Orly

I have always heard good things about Orly & recently purchased my first, second & third bottle of nail polish.

They come in a range of gorgeous colours, glitters, and also base coats & accessories.

I didn't like the brush as it was very thin and had to do a lot of strokes just to cover a full nail. Does have a rubber handle though so is very easy to control & grip. Once you covered the nail and do 2 coats it actually finishes off quite nicely.

The nail polish starts to chip after 3-4 days if you are just doing daily chores and routines which is quite disappointing.

But still see this Orly as one of the top nail polish brands to date.

Orly nail lacquer

I have two orly nailpolishes, one gold glitter and one purple glitter. They appear to be very glittery in the bottle, but when applied the glitter pieces are quite sparce and it needs about three coats to look good. I find i have to dig around the bottle to get enough glitter on the brush which can be a pain. Other than that, i like the applicator brush, i think it gives a fairly even coverage and is easy to maneuvre to avoid going over the edge and getting polish on your fingers. It is quite cheap as far as nail polish goes and I find it has better staying power than OPI (however I have always found that glittery nailpolish seems to stick better for some reason)... Why is that?? I would like to add some more orly to my collection in a plain colour polish to see what it is like. So far I will be a return customer.

Great long lasting polish

I had heard a lot about this brand so I was very excited to finally try their polishes. I have today at I'm very happy with these polishes. This brand is not my favourite nail polish brand, but it's definitely up there. The nail polish is a smooth texture that has a good consistency that isn't on thin and isn't gloopy or sticky either. This makes it easy to apply to your nail without it streaking. I did find that you definitely need two or three coats to ensure the polish is opaque and doesn't appear patchy. I use two coats, with a top and base coat and the polish lasted at least five days before chipping. The polish has a smooth glossy finish, but I always use a top coat for added shine.

The brush is a rounded shaped with round bristles. I personally prefer nail polishes with flat brushes as it makes it easier to apply the nail polish in one stroke as it covers more of the surface of your nail. I find that the bristles on the brush are quite flexible too.

The actual polish lasts quite well in the bottle too. I've had mine for maybe eight months and the formula and texture is exactly the same as when I purchased it. This is good as the bottles are a big size, 18 ml which will last me ages. I don't often finish a bottle of nail polish. The bottle is a simple straight cylinder glassed shaped bottle with curved edges at the top. The brush handle is black with ridges and a slight hour glass shape. The rubber ridges make it easy to grip the handle.

Overall I really like this nail polish and would definitely purchase more polishes from this brand.

Orly Color blast

I recently bought the orly color blast nail polish from farmers on sale for 10.49, after hearing good things about the brand. I got the shade royal purple. It's a gorgeous metallic purple with blue glitter through it. You definitely need two to three coats of this shade in particular as it isnt that opaque but it dries quickly. I am now on day 3 with no chips yet, i did apply a top coat but 3 days for me is pretty good, i seem to have a talent for wrecking my nails on day 1! I would happily buy this polish again and I think that the orly color flip range is awesome!

Orly Nail Lacquer

The way the product is made is very good with the no nasty and low irritant chemicals uv inhibitors etc and the rubber grip lid can make applications easier but the product has a shelf life after a few uses the stuff thickens more making it harder to work with and get a good finish some shades seem to have a longer and shorter shelf life than others and some also stay on longer and are hard to remove great shade selection and for the price you sort of get what you pay for except make sure you care for them well as they tend to thicken up you need to allow decent time to let nails dry.

Orly Nail Lacquer

The bottle of varnish look gorgeous, and the colour range cannot be compared to any other. I love the rubber top which helps me get a good grip, and that is free from harsh chemicals. But I think the lasting power isn't so good, within a day of application the polish tends to chip and peel off.

Chipping here and there

I really like the convenient size of the smaller bottles that are available from Orly however I don't like the formula all that much. I have had Orly in a couple of colours- a midnight blue colour (unsure what its called), a jade green and a purple called Lollipop. The jade green was alright after a couple of coats but I don't really like the application of the polish overall- its quite streaky and difficult to make look professional. It also chips really quickly :( . I typically buy these in the mini bottles so I do wonder whether the smaller brush is what is causing the application to be streaky

Not for me...

Orly has a FANTASTIC range of colours- they are unique and look awesome, my favourite being "Steel Your Heart" which is the most awesome grey- a colour that I haven't been able to find anywhere else however that's where the positives end. I find I need 4-5 coats of this lacquer just to get nice coverage and quality colour. And then there's the drying time. I thought OPI had the longest drying time, but Orly far exceeds that. This stuff takes a ridiculous amount of time to try and it smudges very easily. I rarely use the 1 Orly lacquer I have even though the colour is to die for, because it takes so so long to dry; I just don't have the time to wait around doing nothing.

Chipped and Peeled off! :(

I must say i am NOT happy with the Orly Nail Lacquer. For Some reason it dried and looked AMAZING but it started to chip then it actually peels off. leaving my nail nice and clean, as if it was never painted. I tried with the base coat and then the colour and a top coat but nothing seemed to help. I am so annoyed.

Huge disappointment

I am very well acquainted with this nail polish as it is the chosen brand to work with on my beauty course. Let's just say I have a big disliking for this product and do not understand the hype at all. Yes, the shade range is phenomenal! So many gorgeous colours to choose from but what's the point when the formula isn't on par with more affordable brands? I find this to be streaky and goopy - you don't get much play time with this polish. It's also not fast drying at all and some of the shades require 3+ coats for a good opaque finish. Even when Orly's top coat is applied I get chipping and flaking within a day or two which I do not experience with other brands. Overall I do not recommend these, I much prefer Essie and Sally Hansen over this brand.
