Less Than Impressed

I purchased the elf Stipple Brush at the end of last year when I was looking for a brush for my liquid foundation. However, I found this brush terrible for the job! Although the bristles are soft, have had zero fallout so far, and the brush itself is visually quite chic, the bristles were simply not dense enough to apply liquid foundation. I found the product was very difficult to apply and blend in, and I ended up having to use my fingers to compact the brush in order for the bristles to be tightly packed enough.

However, I found this brush worked great for powder and blusher! So would recommend for those products, and not for liquid makeup.

I've tried this with foundation and just can't get it looking nice. I much prefer a sponge or dense kabuki. I think I will have to try this brush out with blush so thanks for the tip

E.L.F STIPPLING BRUSH

Most stippling brushes can be more on the pricey side , luckily for us the E.L.F has an affordable one for any girl in any price range.

This brush is multi purpose you can use it for your liquid foundation or your powder blush. I have a few and I use it for all sorts of products.

I love using it with a light to medium coverage foundation as it gives it a nice air brush motion.

This brush is great for extremely pigmented blushes as it won't pick up too much excess product.

Tips: If you're just starting with makeup and don't know what type of brushes to get, a stippling brush is multi purpose.

Airbrushed Effect

I bought my e.l.f. Small Stipple Brush from Kmart, and it has a unique two-layer two-tone black and white bristle design with soft textured layers, which help to create an almost airbrushed effect when used to apply foundation.

The brush makes it easy to create a sheer to light application by swirling the brush around in circles, spreading the foundation over the skin, and can also be used to build up coverage to medium or full by dabbing or "stippling" the foundation in areas that need extra coverage. The design of the bristles makes it easy to get into those hard to reach places around the corners of the nose and under the eyes.

This brush is perfect to use with cream, liquid and even powder products, and the bristles remain soft even after many washes, just be careful not to get the ferrule wet (the metal part that holds the bristles onto the handle), as getting water inside the ferrule will cause the glue to soften and weaken, which causes bristles to fall out.

For a cheap, affordable brush, I was quite surprised that it worked so well. It's great for use on oily and combination skins, although I'd be a little wary of using a stipple brush on sensitive or very dry skin, as a brush can aggravate sensitive skin or highlight very dry patches of skin by lifting them (a sponge or beauty blender is usually best to use on very dry skin).

Tips: Clean it regularly with Micellar Water or Baby Shampoo and lay it flat with the handle slightly raised, bristles pointing down (to prevent water running into the ferrule) to dry.

Perfect for beginners!

This was one of my first elf brush purchases, and it was perfect! Great multi-purpose brush and helped me get used to using brushes to apply my makeup! I would definitely recommend this for beginners as its not too dense so you don't pick up too much product and can build up your products slowly for your desired look.

I now own a good collection of brushes from many different brands but this one still seems to get used every now and then. Its not a brush I would automatically grab first these days, but it is still a good brush. It has a strong sturdy handle and has never shred which is always great features in such a cheap brush!

Amazing and affordable!

I purchased this brush off iherb.com a couple of years ago and I absolutely love it. It cost only US $5 which was a steal for what it is and how long it has lasted me. Even after regular use over a couple of years it looks as good as new and hasn't lost a bristle...amazing for just a few dollars!

The brush design is super simple and plain black which I like. It is standard in size compared to the rest of my brushes and is great for applying products where less is more. Because the brushes bristles are not densely packed like an ordinary brush, but more sparse it is great for blending out product and applying smaller amounts of products. I love to use this with both powder and cream blushes as well as applying a light coverage of foundation.

This is a must have brush for me and something I will definitely repurchase if mine ever needs replacing. I have my eye of the smaller version of this too :) Would recommend this brush to all as it is great quality, versatile and fantastic value for money.

Tips: Use this to apply cream and powder blush and foundation :)

A must have for all Beauty Brush Collections

The ELF stipple brush was actually one of the first brushes I added my to collection, due to the recommendation from a vlogger who I adore and I have to admit it has become a favourite of mine, and a brush I use almost every day.

This Brush is a product from the Elf range. If you haven’t heard of ELF before, this brand is an extremely affordable option, with this brush costing around $3 USD, which I think is incredibly cheap for this brush. (I purchase mine off I herb for those who are interested). This brush has a simple design, and features an almost entirely black handle, which is adorned with the ELF logo in plain white text. The handle feels like it’s made of a plastic, but it feels quite strong and sturdy and I find it easy to hold and like the slight curved shape of the handle. The mid-section of the brush has a metal coating over it which continues until the actual brush bristles begin. The bristles are so soft, and sort of pouf out a little bit and feature both black and white bristles, with the black bristles being about ¾ of the length of the white ones.

This brush was recommended for the use of cream blushes, and so that is the main product I use with this brush and I just find it amazing for cream blushes. Literally every other method, tool, and brush I have tried for cream blushes is nothing compared to this. This brush easily picks up the blush, and disperses it evenly over my face so that’s amazing. I also use this brush for powder foundations, as well as blending product so find it’s a really great multi-purpose product. I really think everyone should have one of these in their collection, especially if they use cream blushes a lot, or if they are just starting a brush collection. This is a super affordable option which so far hasn’t shed a single bristle (and I have been using this for over 6months), plus it’s a great multi-purpose brush.

Soft and Fluffy!

When I first got this brush I was too afraid to use it because it was so darn soft and fluffy!! For a while I used it as a powder brush, but eventually I got over my fear and used it with my foundation and BB cream.

I don't like the way this puts my BB cream on, so I stopped using it with the BB cream. I could see the brush strokes and I ended up just smoothing them out with my fingers.

Used with foundation, it works alright. It's not magic but it does the trick, blends out nicely and I like using it better than using foundation with a blending sponge. The only problem I have with it is I washed it the for the very first time, getting the handle slightly wet, and the glue has all but come loose and now my brush is a little broken.

Too Small For Foundation, Perfect For Cream Blush

I don't use this for my foundation because of how tiny it is. It could definitely do a wonderful job, but it would take far too long. For cream blush, highlighter, bronzer..? Absolutely perfect. It gives such a natural, almost air brushed look to the skin and it's so easy to blend anything and everything. I love it and if they come out with a bigger version, I will gladly buy it for my foundation.

It's super soft and fluffy and doesn't pick up too much or too little product. It's perfect for getting under the cheekbones, on the cheekbones, on TOP of the cheekbones and just anywhere you might need to highlight, contour or apply blush. I think I paid $10 for mine and KMart and I think that's crazy affordable and anyone can benefit from having a brush like this in their collection.

New Favourite

I love this brush!

I bought this as a cart filler on iHerb, and I actually thought I'd use it for foundation but as soon as I got it I knew it wasn't the right brush for that. So, I went to my second option - highlighter.

Because I apply highlighter quite heavily I love this brush because it does exactly what I want from it.

If you stipple it onto your skin, it gives more product off than when you stroke it over your skin. A+++ for whoever came up with that concept!!!

The brush itself is quite light, and the bristles seem a bit on the weaker side, but for $3 you can't go wrong with buying this.

It's my new favourite brush (I actually love that it's so lightweight!) and I would definitely recommend this to anyone needing a brush specifically for highlighting.

Great with Foundation

I bought this brush as I had been looking for a stipple brush and I love the E.L.F brand.

I really like this brush for applying liquid foundation. But that being said, I wear liquid foundation lightly under powder foundation. For this combination this brush works really well.

For heavier foundation or for wearing liquid foundation alone it could look slightly streaky and a beauty blender may be a better option. But if you are wearing powder over top, brushing that on with a kabuki brush or something of the sorts seems to help further blend the liquid foundation underneath.

The brush is soft and quite fine. I have not found the bristles to come out at all yet (I have owned it for almost a year). I find it washes easily and goes back into shape well.

I am totally happy with this brush and it exceeded my expectations. I would definitely purchase again.

Tips: Great for applying light liquid foundation. To avoid any noticeable streaks, use a powder foundation over top.
