Magique Cushion Foundation

I was lucky enough to land myself a spot on this trial team for this foundation. Sadly for me it didn't live up to expectations.

I was hoping for a full/medium coverage, even coverage and great lasting power. For myself I didn't get any of these.

This beautiful soft pastel purple compact with a metallic purple lid, opens and revels a mirror inside the lid. A sponge that sits ontop. Lift the flap and a cushion like sponge lays with foundation below. Once pressed the product seeps through.

The sponge? Awful. It reminds me of the cheaper version eyeshadow sponge applicators you can get and it really does not help with application. When I used this I got a really un even application and when I tried to build the product up I found it just wiped off what I already had on there.

I first used this foundation with a primer, it helped the longtivity of this foundation over when I didn't use a primer. With a primer I was still quite patchy by the end of the day but without primer it was sliding off my face half way through the day.

I tried applying this foundation with a mock beauty blended and a makeup brush. Both help with a better application and helps build the coverage up also. I prefer these options over the sponge applied.

Coverage...it's a medium to sheer coverage I find. I couldn't build it up enough to get a full coverage that I like. It reminds me of a BB cream.

Once the foundation is on it is a sheer glow on the skin, a really nice dwey finish. However this foundation isn't for me.

I think I'd you like BB cream and prefer a light coverage, go for it.

Tips: Throw the sponge away now! Use a makeup brush or beauty blender (mock) sponge.

Also agree with both of u. It's better to use professional applicator.

My On The Go, Go To

I was lucky enough to get picked to trial this product, so thank you BR.

The L’Oréal Paris Nude Magique Cushion Foundation is a liquid foundation in a compact.

The compact is a light purple colour and has layers. When you open the compact you get the mirror and the applicator puff. Open the next layer and you get the foundation which is initally covered by a seal to keep the foundation contained I assume. Once the seal is open you discover that the liquid foundation is under a sponge. To get the foundation out, you simply press down on the sponge with the applicator puff and you will get a reasonable amount of foundation on the puff.

When applying the foundation with the puff L'Oréal recommends a tap and glide motion, with one to three taps depending on how much coverage you want to build up. And particularly when first applying the foundation to your face, I find this technique really useful.

The coverage of this foundation is as stated light to medium, being buildable. This means it is a weightless foundation on the face, but can still conceal to an extent. Obviously if you have a pimple lets say, you are also going to need to use concealer to conceal it. But the foundation definitely helps disguise it. In terms of consistancy, it was a thinish liquidy foundation. What you'd expect I think from a light to medium coverage foundation. The finish of the foundation on your skin is quite dewy, which does give you a natural glow. However if you are already quite a glowy person you can easily combat it with a matte powder on top. Which does bring me to finishing powder. I tested this foundation with and without finishing powders and primer. I found with these things the foundation did last longer, but not actually that much longer than without. Which in terms of longevity was maybe 6 hours of decent coverage on average for me. Though it could be more or less depending on things such as physical activity or how you apply it.

After finishing applying my foundation, my only gripe is that I was left with a hard to clean applicator puff, because even though I clean it after each use it doesn't seem to clean up that well. Please feel free to comment below if you have found a way to make it look like a new puff again.

A final thing to consider is cost. If you look at other foundation compacts from similar brands, they are similar prices. So I think it is a fair price.

I think it is a great foundation and it has finally given me a foundation. It does what it says: it's a weightless light to medium buildable liquid foundation that you can use at home or on the go. I really like it for that on the go aspect in particular as that is something a lot of foundations don't do all that well in terms of how they package their product.

Tips: I would use this compact for travelling. It feels way less likely to spill than my pump bottle foundation which has lost it's lid in my bag before. The mirror also makes it a great foundation to have when you're out and about because you have a mirror to apply it with.

Magique Magic

My first impression on seeing the packaging was ’oh how cute’. It is a small plastic pink compact with a shiny lid. Youthful and chic. The top pops up and the cushion is inside sitting in a plastic lid. Open that lid, and the product is underneath. It has a neat little mirror inside the lid.

The product is like a damp sponge, so you dab the cushion on it to pick up the product, then dab the cushion on your face to apply the product. I have to say, it’s very simple and effective. It kind of blobs onto the skin, and didn’t spread all that well with the cushion initially, that took a bit of practice, but I have it under control after a few times of using it. It doesn’t apply very thickly, so you need to apply more than one layer to build it up, if you don't want it too sheer.

It blends easily and dries quickly and leaves an even dewy tone. I really like that it doesn’t feel heavy on my skin like some foundations do. It’s quite similar to tinted moisturiser or BB cream in that respect.

I chose vanilla, as I usually don’t use any foundations with a pink undertone and thought it might look fresh on my pale skin. It’s very light on my skin but with a small hint of pink. I had some friends’ critique it, and they noted it was a bit sheer, but thought the pink undertone was just right.

It lasts well on my skin, but I do need to use mineral powder over the top to give it a little more colour. I wore it 5 days in a row, which is epic for me, I usually only wear foundation to work when I have something special on.

It washes off easily and doesn’t stain the washcloth, which surprised me. One of the things I really don’t like about foundations usually, is that they come off all over whatever you wash them off with. Gross.

Overall it has a lot of great things going for it, for me, especially that it is light to wear, not gluggy or clogging on my skin and easy to wash off, and I will certainly continue to use it.

The only negative I can think of, would be washing the cushion!

I would recommend it to others unless they had quite uneven or heavily blemished skin, and in that case it may not have enough cover.

Update: loving it more every time I use it.

Tips: Tip: Apply to freshly washed and moisturised skin, and be sure to close the compact properly after use to stop it from drying out.

Adorable Magique!

I am very impressed with the L’Oréal Paris Nude Magique Cushion Foundation! After never trying a cushion foundation before, and having skin which barely any foundations look good on, I was very skeptical as to whether this product would work for me or not. Well, after wearing it for a few days solid now I can cheerfully confirm that this is a fab foundation!

My skin is extremely pale, somewhat sensitive, and prone to breakouts. I usually struggle with finding foundations which aren't too dark, cover all redness well, and retain a relatively matte look throughout the day. This product ticked all those boxes for me.

To begin with, the packaging is absolutely. Adorable. You can't really tell from the image here, but it comes in the cutest little pale pink and rose gold-esque compact, which in itself would make me want to purchase this product again. It contains a sponge-like applicator, as well as the sponge product itself which contains the foundation. The perfect amount of product comes out every time, which I love - it makes layering super easy, and also avoids creating that super heavy look.

The colour is pretty good. I have 01 Porcelain, and it's a 90% match for my skin tone. I did need to add The Body Shop Shade Adjusting Drops in order to lighten this up a smidgen, but other than that the colour was great.

This foundation is VERY buildable - I can't stress that enough! It initially applies as a very thin, almost BB-cream like product, but you can rapidly build it up for a full coverage look. While it is described as dewy this foundation wasn't over-the-top shiny or oily looking, which I was super appreciative of. I never really go for dewy foundations, but with a quick dust of powder across the T-zone this foundation becomes matte.

Lasts well throughout the day, although generally need to reapply around the 5-6 hour mark. Overall, extremely impressed!

Tips: To apply this foundation I used the sponge once, but actually have been finding it much easier to simply press my regular foundation brushes into it instead.

Great foundation!

I was so excited to be picked to review this as I am always on the look out for a new foundation, i haven't yet found one i would use everyday, but the Nude Magique Cushion Foundation is definitely one that i would. Firstly i loved the packaging, its very pretty with its pink design and easy to take with me everywhere i go. The applicator puff is in a compartment above the foundation and has a good size mirror under the lid when you open it up for great on the go use. I've never used a cushion foundation before but i found it nice and easy to use. You just dab the applicator puff onto the cushion which has the foundation in it and you are ready to apply. I was also lucky to get the perfect colour as there wasn't many different shades in this foundation so not everyone will be lucky enough to use this product. I love how the coverage is buildable as some days i just want a light coverage but as i apply more it still felt great on my skin, not greasy at all, just a nice glow. Sometimes after wearing foundation my skin can breakout but after taking this foundation off in the evening i found my skin to be good. I was very happy to receive it and will definitely be buying it!

Wonderful

I gave 4 kisses to would I use again 4 to did it do as it said. 5 to would I recommend to a friend

I have to edit this after using it for less than 10 days Would I use again 1 kiss Did it do as it say 4 kisses Would I recommend 1 kiss. Edit reasons below

I have been using this everyday since I was given it as a trial from beauty review (thank you BR!) On day 1 I did a patch test on the inside of my arm. Next day i applied with the sponge it came with. I hate that sponge. The ribbon you put your fingers in is either to small or to wide depending on how many fingers you try to use. I also feel the sponge is way to thin. I would only use it to touch up makeup if out and about. The coverage wasn't that good. I found it sat on my skin. Next day i applied with a brush. This was alot better than the puff. I found the foundation also lasted longer on my skin. This morning i applied with a beauty blender. Now we are looking great. The finish with a damp blender is a real glow. Healthy and fresh. Almost a filtered photo look.

The consistency of the foundation is what I would describe as watered down full coverage foundation. I would think this would be good for teenagers and people wanting a light look. Not so much for people needing something to hide skin imperfections. I found the blender was the best finish and most coverage.

The compact is nice. Flip the lid and you can see your reflection. The pad sits in there. Flip another lid and there is the sponge with the foundation in it.

I would be interested to see how long this lasts. For the price you can buy full bottles of foundation and there is no way even half a bottle is sitting in there. If it does last a decent amount of time I would love to repurchase this

#Edit After using this for less than two weeks, this morning i went to use and found the wasn't much foundation coming out of the cushion. I took the cushion out to see how much foundation was in there. I was shocked to see a smudge along the casing and when I squeezed the cushion nothing oozed out. I will place a photo on the photowall to back up what I have discovered. I feel really upset as I have already told friends to purchase this. Spending $34 for not even two weeks is extremely expensive.

Lightweight

I was one of the lucky ladies to trial this! I was super excited as I'm all about foundation & was intrigued by this new dispenser.

My first thoughts were "ohhh ahhh" when I opened the courier bag... Actually I think I said it out loud. The packaging is pretty! Pink plastic with a shiny metallic pink ring around the edge. It's not the most luxury looking compact but I feel it's appropriate for the price & it's marketed customer.

You open the top to reveal the puff in it's own little tray, you then open this reveal the product.

It is a sponge like thing, when you press down it pushes out the foundation.

I have worn this a few days in a row now to get a real feel for it.

It is lightweight & feels great on my skin. It goes on easily & if you like a light coverage, a little goes a long way. I did find the provided puff a little awkward to handle so switched to my beauty blender to apply. I found that I did need to touch up during the day as it wore off my nose & chin. Although none transferred to my shirt collar.

I prefer a heavy coverage product personally as I have a lot of scarring & am prone to acne breakouts but I can see myself using this on my "Natural" days when my skin is clear.

I had a go at building it up to get a heavier coverage but it doesn't really work.

Wearing this for 3 days, it has been kind to my skin. I have had no reactions or breakouts. It has not dried it out.

A different concept for foundation... I do find the cushion thing a little strange but it's probably more that I'm not used to it.

Sadly not worth the hype

This was absolutely nothing like I expected. I remember reading that the applicator sponge was the "cushion" so I was expecting a kind of a solid cream foundation to bounce it into. WRONG... The cushion IMHO is really the sponge that sits in the compact (a gorgeous shiny pink click open/closed compact I must add) filled with the LIQUID foundation. And I mean liquid like water. The sponge does a great job of soaking it up though so I haven't experienced any product leakage. So I got the wee applicator 'cushion' and bounced it into the sponge (and instantly thought, I will have to wash this after every use just like my beauty blender or hello bacteria!) and dabbed the foundation on. It's sooo thin and watery that I found the coverage to be very sheer. Great if you want to just even out your skin a little but to me it was on par with a BB cream. I thought surely I would be able to layer it up for the areas that need more coverage but sadly I really struggled to get any coverage at all. It's a really dewy finish too, which is great for some people but really not ideal with my oily skin. I found the included applicator a little bit fiddley to really get into all the areas it needs to go (under eyes, sides of nose) too. Determined not to give up, the next day I tried this without the included 'cushion'. I patted my foundation brush into the sponge and applied it to my face then blended out with my beauty blender. I did feel like I had a little more control this way but still found that it was difficult to get much coverage. Overall it was just a bit of a fail to me. LOVE the concept, maybe if the formula that's drenching the sponge was more like my regular liquid foundation it would be a hit. Love the idea of being able to touch up my foundation when I'm out and about without the risk of liquid foundation leaking in my bag, just not loving this formula. Probably best left to those who want the coverage of a BB cream.

Tips: If you do like using the applicator sponge PLEASE wash it regularly or it'll become a breeding ground for bacteria.

Let's call a sponge a sponge...

Ok, first off - cushion? It's a sponge. A sponge soaked in foundation.

So what did I think of this sponge foundation? In short, I LOVE IT!

It's a light coverage, but buildable to medium. With the extensive choice of 6 shades, I went for beige and it works really well, probably due to the fact it isn't a full coverage foundation.

I found it easy to apply, I didn't mind the applicator at all, but then I usually use my fingers anyway, so that could be the heathen in me!

Price wise, well, for an every day foundation this would probably work out as expensive as your high-end products, but as I'm going to use it a few days a week max, I think it's great.

Tips: Watch the YouTube video on how to apply!

Moisturise well beforehand!

First ever cushion foundation

I was super excited to be on the trial team for this since I'd been eyeing up cushion foundations for ages now. This came in a palm sized purple container which is super cute and easy to carry. I am however a little worried that it won't last me long since the cushion seems to hold very little product.

There is a little spongy cushion on the top when you open the lid and then there's another airtight lid underneath that. The cushion that holds the actual foundation seems to be pretty soaked. I watched some online videos and apparently you just gently press it down then use the face puff thing to apply to your face. It felt pretty smooth when I'm applying it but I might try it with a beauty blender instead of the original puff since it's quite difficult to get into the nooks and crannies of my face. Coverage is a bit sheer and I find I have to apply two layers for it to be satisfactory. But the good thing is it looks and feels very light. It dries to a very satin, slightly dewy finish but I immediately matte it out with some finishing powder. I applied it this morning as soon as I got it and in the afternoon it still looked pretty good. My eyelids had a tiny bit of creasing going on and some fine wrinkles were showing but I'd say overall saying power is good. I got the shade porcelain which is the lightest shade in their range. It was still a bit too dark for me (note: my shade=ghost) and I had to bring it down to my neck. I really wish they had it maybe one or two shades lighter. There is no smell and it's easy to remove with a makeup wipe. I don't think I would purchase again unless they decided to expand their range of shades.
