brightening under the eyes, but my concealer still creases under my eyes which is annoying because I bought it to stop the creasing.

Tips: Don't use the brush it comes with, use an eyeblender brush or small fluffy face brush this minimizes the amount of sparkles that end up on your face.
