Review of Revitanail Nail Strengthener

I received a full size bottle of product to review and was hoping it would be the holy grail for nails, mine are really soft, they split and break and I cannot grow them more than a few millimetres so I had high hopes for this. It's quite a commitment, 2 coats on the first day then a coat a day for 5 more days, take it all off and repeat for a total of 28 days. Although my nails felt stronger with the product on and I like the shine it gives, I didn't notice any faster growth and still suffered with splits and breaks but not as many as before using this. I will continue to use it in the hope that with more time I will see an improvement and as it's a big 30mls it will last for ages.

Tips: Apply in a well ventilated area as the smell is pretty strong and allow time to dry properly.

Starting off well but...

Someone once told me that nails should be "jewels not tools". Sadly, mine get treated as tools and it shows. They've not been great since having acrylics years ago. They're very bendy, ridged, break easily and my cuticles look dry and ragged. So I quickly put my sad and sorry hands up for this trial.

I liked the ease of use of this product. You apply two coats of what looks and smells like a thin, almost clear nail polish. It dries really quickly - the first coat is already dried by the time you get to the second coat. It instantly makes your nails look better by giving them a nice shine. You then apply another coat each day for a week, then remove all the hardener then start again. I did find after a few days my nails started to look grubby from all the coats as the hardener is not completely clear.

The results during the first two weeks of using this were great as I didn't have any breakages at all! Sadly my nails began to snag and break in the following two weeks. By the end of the four week trial, my nails looked worse than before I started. The three nails that didn't break during this trial did feel stronger when the hardener was on. Once it was removed they felt bendy again, so I think it was the layers that was strengthening them rather than the nails actually being harder.

On the plus side, I used hardly any product during the 4 weeks so a bottle could easily last a year. I seems to work well for other reviewers so I will give it another go after the suggested two week break from application. Hopefully I'll have better results with prolonged use.

Revitanail Nail Strengthener

I wear nail polish every day, hardly ever giving my nails a rest. Going into the trial, my nails were flaking, peeling, and brittle. I really wanted this product to be outstanding, to make it worth me forgoing my polish for 4-ish weeks. Results looked promising, but unfortunately the trial didn’t live up to my expectations - I thought that the Strengthener has improved my nail condition, however now I’m not sure.

I followed the instructions as religiously as I could. I love that the Strengthener dried pretty quickly, especially on the days I only had to apply one coat. Plus since it was clear, even if it did smudge, it was invisible to the naked eye. After a few days of layering, it did start to peel and chip around the edges, flaking a little bit as well. However again, this wouldn’t have been obvious unless someone was staring intently at my nails. The Strengthener gave a slight gloss which was nice, but it was slightly tricky to remove since (obviously) it is clear, so it’s hard to see what you’ve removed and what’s remaining on the nail - it did only take one cotton ball though. No where on the instructions did it say I could use it under nail polish - I assume I couldn’t since I had to add a new layer each day, but I think a product where I can use it under nail polish would suit me better in future.

The Strengthener seemed to be doing the job. Unfortunately, after submitting my review of the pack (the Strengthener + the Nail Oil), I noticed a break on one of my nails, when I was on about day 4 of week 3. A little bit disappointing as up until this point my nails weren’t peeling at all. After taking off the Strengthener today, it looks like a few of my nails are starting to peel slightly, and to be honest they look very dehydrated and strangely textured. One of my nails was peeling slightly going into the trial, and in the end I had to chop the nail as it just got progressively worse despite the strengthener being applied on it. I guess this is forgivable as the damage was already there, but I also found on two of my nails, I’ve got some weird ridges going on? It’s hard to tell at this point, and I do have a ridge filler for when I’m wearing polish - I just hope it hasn’t made my nails more ‘ridgey’ in exchange for the new found strength.

I thought that the Strengthener has improved my nail condition, however now I’m not sure. I think my nails are stronger, but not enough so to justify the high price point. I might undertake the process again in a few months, but I wouldn’t repurchase or recommend buying it.

Tips: Note down the day you apply the first two coats!

Helped my damaged nails

I recently had a manicure at which the manicurist over buffed my nails, leaving them splitting and chipping the minute I left the salon. After two horrible days of catching horrible nails, I removed the polish and filed them short and applied this nail strengthener (which I have had in my collect tin for ages but barely used). It has been amazing and my nails are no longer getting damaged so easily. This is a clear polish treatment program type thing. You apply one coat a day for 7 days and then remove it and repeat the process. You do this 3 times and then let your nails have a rest for a week or two then begin again. I also use the matching nourishing oil regularly too. It comes in a very generous sized bottle but does have a very strong chemical scent while applying. I have done this for the last 2 weeks and my nail are so much better and stronger, a couple of the ones she really buffed are still bendy but they aren't breaking so it's defiantly working. The bottle says you need to wait 3-4 weeks after removing extensions before using this product.

Tips: Definitely follow the instructions and follow the 7 day program to see results.

use it properly and it will work

I like this nail treatment, although I confess to not having the power to stick at it, so I don't see all the benefits. Firstly, the bottle is larger than a normal polish, so you get a lot of product. Unfortunately I have been spoilt by larger brushes from Sally Hansen, so now I find this brush is ok, but could be better. Due to using the polish daily, the top does get a bit clogging with dry polish. (see tip). When applied, nails immediately look better - it hides dryness, and generally looks as good as any clear nail polish for the first few days. At about day 3 (4th layer of polish) I get a bit over it. I struggle with that much polish on my nails, so I pick at them (naughty Naughty), then I will forget to put more on and they start to look weird (kind of scaley?) so I remove the polish at this point - if my nails are lucky, I might have made it to day 5. and I start again. Nails definitely improve, however I'm skeptical as to whether this is me not putting other things on my nails, providing a protective layer against dish-washing liquid etc, and for the first few days at least, treating them with a bit more care. Also, the 3 weeks, allow growth to happen - so the less healthy nails get filed off. Overall, does it really matter what is working here? my nails are healthier looking from using this treatment.

Tips: Put a little vaseline around the edge of the bottle to stop the build up of dry polish.

Nailed it!........almost!

I got this in the recent vault with high expectations on my mind. I have tried other Revitanail products and found that they worked well. I have very brittle nails that flake and split if you just look at them wrong. I am on a mission to make them the healthiest they can be, hence why this found its way in to my cart.

When I received it I was blown away with how big the bottle was. It would be two nail polish bottles in one go, value plus! It looks just like clear polish which suits me perfectly. I shy away from polishes at times because of the wear and chipping making them look ragged and gross. For this reason clear is my friend!

The brush for me is a little too thin. It takes a good five swipes to get the whole nail. It says coat twice on first day then every day for five days. This to me is no time at all so I hope it works that fast. The consistency is just like clear polish maybe crossed with a serum. It smells strong like a polish and can give me a headache if I don't sit in an aired room. It glides on with no bubbles or trouble making it look sleek and perfect.

My nails now look like I buff them. They are shiny, stronger and look great. This all sounds well and good until it comes to the time factor. The five days came and went with no real huge impact on my nails. In that time I broke two nails right off by just making my bed. Ten days came and that is when I noticed the difference, They didn't flake, they no longer split or break. I did find the amount of time a tad ridiculous though considering it said 5 days. I can kinda see why you need to reapply everyday though, it chips! Lucky for me it's clear and not noticeable but I need to know they are looking good.

In conclusion, this is good but not great. It did what it was supposed to but not in the time frame specified. My nails very quickly became fragile after a couple of days though. So in all honesty for them to maintain strength I would have to have this on my nails at all times it seems. No thanks, I like pretty nails too.

Does the Job

This was the product in the BBBE nails box that had me sold on it. As my nails tend to flake and peel, this is exactly what I need to achieve long, strong and healthy nails.

This is the largest bottle of nail lacquer that I've ever seen, it's twice or more times the size of what they usually are. So although $35 seems like a lot for this product (did to me anyway), you get a huge amount of it.

The way in which you're supposed to use this product, seems a bit intense.. You're supposed to apply 2 coats to clean nails initially, then 1 coat for the next 5 days, and then remove it all on the 7th day. It's recommended that you repeat this process for 3 weeks in a row, and then give it a break for 1-2 weeks before starting the process again.

Well I have not been following these directions, but it's working for me anyway, and I've been using it for 3 weeks. I've been using 2 coats as a base, with color polish over top, removing and reapplying every 2-3 days.

My nails have definitely gotten stronger since using this product, they're no longer flaking and peeling. I've still had a few breakages, but not as much as I would usually experience without the strengthener. Ultimately my nails are longer than they would usually get due to improved health and strength, and I assume that the result would be greater if I used the product as recommended.

The consistency is like any regular clear coat and dries quickly. The brush is fine, nothing remarkable but it applies the lacquer nicely.

I'm quite happy with the results of this strengthener, does the job it's supposed to. I may or may not repurchase, depending on what if any other similar products come to my attention in the meantime.

You gave me Strength

I was lucky enough to get this in the I love Nails box which came with my two for one TGIF deal. An unbelievably good bargain at the time. I'm not usually one to take all the steps I need to care for my nails. This box opened the door to helping me understand each step to care for my nails. During this year my nails have been dry and prone to breakages.

At first glance I thought this was a top coat but it wasn't. It's a fairly large sized glass bottle with a clear cloudy appearance within this bottle. On the reverse of this bottle it suggests to paint this on your nails daily for five days. The consistency of this is like a clear coat lacquer with a strong nail polish scent.

In two instances I gave this a try. Before I applying this I like to prepare my nails with filing them. Then I add this to my nails. With my nails in full shaped length I noticed that I had one breakage within four weeks. Which is a remarkable change as I normally have breakages on a weekly basis. With shortly trimmed nails I noticed a change within my nails as they began to grow out. Their not as rough on the ends and feel slightly thicker.

I've come to the conclusion that this product is great at strengthening my nails with the aid of nail care tools. Would I seek this product out again? Probably not as an individual product because it is a highly priced . But in a nail box with such a good value for money definitely.

Revitanail nail strengthener

I was lucky to get this in the 'I love nails' BRBB it comes in a big bottle compared to nail Polish this is a 30ml bottle. Firstly you apply two coats to clean dry nails then another coat each day for five days on day seven you take it off and repeat the process three times then rest your nails for two or so weeks an repeat again. Well I followed the instructions for two months and my normally dry, peeling and splitting nails are the longest they have been for a long time it has definitely helped my nails. The product goes on really nice and is fast drying and looks just like clear nail polish.I will keep using it until it runs out very economic and lasts well I also will be purchasing more I like what it has done for my nails.

Tips: Use cuticle oil after each application and between applications on rest weeks to it helps

Strong Nails

I got this nail strengthener in the 'We Love Nails' beauty box.

I got going trying it as soon as I could as I really like the idea of strong nails.

Does it work? well, straight away my nails looked and felt better. I only used it for a few days, which some might say isn't long enough to know. Well, the problem is, I would've loved to keep going, but the smell was making me feel ill, and in the end I had such a hideous migraine, that it had to go. Such a shame, but it can't be helped. I don't like using varnish or nail polish remover for the same reason (acetate/acetone?).

If these smelly substances don't bother you, then by all means try this product, as from what I could see, it does work.
