Milady Milady, Boysenberry kisses

First up I have to say that I love purple! but this isn't your ordinary purple, nor your ordinary stain nor gloss.

First impressions are a stylish and dainty tube that fits somewhat snug into ones hand... the colour looks reddish purple in the tube and the doe-foot applicator made me quiver in my boots... it is huge! The applicator is angled though which actually made it very easy to apply and covered my lips precisely.

It glides on like buttery gloss, and it does feel a little tacky to start but that settles and leaves a nice sheen to your lips. I like it best with two coats as the colour appears muted with one. the colour does develop more of a red tone on my lips... like a boysenberry has exploded on my lips... in fact it looks like I have bathes my lips in fresh juice (without the mess).

It feels light, luxurious and not as tacky as I had wondered about, it does transfer if eating/drinking/kissing etc (and hair does stick to it as well), but if I lick my lips I get a hint of berry flavour.

Lasting power of a stain and yet it comes off cleanly when you want it to. It doesn't bleed out from the lips at all.

I love wearing this lip shine, it stands out and I have had a number of compliments and conversations started because of this lip product.

Tips: You will need to reapply to keep the colour vibrant (especially after eating etc), and the more you apply the more purple it becomes.

L'Oreal Paris Shine Caresse

I was extremely excited to try this lip gloss/ stain, firstly because I love lip glosses and second because I love purple lip products. My first impression of this product was that I loved the packaging. Its a very sleek, gold casing that's so different from any other makeup product I have. On opening the lip gloss I was really happy about the applicator, it has a flat tear drop shape which perfectly molds to the shape of your lips. On to the actual product: I first tried it out with nothing on my lips, it glided on quite easily and it actually felt quite watery when I initially applied it, but after a few seconds it started to thicken on my lips which was very impressive. I also quite liked the smell of it, it was a very subtle sweet scent that did not annoy me throughout the day. I found that it looked quite sloppy and unfinished with just the gloss on and nothing underneath. The first coat was quite sheer but it still had a lot of colour, I just didn't like the fact that I could still see the colour of my lips with even 2 coats of it. I then tried the gloss with a purple lip liner on the outside of my lips and with my lips filled in. It definitely looked better and neater with a lip liner, but I was still not satisfied with the outcome because it still showed my normal lip colour when I had the lip liner just on the outside and then the colour completely changed to a cranberry/plum colour with my lips filled in. I wanted to capture the true colour of the lip gloss which is a deep purple but still light enough to make it wearable. The last thing I tried was a purple lipstick (with a purple liner on the outside). I used Revlon's Berry Haute which is a sheer version of Mac's Up The Amp. I applied 2 layers of the lipstick all over my lips and then applied the gloss and I fell in love. The 2 products together made the perfect glossy purple lip. The colours together made a much more opaque product that is very wearable. I found that the gloss lasted about 4 - 4.5 hours with no reapplication, however I did have to reapply after I ate and drank but thats to be expected with any lip product. Whats great about this product is that even when it faded, it stained my lips so at the end of the day I still had colour on my lips. I definitely want to try more colours from this line but I will always wear it with a lipstick underneath.

Awesome review here. I don't normally like lip gloss as it's sticky. I find them to be quite sheer.

Loreal shine caresse

I just bought this shade 2 days ago so im glad to see it up here to be reviewed. I have heard these are a dupe for the YSL glossy stains. I havnt tried YSL so I don't know for sure but so far im impressed, however there are 2 negaives I have with this product. First is that they don't have a safety seal. where I bought this there was no tester.. So of course some had been opened. I had to take a chance buying this that it hadn't already been swatched. 2nd gripe is it has an initial odd taste at first. Its a strange taste that's almost bitter but fades within a few minutes. Now for the positives. It has a tear drop shaped applicator that worked nicely on my lip shape. It was easy to apply right up to the lip line with good precision. The colour is beautiful. it reminds me of rebel by Mac. Although it looks glossy its not too sticky and lasts surprisingly well. I went around 4 hours without a touch up and the colour remained solid. I love this colour but wasn't a huge fan of the others available. I like that unlike some other brands Ive tried it didn't settle in fine lines or gather in the corners of my mouth. Would definatly buy this again once mine runs out.
