My New Holy Grail.

After hearing a lot of hype about this foundation, I finally decided to ignore the threats from my bank account and purchase it. This was something I really wanted to try because my skin is dry and often foundations end up looking either dull or patchy on me.

The bottle is small and made out of glass. It feels heavy and expensive and really well made. However - this DOES NOT come with a pump. For the price I was a bit annoyed that I had to purchase a pump separately - but I love the product so much that this is an annoyance rather than a serious detriment. Also worth noting is that once you do have a pump, the lid won't fit on the foundation - although the pump itself has a lock to prevent spillage.

I am in the shade Gobi which is rather light with yellow undertones. This is a great match for me and I used findation to match my colour.

The product itself is quite liquidy and not at all thick. True to its name it is sheer - but only in consistency. The coverage it provides is medium and definitely not sheer, although you can still see your skin through one application. My favourite things about this foundation are that - it actually looks like skin, you can build it up and the coverage is great but it still looks like skin (it doesn't make you look cakey at all), and that this is great on my dry skin.

So far I haven't had any issues with this clinging to dry patches or enhancing the dryness of my skin. As the name of the product suggests, it does have a glowy finish but this isn't super dewy. However if you prefer a matte finish then I wouldn't recommend this for you - unless you plan on applying powder over the top.

Yes this is a pricey product. However, you only need a small amount of this to completely cover your face (one pump), so this is going to last a while. This foundation lasts all day on me (12 hours), without patching up or looking weird. I do set this with a setting spray so that possibly helps prolong the wear.

I have tried both a beauty blender and a brush to apply this and have found that - for my skin, a beauty blender is far more natural and flawless looking. In saying that though a brush usually tends to micro exfoliate my skin and I prefer a BB in general.

Overall I am so, so glad I decided to splurge on this. I will absolutely repurchase it even though the cost makes me cringe. It feels lightweight on the skin, gives me a subtle, healthy looking glow and looks natural. I love this!

Tips: Get a sample of this from Mecca or a NARS counter if you want to purchase it to make sure you like it :)

Thanks kellyleanne - I was worried I wouldn't like it due to the price but I love it! Thanks so much Chikoboo - if I'm brave enough to attempt a matte face again I'll try that out :)

I feel in love with this foundation on your skin!! *creepy much* but I found that even on my dry skin I got a matte effect by just a touch of loose setting powder that allow the glow effect to still come on through =)

Disappointed.

I just couldn't get this foundation to work for me. I have normal skin, leading more to dry then oily. I found the only way to get this foundation to blend was by using a damp sponge, then I found it was too lighter coverage (and I'm not a fan of full coverage) it says the best way to apply is with your fingers but this didn't work for me, nor did a brush. It would look streaky and not sink into my skin. It was far too frustrating to get it too look right so I gave up on it.

When I wore it I didn't find my skin looked glowy. It was more of a satin finish which wasn't what I was looking for.

The packaging is a nice glass bottle but I think it's annoying having to buy a pump seperately. And once you have a pump the lid isn't able to be used.

They have a good selection of shades.

Hands down the best full coverage foundation ever!

I was sold on this from reading and seeing another BR member wearing it making her skin glow with health and radiant beauty, so I got jealous and after attaining some samples to colour match myself I purchased from Nordstrom.

I'm in the lightest shade: Siberia

Packaging for NARS is very universal across the whole brand with its texturised black with white NARS logo printed as a lid for the foundation bottle which is made of glass, it just feels luxurious which is what you want for the price you have to pay for this product. Only downside is that Sheer Glow doesn’t come with a pump, you have to purchase this separately (extra $6 usd) but I feel it is best to extend the product by control the quantity used each application. Formula wise this is a moderately thick foundation but not too thick that it sets quickly on your face or drags across the skin, but not so thin that it runs easily, it’s the perfect texture to apply with a dampen sponge to get a flawless even coating. Even though this is called Sheer Glow and I was warned and half expecting my skin to become dried out by the formula, this has yet to happen in fact it keeps my skin in a nice condition, the coverage is a full effect so also helps to cover blemishes and marks. Being a long wear foundation too I saw this coverage hold up with descending into an oily mess or dried up parched look for a full 10-12 hours easily. Removing the foundation was easy too no need for any special remover, just a makeup remover wipe followed by my normal cleanser.

The effect that this foundation gives my skin those is enough to give me goose bumps I am left with a perfect porcelain toned coverage that glows at the right spots, across the cheeks and temples. My skin looks dewy but not oily, matte and soft but not dry and flaky it is just the best I can not rave any more about it, even though it is super expensive even if you purchase in the US it is still one of the most expensive foundations it shows and is truly worth its price tag. I see myself forever in love with this foundation now it is going to take some kind of magic to force another into my heart.

Love it

Nars Sheer Glow is a fantastic foundation for anyone who has duller/dryer skin like I do. It has light to medium coverage, so for the days where those pesky spots show up concealer is definitely needed but overall I would recommend this and repurchase. The only thing, although hydrating, I'm not sure it has improved my skin itself overall but then it is only foundation.

Tips: I would recommend using a beauty blender or a flat top synthetic brush to applicate rather than a traditional paddle foundation brush. Just blends so much better that way.

Fav dewy foundation!

I'm someone with oily skin but I still really like a dewy finish and I feel like I get that with this foundation, I have a glow to my skin even after setting it with a powder. It's super light with medium coverage, which is perfect because I don't think I have a lot to cover; I just want a sheer glow (haha) which I definitely get with this. I especially love the fact that this line of foundations has so many shades, and a lot of them are yellow toned, I don't like the fact that these foundations don't come with a pump so I find that I waste a lot of product. It's also a bit expensive but I still think it's worth it!

Tips: I like to apply mine with a flat top brush

My holy grail foundation

NARS Sheer Glow is the most beautiful, and blendable foundation I have every had the pleasure of applying. I wouldn't call it "sheer" as the name suggests. It give great coverage and lasts all day on my combo skin. It makes my skin look so beautiful and as a productaholic, this makes me happy. Only downfall is it doesn't come with a pump on the bottle.

Tips: I prefer to use a flat or angled top brush to apply this. You don't need too much product either. I tend to then use a damp beauty blender to bounce over parts of skin where foundation tends to grease up a bit first.

All time favourite liquid foundation!

It's really hard to find a foundation in my skintone, so finding NARS Syracuse has been amazing! It's a perfect match to my skin, it leaves my skin with a healthy, natural, dewy glow, it lasts the day or night and doesn't oxidise and turn orange which many foundations in my skinone tend to do. It's a must have and lasts for ages. My one fault is that it does not come with a pump so you have to buy one separately.

Tips: Work this foundation in with your fingers, your body heat will warm it slightly and will blend even better into your skin without having an overly 'cakey' look.

Disappointment city

As with everyone else, for the longest time I was dying to get my hands on this gem! I was in the market for a new foundation in my winter colour so I picked up a sample of this in the shade Mont Blanc.

It was the most perfect colour match for me that I have ever come across, which makes the impending doom that was my experience with this foundation all the more heartbreaking.

I have dry skin, hence the fact I was drawn to a foundation geared towards dry skin folk. However, this foundation just made my face look extra dry and dull.

I applied it on a really dry day, a more normal day, with/without primer and also tried it mixed in with a more hydrating foundation. All were total fails.

It clung to dry patches and broke up on my skin within a couple of hours every time I wore it. There was a win - which was that I didn't waste my money on buying the full size! Hoorah!

Tips: Get your hands on a tester before buying!

Beautiful, but too dewy for oily skin!

I can see this being a dry or normal skin's best friend, but it is sadly not for super oily skin. The finish is beautifully dewy, flawless and lightweight when you first apply, and thankfully it keeps that lovely lightweight feeling all day, but for me, the shine gets out of control. Even with a mattifying primer and powder, I still get shiny after about an hour after applying. If I try to touch up my powder without blotting, the foundation starts to break up on my nose, forehead and chin, and settles into all my pores. It also melts away from the sides of my face and a little under my eyes. I want to love it so badly, I really do - if I wasn't so oily I'm sure I'd love it! The shades also run too yellow or too pink on my neutral skin, and I can't seem to find a nice neutral shade in this foundation. One plus about this foundation is that my skin always feels just slightly nicer after I've worn this for a day and then washed it off, although maybe it's placebo effect as I expect something this pricey to do wonders for my skin.

Tips: Probably best suited for normal-dry skin.

Nars Sheer Glow

I was on the search for a new foundation and after reading reviews on here for NARS Sheer glow I was set on giving it a go! my skin is combination, I can get dry patches and have an oily t-zone. I was originally going to dry the matte version of this foundation but the makeup artist at mecca cosmetics told me it was quite hard to work with, and said to give sheer glow a try. She colour matched me to the shade Deauville which matched perfectly with my skin tone. I love the finish of this foundation, if im wanting just a sheer coverage I apply with my fingers (as recommended on the NARS website) or if I am after a more medium coverage I apply with a damp beauty blender. as I have an oily t zone I do find I have to powder my face after about 5 hours of wear but I don't mind doing this as the foundation still looks fine! ----- can anyone recommend a shade of the NARS creamy concealer that matches the foundation shade Deauville (as I have to buy online)
