Maybelline foundation

This is now my favourite foundation. After reading all the great reviews I had to buy some but I waited till it was on special. I was very lucky to pick a shade that matched, because I purchased at countdown where there are no testers. The coverage is pretty good medium buildable to full coverage. And it has a pump which is good so it's not messy.

Tips: Go to a chemist and test the shades out before buying

A new favourite for me...

I didnt expect much from this foundation but OMG it delivered!!

Firstly - my skin is normal-dry depending on the day - so usually anything marketed as full coverage or 24 hour wear does NOT work for me and leaves me dry and patchy!

The coverage on this foundation is great - I use 1-1.5 pumps for full face, pretty full coverage. I personally dont like building it up too much more as it tends to look a bit heavy and cakey, not that you really need to build it up anyway.

Only downside is the shades are a bit whack - there arent very many shades, and they are oddly named (for example I am 010 Ivory, wheras in other foundations I am usualy a light-medium!) so if you cant get to any testers definitely look up some swatches online or on YT.

This foundation is such a good price I really recommend anyone who is interested to try it. I have almost finished my first bottle and will be buying a 2nd.

Tips: I find this applies best with a damp beauty blender, I find brush application more difficult :)

A new staple!

I bought this recently after a friend recommended it to me, she was absolutely blown away so I thought I should give it a go. Matte foundations aren't usually my first pick, but ohhh my gosh I have fallen in love with this! The coverage on this is just insane and so is the staying power! I have combo skin and I feel like this lasts really well all day on my skin and so far I haven't had any issues with separation around the nose and chin like I usually do with other foundations, this also doesn't leave me looking like an oil slick by the end of the day! The only thing is I'm finding it hard to find a good shade, they seem to be a bit yellow for me so I'm having to mix a couple together and it still doesn't seem right, but hopefully they release more!

Maybelline superstay

This product has it all. Although not too expensive I wish we had it at a more comparable price to USA. However a drugstore brand i cased in a glass component, has a pump and is uniquely square shaped. The shade I got was for my winter shade to use everyday. I found this to be a bit pink and could've had a warmer undertone, but we made it work. Consistency wise its quite thin and runny. Easy to apply, using a beauty blender I haven't delved into the brush as it's not my choice of tool. I use this almost everyday and it has a build able coverage not quite full but rather light to medium. I use this over top of colour corrector and my primer. It layers well, and doesn't go patchy on my normal to combo skin however my skin during winter has been a bit drier I haven't found that this enhances that flaw. If anything I found that this is a semi matte finish but by the days end becomes quite slick and flush looking. I layer concealer over top and it holds quite well. Then powder over top to set the face. I find that this foundation will give me a good day's wear but by 3:00 there is definitely signs of slipping and alot of oiliness that being said my skin has been quite dry this winter and this didn't make a difference to the performance of the product and I would be left looking quite slickly dewy. The creases and corners by my nose has less coverage because of the product slip, but that's by the days end. However with all this mentioned I continue to use it for the affordable price and the actual coverage. I can easily apply it and it doesn't break the bank.

Tips: Prime well. Perhaps use colour corrector for extra coverage. Powder and set.

Maybelline Superstar 24hr Foundation

I really liked this foundation as it has staying power and great coverage that doesn't rub off easily. It makes your skin look flawless. It does however sweat off a bit in the heat throughout the day but probably not as much as other foundations do. I would recommend it to a friend as it is a reasonable price and does last better than other foundations I have used before.

Tips: Maybe use this foundation in conjunction with a Maybelline concelar to make it last even longer.

Not that good

I’m happy I didn’t pay full price for this, this just didn’t work that well for me. Generally I like Maybelline products a lot and used their foundations before and they were better than this one. I thought maybe since this was fairly new it’s better/does more etc.

The colour somehow ended up much lighter on my skin than expected, but I could still work with it. Coverage isn’t too bad, but to me it isn’t full coverage either. It works best with a wet beauty sponge for me personally, which obviously makes it lighter coverage immediately as well.

However, with a brush or with my fingers it did set into my fine lines too much and makes my dryer areas look flaky. I will use this up next winter with a heavier moisturiser underneath, but I won’t repurchase. I think I’m just not the right demographic for maybelline foundations anymore, as I always forget that I’m now 30 and it’s so hard to not buy products/brands that were working for me 10 or so years ago. :/

Not so Superstay

I won this in a BR fb competition (thank you BR!!!) and was really excited to try it! Since it had come out I had been wanting to give it a go. I like the square packaging- not bulky and looks simple, with a white lid and glass bottle. I really like the pump as well, it’s so easy to use (not too stiff and the product doesn’t squirt out too quickly) and really easy to control how much product comes out. I find the texture nice and smooth, easy to blend and can be built up. I usually use a damp beauty blender and it works really well. I find I don’t need heaps of product either- probably about 1 pump so the bottle generally lasts me pretty well. It has a nice natural finish, not too matte (I have dry skin, so matte foundations cling to the dry spots) and looks a bit dewy (which I like) and not too oily. The coverage is probably medium- it evens out most of my redness but in some places I need concealer for more coverage, but this doesn’t really bother me. I also usually set with a translucent powder. The foundation sits well on my skin however I don’t find it lasts 24 hours as it says- for me near the afternoon/late afternoon it starts to wear around my nose/forehead/cheeks, and wears quicker in the heat. The product is not perfect, but I do like it. It is really affordable (especially on special at countdown or farmers!) and the shade matches me perfectly.

Tips: I find this medium coverage, so in some places concealer is needed for extra coverage :)

Didn't live up to the title nor the hype

Purchased this due to the mass hype I'd been seeing and hearing about this foundation. Maybelline foundations and their products, in general, have always been a bit of a hit and miss for me with some becoming staples in my collection and others being a waste of money. I put off purchasing this for ages as I couldn't justify paying $35 for a Maybelline foundation that I didn't really need haha. Eventually, I came across it for $20 online and figured why not. I hated this product, it sat on my skin and felt cakey and gross to the touch. It felt like I was wearing a foundation sheet mask on my skin. The colour was off, which I spent ages trying to ensure it was the correct shade. It dried on my skin and clung to dry skin and hair on my face as I have dry and sensitive skin I wasn't surprised. It rubbed off not long after application and couldn't withstand sweat or heat. Waste of money and am annoyed having fallen into the hype.

Good for a short time, not a long time .

I picked up my bottle of this foundation from the warehouse . I got it roughly for about $35 . For a drugstore brand I think it could be priced at a cheaper rate .

Packaging they’ve kept the square shaped bottle only difference is that they’ve added a pump on it. The shade I purchased was Golden. Golden is a perfect shade for my skin tone. It seems to be quite runny in consistency . Builds up nicely .

After an hour or so I notice that it seems to fade out. Next day I tried a primer and setting spray to try and hold it in place still faded out . My skin type is normal .

Overall I was hoping for a good result but unfortunately this didn’t meet my expectations. I think it should be marked at a $10-15 bracket rather than thirty dollar price tag. It’s definitely a nah bro , won’t buy again product. Test before you buy.

Better than I could have ever expected!

Wow I was not prepared for this foundation to be as good as it is! I have always worn Lancome foundation and was in need of a new one (and potentially a new shade as I had just coloured my hair from blonde to brunette) so booked in at my local Lancome counter for a makeover in a couple of weeks time. When I got home I started researching alternate (and cheaper) foundations and stumbled across reviews on Maybelline Superstay foundation and they were so good that I thought I might give it a go myself. The universe agreed and had a 40% off Maybelline sale at Farmers so I rushed on down with nervous excitement. Oh my ... there are so many shades and I have to colour match myself which I haven't had to do before. I found a mirror and made lines of foundation on my face until I found what I thought was the closest match to my skin and then I wandered around the store for about half an hour so the foundation had a chance to oxidise and also gave me a chance to see how it felt on my skin because I really do not like touching my face and feeling foundation. I went home with shade 10 Ivory and couldn't be happier. It is the perfect shade for my Autumn/Winter skin tone and feels like I am not wearing foundation at all - it just feels like I have super soft skin. It comes in a square shaped tall bottle that is really easy to hold and it has a pump which works really well and you can easily control how much foundation you pump out. I put a tiny dot on my beauty sponge and tap it round. A few tiny dots (it wouldn't even be a full pump worth all up) is all it takes to cover my entire face and despite it being full coverage it looks so natural! It covered up my redness on my cheeks and made my complexion look smooth and even. I set it with a setting spray and some powder and it stayed on all day... family had presumed I had touched it up during the afternoon which I hadn't. I have even been to the gym and sweated away and it still looked good when I got back home. I am very impressed by this foundation and will definitely be purchasing it again - in fact I have cancelled my Lancome makeover and Maybelline Superstay is fast becoming my new fave and at this rate will be my 'go-to'.

Tips: Apply with a wet beauty sponge
